Nintendo Gaming / Resident Evil 0 Help
« on: April 14, 2004, 04:37:01 PM »
Ok so I've beaten the game blah blah all that crap.  I got the extra stuff in the Leech Hunter (Magnum and Infi Ammo) and beat the game again, thinking I'd get the Rocket Launcher (I beat it in under 3 hours), but the STUPID THING WAS ON EASY!!!!   BIG TIME !!!
Here's my question:  Is there ANYWAY in the 9 5/8th layer of Hades that I could somehow keep what all I've done on the saved portion of my game, but up the difficulty level?  I've tried Continue and Restart, but to no avail.  I can't seem to change the level.  I don't want to have to beat the game AGAIN and the Leech Hunter twice AGAIN just to be able to get the Launcher.  Anyone have a glimmer of hope????

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Component Cable Question
« on: January 27, 2004, 01:39:56 PM »
thanks man
i appreciate your help
I'll probably just wind up buying it in hopes that i can get an HDTV soon
plasma screen baby

also, I know this is'nt a PC place, but would hooking my PC to my TV via a component input improve the quality?  I hooked it up via the S-V input, and games and such look fine, but the type is barely disternable, even when bumped up to large fonts.  Any idea?

It's not HD compatable.  Just has component.  But from what I heard it's a slight bit better than S-V.  Which if it's only a slight margin, it's not going to be worth the extra $15 to buy a cable I won't be using to it's fullest capabilities for a while.  But I am starting a new job with 10 times the pay I have now (it's a legal job), so that could change, hence my delima.  sorry if I'm confusing

Nintendo Gaming / Component Cable Question
« on: January 27, 2004, 01:11:04 PM »
What's up all?  I'm looking for some encouragement.  I'm thinking about buying a component cable set from Nintendo now that I've got the TV for it.  Do you think, if you have the cables, it was worth the $30 to buy?  I knew S-Video cables were expensive and they make my DVDs look a lot better, but how much better than S-Video is Component?  Is it a lot more difference?  I currently use the stereo AV inputs, so I know i'll a difference either way I go, but I want the best quality I can get for my money.  Thanks for whatever input you give.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:What features should gamecube2 have?
« on: August 15, 2003, 03:38:37 PM »
Massive tangles of wires doesn't seem very inviting with all those controller chargers, and unless the Big N figures out a way to somehow "snap" the chargers together to save space, I think the idea sounds good on paper, but would be a headache in real life.  Maybe, for the hardcore gamers, make a 4 controller charger with controllers on each side of a four-sided charger, each leaning inward slightly to give it a hip look.  That could solve both looks problems as well as space problems, and get rid of multiple cords.  If Nintendo can figure it out, I think they should attempt to include a rumble feature on said wireless controllers.  Capacity is a must this time around, as we're seeing larger and larger games.  On PC now, it's not uncommon to see games taking up 1 Gig or more, so I think Nintendo might want to scratch the smaller discs;  although, the smaller discs were pretty cool.  Along with that, we need either a larger memory stick type device or built in harddrive.  I'd prefer the memory stick, because it reduces the weight of the system (I tend to tote mine around alot), and plus it's more unique, as we all know the next gen Nintendo system will get smack for trying to be like everybody else.  Can't win for losing.  It's different, it gets smacked.  It's the same, it still gets smacked.  It's like the fat kid trying to slam dunk - no matter how fast he runs, how hard he jumps, his shorts will still fall off in mid-flight.  Also for the name, I dig N-Gen, for Next-Gen.  The Nintendo N-Gen, driving into the Next-Gen and beyond.....

A control stick is possible, Nintendo just needs to find out about it.  I remember the very SNES-like computer controlelr.  Don't recall the name offhand, but it had a screw in controll stick.  And I wouldn't plan on Game Boy's getting any bigger.  I expect them to get like almost paper thin because nintendo wants them as portable as possible.  I would die for wireless, online type multiplayer in the gameboy, seeing as I know no one with one, and hate playing games by myself.    I'm very temped to get an Xbong so I can play something online, but I don't want to pay for it.  I'm spoiled to Quake and Command and Conquer's free play.  :-p

Nintendo Gaming / Eternal Darkness Character question (spoilers)
« on: May 07, 2003, 04:33:40 PM »
Yes there's spoilers even though everyone should have had the chance to play the damn game.

