So long as it's here for Christmas I don't mind.

Your thoughts?

I have to disagree with that articles assertion that the WiiU second screen is a harder proposition to market then the Wiimote original was.  Push come to shove they can say its the DS home console.

I don't know there is two conflicting reports. Both seem to agree that Europe will be a few weeks late because of manufacturing cost. So it's either coming in October (Which there were earlier rumors of because that's when ACIII releases.) or November when Nintendo usually releases its hardware.

I don't thin Assassin's Creed III's release date as any impact on the Wii U's release date. You didn't see people saying it would come out in August because that is when Darksiders II came out. I still think November 18 (the Sunday before Black Friday, their traditional release date for GCN/Wii/DS) is most likely for North America. Europe and Oceania in early to mid December. Japan maybe late November.

To be fair, Assassin's Creed is a much more commercially successful franchise.  I think the first two sold about 10 million each, while the first Darksiders may not have even cracked a million.

Sounds right. North America and Japan usually get priority. Launching a system simultaneously in three regions is not Nintendo's forte.

And I highly doubt Nintendo wants to rush production just to meet a worldwide release date. Look at what happened with the Xbox 360...

360 was rushed because they could no longer make anymore original Xboxes, not because of wanting an international release date.

Rushing the 360 worked out well, because it gave them a full year head start on the PS3 and this is why the 360 dominates this generation (unless you count the Wii in its first 3 or so years).

Rushing the 360's production and manufacturing also caused all of the hardware problems that the console had.

@Louieturkey
If you read the book "The Xbox Uncloaked", it says that Microsoft wanted a simultaneous international release because they wanted to see how feasible it was.

Yeah, but I think the prose outweighed the khans in the long run.

I understand that, but it wasn't the reason the launch was rushed.  It was rushed because of their problems with nVidia.  Because of their money, they were still able to pull off the simultaneous worldwide release, regardless of the much shortened timeline.  If they didn't have that problem, my guess is the system would have been released in early to mid 2006 and would have never had all the RROD problems it ended up having.

The Xbox 360 was rushed because they were bleeding money with the Xbox even after 4 years. If they were making a profit, they would have kept the Xbox going longer than they did. nVidia had nothing to do with it.
