IGN and Gamespot have got some movies up, and it comes out in like a month, so it's high time for a thread. There's not too much to talk about yet, but who cares.
A few observations:
- Metroid Mode looks cool, it appears as if you control the block of Tetrinos around the bottom screen as you scroll up collecting more pieces. Once you get a solid block (4x5 squares in the video) something...happens. In the video all the blocks in the group turned grey but it cut out before anythign else happened.
- In Balloon trip mode there's a tall tower of tetrinos (it extends far above the top screen, beyond sight) and you use the touch screen to push and rotate the bottom blocks to clear lines, thus lowering the tower. At the top is a box of balloons, so I guess you're goal is to get them down.
-Zelda mode appears to be like a mission mode, with goals like "clear three lines at once" and "clear two lines with a [shape]"
- Donkey Kong mode has a block of tetrinos in the middle, with additional blocks coming from both the top and bottom. It appears to be a contest against another player (or AI, I would assume) where you try to screw up the other person while trying to clear all you blocks from your side. I think.
- Yoshi mode....uhh, something happens here! I see cookies and stuff! Yoshi's on the bottom screen with baker-mario FRANCHISE WHORE on the top. Judiging by the tube that sends cookies to the bottom screen, I guess you're trying to feed yoshi....? On the top screen there are some blocks (!!), and the bottom screen gives you the choice of a few different shapes and rotations. Choose one and it drops down on the screen. Clear lines, get more cookies. It's weird though, it doesn't look as if you choose where you put the block on the top screen (although in that particular picture is was obvious...)
- Mario Mode = regular tetris, except freaking awesome. Shadows appear to show where the falling block will land, which was a little annoying, but still! Looks awesome!
- All musics seems to be remixes from their respective games. Lots of simple, repetitive, grating beeps and boops. Awesome.
- SPIINNING MARIO SPRITE, LOOKS AWESOME
- I love the style of the mario scenes on the top screen of regular mode, realistic backgrounds with sprites taken straight from the games looks awesome. I want the New SMB to look like that, not stupid old polygons ;____;
- I want this game.
- If I were to live on a deserted island and only bring one game, I would so bring this.
Plus it has internets, discuss.