Ok, I was reading the official site, and on there it said you can play everything from a "Monk during the paranoia of the Inquisition to a Special Forces commando deep behind enemy lines."

I was wondering, was the commando taken out and replaced by another character, like Mike Edwards?  Or was he taken out completely?  Just wondering if this is a typo that they forgot to correct.

Man I hate campers.  Honestly after I read about what Doom III's multiplayer's gonna be like, I do NOT want to play it.  They're actually incouraging campers by letting you shoot out the lights, ala Splinter Cell.  Hide in the shadows by the BFG and kill everything and everyone.  I'm sure id will come up with some sort of solution, but as it's been said, there's always a way to f*** up every online game on the PC.  I hated playing games like Diablo online, people ask to fight, and they've got like 5 billion hit points and an axe that deals 17 trillion points in damage.  how lame?  o0o0o0o0o0o mi oobur sord kikd ur a$$.  Woppdee doo.  I think they should have id scanners for PCs or something so that the loser 10 year olds will stay off.

Heh Quakeworld..... Now there's something that made me miss lots of hours doing homework.  You know what tho?  I used to play a mod for Quake 1 alot, and now I can't seem to find it.  I think it got canned because of licencing problems.  it was Star Wars CTF.  That mod was really fun cuz I'm a Quake and star wars fan.

Well I think the most modern FPS I like the most is TimeSplitters 2.  Sorry I didn't mention it.  I just dont like this jumping crap.  And you can tell, if I'm ever playing against you in Quake 3, how old school I am.  I rarely jump, and if I do it's because I have to.  I'm usually last in rankings because I haven't gotten the whole jump while running, shoot while jumping and running, then get armor deal yet.  I just liked the skill I had to have to pull off some of the rocket shots I had while playing Doom.  I remember this one time I was playing against a friend of mine in Doom.  We played until 7 o'clock that morning, and we had only accumulated 35 frags.  We didn't suck by any means, it's just you have to anticipate where the person's gonna be and shoot, hoping the person would actually go to that location.  Now if you can't pull off 250 frags in an hour you just don't need to even play.  Now bullet weapons were never really a problem, but the slow rockets on the rocket launcher required precise timing.  Now days I just have to aim at everyone's feet and hope I get to pull off 3 shots before he pulls off his masterful in my face luck shot.  Maybe I'm just having a fit of nostalgia.

Ok all you 18+ people this is for you.  I'm not trying to discriminate, it's just anyone under 18 is too young to probably understand what I mean by what I'm going to say.  Do any of you remember the days of Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Doom II?  Back when FPS's where all about precision, skill, patience.  I remember how hard it was to actually hit someone in Doom in E1M1 in the Rocket Arena where the blue armor is.  Damn near impossible, and you earned bragging rights when it happened.  Now days, all the FPS's have this fancy shmancy jumping thing.  What's the deal?  Everyone bounces around like they're tripping on E while taking their Prozac, and they think they have skills.  A 2 year old can hop around and not get shot.  Now all you have to do is aim down and shoot him more than he shoots you.  Jump out of the way fast enough.  Screw that.  I liked relying only on my incredible ability to strafe left and aim in the anticipated spot, only to shoot and have my rocket slam right into the opponent's face in glorious defeat.  Now it's aim down, shoot shoot shoot, game over.  Too fast paced for me.  I always got into Doom more than I ever did the Quake series, and it's all because Doom was much slower paced.  It actually made you think about each and every shot.  Hell shooting twice around your opponent was the way to win most of the time.  Now, I aim at the wall above you so when you bounce like the Prozac bunny you are, you'll get a rocket in the face, and that's only if I'm lucky.   Luck shouldn't have anything to do with it.  It's all about planning, timing, and know-how.  I've spoken my piece, now it's time to see who agrees/disagrees with me.

