there has to be other free options out there that are newer and more feature rich and less glitched than this simple machines circa 2010

There is a SMF 2.0.15 released.
I don't know what the specific fixes are, but I can only hope the post editing errors are fixed by then.

or maybe a whole other brand of forum software...?
I don't know, I just want the post editing finally fixed please.

While messing around in the admin settings for Khushrenada Week I found an option to disable the WYSIWYG post editor, which should prevent some of these weird artifacts from showing up.
