Between the amount of cash you'll spend on tax to get the two games at retail you'd be better off purchasing both at Amazon.

Unless you live in New York, where you have to pay tax anyways thanks to our idiotic governor.

Problem is I plan on seeing my mom tonite, and I told her that I'd have her Mothers day gift last tuesday.

So I will get punchout online, and get everything else next month. Met a cute girl at BB(she works there) so I'm gonna go back there to cash in that $10 GC.

Same with Washington. I really don't like our governor either. It's a rolling trend that only the non-sales tax states are probably not going to follow. I only know of Oregon and Montana on the West side. What other states are tax free? Might dictate where I might move to eventually.

Delaware, because it is too small for anyone to figure out where it is.

Pennsylvania doesn't have sales tax on food or clothing but it does on everything else.

Which states have tax on food? I didn't think any did, although there's a beverage tax here that's pretty annoying.

Illinois taxes grocery sales, but at a significantly reduced rate.  In Cook County (i.e. Chicago) it's roughly 2%, compared to the normal ~10%.

Interesting, thanks for that. Although it is outdated since it was last updated January 2008, and Ohio sales tax is now 6.5% instead of 5.5%. Assuming it hasn't been raised in other states that's leaning toward the highest amount, so many of you should consider yourselves lucky.

No, that isn't accurate. Washington is 9.1% and in King County (where Seattle is) it is 9.3%

That and I'm sure some states have a 10% tax if I remember correctly.

Yeah, not only am I living in the shock of getting used to sales tax again, but since I work in North King I pay even more there because of the hike. Ridiculous. Maybe I should of changed my residency to Oregon while I was in Portland to avoid the sales tax...but then I would have to pay income and property taxes. No way around it.

Are there any comparable sites to Amazon where you don't get charged sales tax? I would prefer to also get free shipping like Amazon but at the rate taxes are going, it will be cheaper to order something w/ shipping and no tax versus Amazons no shipping plus tax.

Over the last 2 days I keep checking this thread thinking, "Wow!  So many amazing deals!  People keep updating the thread!"  Alas, it's just a lot of tax talk.  This thread has gone slightly off the rails.

It IS accurate.  That site only lists state sales tax.  It doesn't include county or city tax.

Just like this game:

Which is coincidentally a good deal! Don't listen to NWR's review, it's a rare miss. That game's awesome.

Got Ninja Town at Toys R Us for 9.98. I had to do a bit of driving to get it, but I'm glad I got it. Also, they have DS games buy 1, get the other half off.

I like those deals. Toys R Us always seems to do that from time to time. I got in on a buy 2 get one free deal there once and scored NSMB, Tetris DS and Prime Hunters. This was just before Tetris went out of print.

Elite Beat Agents for $9.99, free shipping (and probably no tax)

Must resist dragging the tax subject into another deals thread... :-X

I might have to get that one. Can't decide between that and Rhythm Heaven.