Nintendo Gaming / Getting an SP, need some help though
« on: April 28, 2003, 11:08:40 PM »
Well if Nintendo was looking to hook people with the connection deal, they got me.  Hook line and sinker.  Of course I have been looking at Advance titles.  I'm into FPS's maily, and racing.  Colin 2.0 looks very nice, and I wonder if I'll get anything extra if I buy Mario Kart SS.  I loved the original and to me has always been better than the itteration I went through on the N64.  I really like the old school stuff tho, like Doom and Duke Nukem.  I can recall many times staying up way too late on the old call-up connections over my super fast (then at least) 28.8 modem back in the day.  Back in 1995.  God almost 10 years ago.  I feel so old.  I need this refresh of old school like a fat kid need cake.  lol  Also I was wondering if anyone knew when Advance Wars 2 is going to come out.  All I need is that, and to convince my brother to buy one.  lol  I need someone to play this stuff with.  Maybe nintendo will heed our call next generation and make the ultimate handheld with online playability.  =o)  but only time will tell.

Nintendo Gaming / DVD GBA
« on: April 23, 2003, 05:11:53 PM »
Well maybe it could all be possible come next console wars.  Personally I think Nintendo should now go onto perhaps miniature discs for their next Game Boy.  Maybe come up with some wild ass new technology for it, make like 1" discs or something that can hold up to 512 Megabytes.  if they can make a 3" 1.5 Gig disc, I think maybe they can pull that off and incorporate it for their next portable system.  If not, memory sticks will work fine with me.  Just really big ones.  I want a portable PS2 or GameCube, but that's awhile down the road.

This will be my first purchase of a GameBoy since the era of the original.  Yes long time.  I have a problem keeping up with my GameCube games, let alone any other system.  I want to be able to play Zelda and Splinter Cell especially with the extra features, and was wondering if it was worth it, and what all I'd need besides an SP and the GC/GBA cable.  Can I keep my SP plugged into the wall via the AC adapter and play that way?

Billy, never knew you, but you're a cool cat in my book.  I like the personal feeling of site better than the corporate ones.  You actually let us know how you felt leaving and all, usually don't even get a goodbye from corporates.  I'm in radio too, no idea what made you change the lifestyle tho, dude.  lol  But hey remember what my quote says always.  Rock out with your johnson out.

General Gaming / Nintendo's next console in 2005
« on: April 17, 2003, 05:03:37 PM »
Yeah very true.  Being first out means nothing.  I think these days, since the video game systems are no longer just for "dorks" (no offense, but it's true, we were called dorks once, now everyone plays these things), but for everyone, and most of the casual gamers just follow the crowd and the hype.  Best graphics usually equals alot of sales, plus anything with Playstation tagged on it gets sold.  Hell if Nike made a pair of Playstations, it'd be the best selling shoes ever.  But I think Nintendo really and truely has to do something about its image to the general public.  See, just because of the 3 or 4 "kiddy" looking games on the Cube, people automatically label it kiddy, but they don't realize that being the market leader, Playstation 2 actualy has probably 5 to 6 times the amount of kiddy games under its wing, so why not it be the kiddy system?  It's clearly the least powerful, but I guess the name says it all.  Seriously, I think that Nintendo needs to end the GameCube's life with a bang, not from a gunshot, but with something huge, perhaps 6 months to a year before they let the new system loose.  Something huge.  Not anything to do with GBA connectivity, altho it was a novel idea, I was very disappointed by it.  I hope either Sega or EA brighten up and give us the ability to select plays via the GBA's screen, which would ROCK ALL KINDS OF HARD.  I hate it when my brother knows exactly what play I'm picking, so having that at my disposal would seriously open the difficulty door to football games.  And Nintendo, if you see this, score some MAJOR MAJOR deals no matter what the cost.  Something along the lines of GTA III.  Although the game gets very boring after awhile, it sets the tone for the image of a system.

