the issue with karma was the anonymity aspect of it. I can smite lucariofan and I don't have to tell him why. It's just such an almost cowardly way of trying to improve posting. there's no way to trace a smite or applaud to the post it was given to.

No, the issue with karma is that everyone bitched about a number that had any real meaning.  It isn't even like you get punished for having bad applaud/smite ratio, and it wasn't really a decent indication of whether or not someone was a "good" poster.  It's a dumb fake number that can be fun to play around with if people have the good sense to not take it seriously.


It's probably for the best that it's gone, so people can just shut up about it.
