Title: So we're not talking about hipster jeans?
Post by: Shift Key on December 12, 2008, 04:04:57 AM
Shift Key: what the **** is this music club?
Svevan: Do you have Hipsters in Australia?
It's railing against hipsters.
Shift Key: nah, that's not a term that gets used much
people who go around telling everyone about a band i've never heard about are just wankers
Svevan: read this: http://www.adbusters.org/magazine/79/hipster.html
well we have nothing but wankers then

Discuss, because Facebook chat went down and I don't get why they need a whole Facebook group based around it.

Yeah I got an invite too.

I always thought hipsters were emos who cheered up somewhat. Or am I thinking of scenesters? Emo will probably one day be looked upon as a counter cultural movement, albiet a weak one that's popularity was it's ultimate downfall.

I didn't like this bit
Quote
This obsession with “street-cred” reaches its apex of absurdity as hipsters have recently and wholeheartedly adopted the fixed-gear bike as the only acceptable form of transportation – only to have brakes installed on a piece of machinery that is defined by its lack thereof.
Fixed gear bikes are fucking good. Adding brakes and it is without a doubt the most sensible form of transport. Who seriously needs a 21 speed mountain bike? Wait I was thinking of multispeed, automatic geared road bikes. Fixed gear bikes are for retards.

joined a facebook group to hate on hipsters?

I'd be in if facebook wasn't such a hipster thing to do. Besides, any time i've tried to join something like that to stay in touch with like two people that don't have any normal means of communication, i end up getting found out by people i dont want finding me.

Aw, I thought I was special for receiving an invite.  :(

I ignored it.  Just like I ignored the democracy group he tried to get me to join a couple months ago.

One day I will go on a hipster shooting spree.

I don't think anyone will really mind.  Even the hipsters I didn't kill will be like, "Good job for killing all those hipsters.  I'm glad I'M not a hipster."

Blogging about hating hipsters is like killing someone for being a murderer.