I know the feeling of having too many games that I want and can't buy them.  DEMMIT.  I wasn't even really into getting another game for quite some time once I got Wind Waker, but I beat it ALOT faster than I thought I would, so I'm looking for a new experience.  I bought Splinter Cell today because I love spy type stuff, and I tried to get Red Faction 2, but they didn't have it.  Pooy.  But I would like to buy Burnout 2 because I really dug the first one, and Hot Pursuit 2 just didn't ease my racing cravings.  And I HIGHLY recommend Time Splitters 2 to anyone who loves FPSs because the story mode is OK, but as far as multiplayer goes, let's just say it's the Perfect Dark killer as far as I'm concernd.  If you can get 4 people and a big TV to play it on, you'll never play another game for a long, long, long time.

Nintendo Gaming / Why the poor FPS support on the Cube?
« on: April 16, 2003, 02:04:08 PM »
I went to buy Splinter Cell and Red Faction 2 this afternoon, and could only get SC because the guy at the counter said that FPSs on the Cube sell so badly that they refuse to carry more than 5 of each title in stock at a time.  That's whack.  I've been waiting to get RF2 since it came out, and this is just annoying.  I still love my Cube, don't get me wrong, but why is it FPSs never do so well?  I thought that Time Splitters 2 was an incredible game, and thought it sold well.  I must've been wrong.  Anyone got any explanation, speculation on this?

General Gaming / Nintendo's next console in 2005
« on: April 15, 2003, 03:35:50 PM »
They for sure have ATi on board??? rock hard man, solidly rock hard.  I just hope Microsoft doesn't get with ATi so that maybe Nintendo will realize that having great graphics is something people consider these days, and maybe they'll have the BEST.  Who knows, but I love Nintendo and ATi, so just hearing the 2 being together rocks everything.

mine doesn't even work, but I do play my SNES every now and then.  talk about nostalgia.  I had never played Link to the Past, and low and behold, Babbages was selling SNES and NES carts out the ass.  Had plenty of LttP and Super Metroid.  Couldn't get metroid, tho

General Gaming / Anyone have C&C Generals??
« on: April 11, 2003, 04:17:15 PM »
amen dude I'm thinking of doing the same thing.  I'm checkin out NewEgg.com and Motherboards.com  The latter is cheaper, and I'm planning on gettin hooked up with either the Radeon 9700 Pro or 9800 Pro.  Not sure which I want, but to hell with Nvidia.    I'm thinking of getting P4 2.4 GHz with 2x 256 RAM, and a brand new motherboard.  I think that's all I'm going to need besides a new power supply.  Since you build them, how would you go about doing it, plus is there anything else I'm gonna need?  I've got everything I need, so why spend over $2000 at Dell when I can get the same exact thing for $800?

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo should pull out of the consol race.
« on: April 07, 2003, 02:22:50 PM »
I think it's a good idea in theory that the people would buy Nintendo's games because they're on other, cooler systems or whatever.  What you don't realize, obviously, is that people don't buy the GameCube because the games are kiddy to them.  They look at Zelda, for example, and see it as kiddy because it's not SUPER REALISTIC LIKE SPLINTER CELL.  They don't see it as a work of art, everything to them has to be realistic.  Even though something as far fetched and as a huge clone of Quake as Halo is, it's the best thing since sliced bread.  So what good would selling their games on another console do?  If people don't buy the console the games are on now, what makes you think they'd buy PS5 or XBong 7 if they had Big N's games on them?

General Gaming / Which is better for TS2?
« on: April 03, 2003, 01:18:29 PM »
Yeah you have to buy extra stuff for the PS2 to make it 4 players, but who cares which one you buy.  If you can only find PS2 version, get it.  It's by far the best FPS to date yo, too many multiplayer options.  I don't play it right now, but I might just start back up.

lol I'd watch what you say yo.  My comp ain't too hot, that's why I was asking.  PIII 600 256 with a Geforce 2 MMX 400 64 MB doesn't do a whole lot for next gen games.  I'm content with the video card for now, I just need a new processor first and foremost.

lol sounds like you're speaking from experience there dude.  do you absolutely need to have those high requirments?  if so I might just have to go get a better processor.
