TalkBack / RE:EA Makes DS Lineup Official

Awesome Command & Conquer makeup!
I made one for the Nintendo DS boxart.

EA if you're listening we want this:

Port the N64 version for all we care, add double/touchscreen support with the PC's movies and wireless multiplayer support and you make the perfect game!

TalkBack / RE:BBC to air documentary on Nintendo
« on: April 21, 2004, 04:51:24 AM »
I just watched this 1 hour documentary from BBC3 and I think this Micheal TYp owes an apology (so-to-speak) to judge it beforehand. Sure, they could've had Professor Harding test Atari and Sony system games on epilepsy symtoms as well. But it was a fair point of distress they made on videogames in general, though it was only discussed for maybe 10 minutes in all, everyone got their say.

The documentary was awesome, amazing interviews, and most important unbiased.

Don't thank me, thank Warppipe for the d/l.

It's legit. Cake Media Group (www.cakemedia.com) does Nintendo UK promotions like those early Cube Clubs and nowadays they send out Nintendo press releases and do contests for them.

There, my answer is your answer, and I think their both equally urgent

PS: NOE got their head out of the sand and started doing the same action you guys have in the USA, from Dec 1 to 10, so I'm getting a Zelda Collectors Edition Disc in 4 weeks as I bought MKDD & 1080

How about adding 50 multiplayer battle maps, good huh?

I am going to cry now
In Europe outside of the Mario Kart bundle...
You can only get it via NOE's online store star catalog...
Which means you have to save up 4500 stars...
Which means at 250 stars per registered game...
I'd have to register about 18 Nintendo games!
Now I'm a big fan and all, but that's just insane

To top it off, the Zelda compilation disc will only be available in limited quantities in the star catalog. And it doesn't even come with it's own case nor cover. I don't think I've ever felt this screwed over before over something that's free

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Mario Kart Discussion (TALK ABOUT MARIO KART HERE)
« on: November 15, 2003, 12:24:42 AM »
I'm in Europe and was lucky enough to get the game early, so I've been playing it for 3 days now
I'd have to admit:

"I agree with the IGN review."

Single player and multiplayer races are a lot more fun than in MK64, in a different way, but the levels seem unoriginal, despite their interactivity. Sadly the multplayer atmosphere which I loved in the SNES & N64 versions is kind of ruined. I played it with 8 friends yesterday evening and after an hour or so we just got tired of it. It might be that we're older now than back in 1997 & 1992, but it just isn't the same old fun. We ended up watching movies until late at night. I would have to say that basically is because the multiplayer maps are CRAP.

I hate to be a bitch, but I could think of more fun ones in my sleep. Yes some are good, but like I first though... it feels like they've been lazy with the level design, and it's not something I was talking about openly last night. I wanted everyone to have fun. But it just didn't happen, if anything the game's gotten less attractive to get into and get a feel for. Even with the new multiplayer modes, when you got 8 friends (most of whom are avid Mario Kart fans) and they'd all rather watch a movie, I don't think I need to add to that.

As closing I would like to add that we've had a couple of good laughs and the controls are easier to pick up now, which makes it fun for everyone to race around. Right now I'm thinking I need to sit down with 3 buddies and see if the battle modes are possible to get into and feel the competition previous versions brought.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Gamecube titles that might be held over to N5?
« on: October 26, 2003, 10:50:59 PM »
You can never be sure, but here's a couple of games I think they might hold over to the N5:

Donkey Kong Adventure
Fire Emblem RPG
Game Zero
N5 Wars
Kirby Adventure
Mario 128
Metroid Prime 2
Pilotwings 3
Pokemon 3D RPG
Golden Sun RPG
Too Human
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Redemption
Half-Life 2
Pikmin 3
Punch-Out 3
Super Monkey Ball 3
Super Smash Bros. 3
Time Splitters 3

Bold ones are most likely to appear on N5 (along with the next Mario Parties I guess hehe), but with all the dev delays I wouldn't count the other out though.

Can't you detect sarcasm? You have got to be kidding me, 2 extra levels is a JOKE! It's like buying a 100.000 car and getting a 10 bucks discount on the cdplayer (or a free slap in the face), uncomparable I know, but I'm going to buy the car anyway, so why not throw in some free tires you know. Fact is, I don't know "people" who complained about the lack of tracks, I only know friends and me felt like that was missing for years and then I got the internet and read the reviews and they all said the same. You can continue to think I want to complaint about this, but I don't, I DO appreciate all the extras they can add to my favorite game series. I'd love for someone to convince me it's not a big deal, but you don't even understand why I would dislike what I do, so there's no point in it.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Mario Kart Discussion (TALK ABOUT MARIO KART HERE)
« on: October 26, 2003, 02:27:52 PM »
Hehe, of course I'm whining. It's because it's so ridiculously simple for them to have added 10 more maps. My buds and me have been playing Mario Kart 64 regularly for 6 years now and would've appreciated some more choices other than some levels that look exactly the same as their predecessors. Yes we play other games incase you're wondering, but Mario Kart remains a favorite. Maybe we'll love the new multiplayer modes so much there's nothing to mind, but all I'm doing is giving some critique. You're not exactly bringing the life into the topic by claiming unlockables make up for an expansion content flaw, they don't! They could've added Sonic and big pink dancing flowers everywhere in the game for all I care, and I still would've wondered why I can't choose more multiplayer battle levels. Again, although Bill ignores it and I'm curious why it doesn't matter to him to have some actual choices? I've already made it clear I will love this game and play it to death... Heck, I've invited 10 friends to come and play it with me to deep into the night when it's released on Friday the 14th. Gamenights only happens a few times a year nowadays, so yes that's special.

