I was thinking the other day about how many Switch games actually came out in the first year. After all the delays and tears that kicked off the Wii U, it was nice to see. Skyrim came out in the fall, Rime eventually released, even Xenoblade 2 hit its mark! I looked up one of those Switch game graphics that were floating around early on in the "launch window" and Switch did pretty good! There are a lot of different versions of that graphic, not sure which one was the original.

Even with all that, we do have some stragglers.

REDOUT

Last heard about in December, this one is still coming. Fast RMX can't be the only futuristic arcade racer of note on the platform.

BATTLE CHASER'S: NIGHTWAR

Also last heard from in December, I know they were having some problems with the Unity Engine, but sounds like things are looking better. I tried this on the PS4 and I really liked it, so I am excited for it to come to Switch.

STEEP

Ubisoft said back in October that this is still coming. Wasn't there supposed to be some Olympic Winter games DLC being released? Has that happened yet? We probably are never getting another 1080 Avalanche, so this it for Snowboarding games.

PAYDAY 2

Recently announced release date of February 27th, This game is no longer in the vapors but soon to be reality. Let's hope it's a good port.

For selfish reasons I've entered in the "this is taking way longer than I thought it would" phase of waiting for Hollow Knight's Switch version.

I don't know if it were ever on a graphic, but I know Terraria was announced for Switch before it launched, and it still doesn't have a date set for it yet. That's one I was looking forward to.

DQ Heroes I and II are not being localized at this time. DQ Builders 1 is releasing February 9th and DQ Builders 2 has a target of Q2 2018. While it has been confirmed that DQ XI is releasing in NA, specific platforms were not mentioned. It's worth noting that the Switch version of DQ XI still has no announced date for Japan, either.

No More Heroes is showing life earlier than expected, let's see how it pans out

As Kairon pointed out elsewhere, Pocket Rumble is starting to be noticeably tardy

I'm still waiting for you Battle Chasers! Latest word is that it is approved, waiting for the release date.

Wargroove in particular is disappointing to me that it hasn't yet appeared. I guess if they can get it out before the next Fire Emblem, there'll still be a gap in that type of game they can fill, but I was hoping it'd be there early-on when there was still a somewhat limited offering of games.

A Ubisoft dev confirmed on Twitter that Steep on Switch is a real thing that exists and that it's supposedly in state of optimization. But that was in January. Maybe something will come during E3.

Are there any competing snowboard games out right now? With SSX, 1080, Amped, Cool Boarders, Snowboard Kids and Shaun Palmer all out of rotation it feels like there's a void waiting to be filled there.
Am I missing anything? I'd definitely get Steep if they made it for Switch.

It was the first game officially announced for the NX and Square Enix even set up their own switch division, but given that they are in no rush to even talk about their brand-defining, genre-defining, mainline RPG series on switch; I have to wonder if it's been cancelled due to technical reasons. Why else would it be on ice for so long?

I think it will come. Late 2019.

However, I don't think we are ever getting a western release of Dragon Quest Heroes.

Yuji Horii also said development on the Switch version of Dragon Quest XI was going well earlier this month and hinted at news possibly coming at TGS in September. It has been a bizarre saga, but after the huge success of Octopath Traveler (and RPGs in general) on Switch, I think Square Enix will find a way to make it work on the system one way or another.

In general Square Enix likes to take their time with their big two series with newer titles. FF and DQ for those at home. They tend to take the longest with those two since with FF they are all new settings or the gameplay is different from the previous title. DQ is usually worth the wait and are pretty outstanding titles.

Kingdom Hearts must be their biggest series since that seems to have the longest wait between actual number installments judging by the time taken from 2 to 3.
