Or else they wanted you to buy a second GBA

I only ever play SMB3 in my GBP anyways, and let my GBA host the reader.

Except for that they didn't make as much as they spent on the Xbox, so "profit" is a totally inappropriate word to use to describe what happened.

Be fair, Madden made some impressive improvements in this years iteration.

Plus, its not like there were many great games that came out this year. Most of Nintendos best came out last year or will slip into next year. Mario Kart probably came out too late to be a real competitor.

Target has the Pacman World 2 and Versus Bundle in their ad this week... $18 if memory serves.

No, no... Microsoft didn't make a profit.

From Most Recent MSFT Quarterly Report: The home and entertainment division, that includes the Xbox video game machine, had an operating loss of $273 million on $581 million in revenue.

Quote

Like i said b4 with the whole GBA conectivity.  Its all about money and greed.  its not innovative.. Its a freaking scam to get us to pay more $ to nintendo.  Nintendo is just concerened with making 1000000000000000%%%% profits and thats why they don't give the public what they want.  The public wants stuff that is fun but doesnt make millions for the companies, therefore this is why nintendo made more $ then x-box.

Ummm.... huh?

So the Gamecube made more money because its less fun, and not what the public wants?

Quote

tho I would much rather own a console that caters to my demands (public) and not thos of managment who are only intreasted in making money. You think the guy who first thought up of gamecube to GBA conectivity was thinking "I wonder what would be fun for players to interact with"? NO.. That was his 2nd thought.  His first was "What would be a great way to make money".

So are the public's only demands that the company loses money on the product? Hell, that's gotta put Microsoft wayyy out in front.

Pacman Versus looks plenty fun to me. God forbid it sells a few extra GBA/GC link cables though.

That's because there aren't a hundred million fanboys claiming Sony is doomed every week.

altho this is good news.. they still lost these console wars by a huge margin.

By whose standards? They've made a ton a money off of the cube, and a ton more off the GBA.

Lets just hope nintendo fixes them selves up and actually starts listening to what the public wants, rather then throw stuff on them they dont want *CoughGBAconectivityCough*.

Lets examine this rationally. Microsoft has lost literally billions of dollars "giving the public what it wants". Nintendo made over $400,000,000 last year... and everyone is pushing for them to change their strategy.

Are they still charging to play online?

I'd love to get PSO and a BBA, but there's no way I'm paying Sega.net to play online.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: more rumors of Nintendo launching in 2004
« on: November 29, 2003, 01:50:33 PM »
The Dreamcast really belongs in the present generation with the PS2 and the Cube rather than with the N64 and the PS1. The Dreamcast packed a lot of power for its time, and were it not for Sega's financial situation post-Saturn they'd probably still be making games for it right now. Had Sega not bailed on us I probably wouldn't have bought a cube at all. I'd probably be eagerly awaiting Sega's new console launch, which would've probably been in summer of '04.

I have to admit I was unimpressed with most of the early PS2 games graphically. Madden was definately pretty, but I don't know that it really was significantly superior to 2K2 for the Dreamcast. There still aren't many PS2 games that I couldn't envision the Dreamcast handling.

It comes with iNinja and Ridge Racer too...

But Target has the Pacman World 2 / Pacman Vs. combo on sale for $17 next week, that's worth it for Vs. alone, IMO.

Am I the only one who's really looking forward to this?

Even though I've been ignoring copies of Pacman World 2 in discount bins for months now, I'm going to finally pick it up when the new double pack comes out.

One thing though: do you need to have 4 people to play, or can there be a computer controlled character too?

Slow, stuff doesn't work, Outlook trying to do stupid things seemingly at random.

That's an insidious virus called "I'm using Windows"

Seriously though, try using Ad-aware first. I had a customer complaining of similar problems. Turns out they had like 35 copies of Bonzi Buddy that one of their kids installed while trying to get some P2P apps to work. Killing that cleared it right up.

If you're worried about a boot sector problem you could try using a clean copy of Fdisk (like one off a CD, that you know the virus can't have altered) and do an FDISK /MBR on it.

If all else fails, reformat.

« on: November 28, 2003, 06:23:12 PM »
I still don't understand why everyone thinks they need to make some sort of radical change from what they've been doing.

Give me a good Mario game (maybe let him fight Wario instead of Bowser for a change of pace, or maybe a 3D Mario set in the Mario 2 universe), a couple fun multiplayer titles (SSB and maybe a Metroid Universe title with co-op multiplayer) and a solid Star Wars game (maybe set in something other than the original trilogy for a change) and I'd be a happy man.

Nintendo is making money hand over fist with their present strategy, which is more than I can say for Microsoft. Why should they start imitating the also-ran?

Konami? Who wrote this rubbish?

The last console game I bought that Konami did was Castlevania, Bloodlines for the Sega Genesis. That was at least a decade ago.

I see what you mean about Tycho being a little stuck up and too much of a PC gamer, though- I don't know if you read his newspost today, but what he said about the Gamecube kinda ruffled my feathers a bit. I think the very fact that he doesn't play his Gamecube a lot is because he obviously has no clue what's on it besides what you read about on IGN or whatever. Why can Nintendo produce a dozen amazing games in a 2 year period and actually get insulted while any other developer puts out 1, maybe 2 amazing games in the same time period and is hailed as a collection of geniouses? I have to say, my PS2 is like a red headed stepchild compared to my Gamecube- I still love it, but it's got the whole neglect thing going. Maybe if Tycho delved a bit deeper into the Gamecube's library instead of acting like everything for the XBox is god, he'd start playing it more often. I actually thinking Nintendo's recent Gamecube games have been significantly better than their recent Gameboy games, which he was raving about today.

Maybe if Nintendo bought as much advertising space as Microsoft...

Up the top left corner is something that should be familiar to most of you by now, the small window mode of iTunes.

Pheh, Macs.

You can't see the best feature of my desktop, the thousands of dollars in cash that I saved by buying commodity hardware and using free software.

Has anyone else checked out the Nintendo.com Forums? How can something with so little content be so laggy?

If you haven't, don't bother, 90% of the posters are complete tools. They post inane topics like "Do U like Donkey Kong????"
and then a million other people, who I'm assuming are all identical in both body and soul, post "I do!!!11" and "me 2!!1@"

Beyond the pointless 90%, there are 8% who fall into the "I want to be a Sage (their version of moderators) so I'm going to pretend to take charge" category. They pretty much post in every thread that this thread doesn't belong on this board (yeah, we've got those here too, don't we?). Then theres the 2% that post here, and probably spent 45 minutes making an account there only to listen to all these kiddies going "D00d, do U want to see GTA for GC? Please reply if yes" and "Zelda, LOL, more like Cel-da"

Post script:

Wow, you guys outlawed the word C E L D A, but not the word cockmonger?