PS: Anyone who says something is better than nothing might be grateful for what they will get, but also unbelievably ignorant to the fact that games are supposed to evolve by expanding their fun and not adding crappy gimmicks.

Wow you are SOOOO right about that, you totally convinced me to not be pissed off about it Bill, thanks super duper much!

Hey everyone, Bill is THE best Nintendo fan here, I mean if it weren't for him, I wouldn't have realized that Nintendo increased their amount of Multiplayer Battle levels from 4 to 6.

I HAVE to look at this from the bright side! That it's like a GIGANTIC 150% increase in maps!

You just failed to realize one thing: that it's ridiculous that after the one complaint every review in the world (well almost) gave was that the previous console Mario Kart had too few multiplayer battle maps, WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MORE FREAKING OPTION!! I will still love this game, but why wouldn't I be allowed to complaint about the mode I will most play? It's like stepping back in time and say, let's not enhance this mode but make it exactly the same, with the exact same lack of choices in level build

I'm a pretty big Mario Kart fan, but I feel something snapping...
So from what I'm seeing there are only 5 multiplayer Battle maps???
I've begged, pleaded and prayed for dozens of levels to battle it out in with my buddies.
And after 7 years all Nintendo can come up with are a mere 5 freaking multiplayer Battle grounds?!?!

I honestly think I just died a little inside

What kind of a stupid f are you anyway? Can't you imagine tons of other people loving Time Splitters 2 and Hitman 2? SO what if Hitman 3 was the only game Eidos was planning to release for the GameCube in the future, they will still miss it or get it on their PC, PS2, etc. Your truth is nothing more than your opinion stated as fact, in other words nonsense. You know, for once everyone actually agrees Eidos is not a loss, why do you have to spout so much conspiracy theory crap *mumble*

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Nintendo Accused of Inflating Game Prices
« on: August 31, 2003, 01:04:11 PM »
This was known before Rare left Nintendo, which is quite some time ago now
Nintendo actually used part of Microsofts money to pay the fine.... but I can tell you for sure Nintendo got off easy, they made way more money off driving up prices back in the day, then the fine they had to pay.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:N5 Launch Games List!

I guess because people want everyone to have a taste of their personal flavour.
I know I didn't buy an Xbox because it's only must-have title at launch was a FPS.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:N5 Launch Games List!
« on: August 19, 2003, 09:04:18 AM »
That was quite a read on this page hehe.
I wanted to give some brief comments:

I agree with what most of you are saying. But I strongly believe Too Human (a new & "cool" game from AAA dev) and a popular Nintendo franchise (like Mario, Samus or Pokemon) along with a host of popular upgraded quality sports/racing games would make a good launchlist. People want to see their type of favorite game appear, they don't care if there are other types of (to them) unlikeable games on their console, as long as they get their must-have fix. Obviously Nintendo has been too slow with this as I'm still waiting for more 4-player racing games ala Mario Kart, just to name an example, outside the popular RPG genre drought. I mean, I'm no RPG fanatico, but even I can see if they launch with a Final Fantasy title or release one shortly after launch, they will be golden.

This brings up your communication discussion, you're saying you don't see what Nintendo is doing? They want you to connect with other people in real life, not via an anonymous internet connection. That's why I'm so fond of 4-player games, heck I'm even having a gamenight this week with 8 pals, who are all in their 20's.

Lastly, you have to understand that above all Nintendo is a business, they don't want to lose money on online gaming like Sony & Microsoft are losing tons of money right now. Nintendo has been online with the NES, SNES & N64 (64DD) in Japan, and all didn't live up to their expectations. Sure, only in Japan you say, but broadband for lagfree gaming isn't as common as you might think. Only 17% of the internet users in the USA has a broadband connection, the lowest percentage in the world, and 10% of them live/work in/around New York.

But in the end, they are still showing their planning to open the door for new gamers into the world of nintendo. And pave the way for follow ups to please their existing fanbase. I just wished they'd bring over some of those Japanese game commercials next console wars, those people will remember, and what you remember for being funny, cool, cute or slick... that people buy.

That is CORRECT reasoning, we are gamers are we not.

To me a system only needs 1 great game I can enjoy to death, to be a success in my eyes.
