TalkBack / RE: Nintendo Releases Virtual Console Details
« on: November 16, 2006, 10:32:00 AM »
Nintendo seems unprepared for launch. No weather or news channels, and no online games. Perhaps it would be best to wait and see if they can pull everything off before purchasing.

Honestly, not too much that I'm interested in. Just Zelda, Excite Truck, and Red Steel.

I'm not watching the show just for something that will be on YouTube the next day. Maybe if they were giving out Wiis.

Why don't they put all of their games on the download service right from launch? Do they suck at making emulators or something? One N64 game is just pathetic.

Best Buy isn't the type of retailer that does pre-orders.  They'll put whatever they get in for launch on the shelves, and then it's first come, first serve.

That's how I plan on getting mine!

They uses to do preorders, on games at least. It's how I got Halo 2. I'm not sure if they still do that, though.

Why does the S-Video cable cost as much as the component cable? When can we expect to see $8 third party cables that work just as well, if not better? And I guess this is confirmation that Nintendo was wrong when they said it would support VGA?

TalkBack / RE: The NEW Mailbag Talkback Thread

You have the wrong link to this thread in the latest talkback. Anway, as to your statement 'You're obviously never going to see a Mii running around with a gun in a gory first-person shooter", why do you think that? I could definentally see some developers, like Free Radical, doing that.

I'm disappointed with the price, and the fact that you have to buy Opera. It should be included, especially for $250.

As far as I know, Nintendo has pretty much no protection for DS WiFi. I'd expect cheating to get worse once people can use an Action Replay to cheat.
And cheating should be lessened on the Wii if Nintendo just does what Microsoft dis for the Xbox: sign games, and check the bios hash. Of course, that didn't eliminate cheating, especially in Halo 2. Hopefully Nintendo games won't attract as many cheaters/jackasses as Halo.

Muse and Paul Oakenfold  are the only ones I've heard of.

The only ones i can think of are:

Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced
Baten Kaitos (only becuz u are a spirit or whatever in the game)
MegaMan Battle Network (sorta becuz of the net world and the real world)
Eternal Darkness (...well its more like u play as a character that is playing through a book:confused
Viewtiful Joe (sort of cuz u play a character who plays in a movie world?)

Either way i think none of these have made the concept as compelling as Contact so im definitely(hah didn't use "defiantly" :thumbsup keeping an eye on it.

Wario Ware, for sure.

TalkBack / RE: Nintendo Announces 42 All-Time Classics for Europe
« on: July 27, 2006, 01:11:49 PM »
Is this game only 4 player over WiFi? And, complete list of games? Oh, and it launches in Europe instead of the US? Maybe I'll just start playing the European version then, as it should have worldwide play.

I thought the disc being upside-down was pretty silly as well.
And doesn't the 360 have a sync button for the controllers?

Product placement sucks. They seriously put a press release out about paying someone to put the DS in a kids movie?

The trailer said it was out in 2007, so it hasn't really been delayed.

Where are 1-7?
Oh, and I think Wii's router support will be a lot better, since it's b instead of g, and presumably isn't rate limited.

So, that's around US $140 for the DS itself? Still not too great of a deal.

Talk about milking your characters. I'll pass. Regular Monopoly is good with me. Maybe if you made it digital. And,

You're talking about Monopoly Party, I assume, since that's the only Monopoly I see for Gamecube. What was wrong with it? I have the Xbox version, and thought it was a pretty good digital version of Monopoly. Let me guess, you tried the party mode where everyone rolls at once, and didn't bother to find out that you could switch it to a normal game of Monopoly where you take turns? Or maybe you're talking about the AI, which I wouldn't know too much about since I usually play with humans?

TalkBack / RE: New Justice League Games for DS and GBA

I like Justice League. But these games are probably going to suck. Hope the console versions are good.
BTW, can you make it so tabing out of the Quick Replay box selects the Reply button? I always tab and hit enter and end up back at the PGC homepage.

Scott Hedrick: The Opera browser is saved to the Flash ROM on the Wii console, and does not require a separate memory card as Opera for DS does. The browser can be launched in only a few seconds, immediately delivering a great user experience.

Is it just me, or was that a trick question to determine whether Opera was included with the console out of the box?

Nintendo announced at E3 that Opera would be built in, no trick questions about that needed. His answer seems to suggest that Opera will not be included on the 512 MB internal flash, as I'm assuming there's a seperate ROM chip. I wonder if the browser is upgradable? I primarily want to know if USB keyboards will be supported. It would be horrible if they weren't

TalkBack / RE: DS Demos Through WiiConnect24
« on: June 02, 2006, 07:33:11 AM »
I also hope we'll be able to play VC NES and SNES games on the DS. I doubt we'll be able to, however. I also doubt Wii demos. DS demos are only a couple of MB. I'd expect many Wii demos to at least be over 50.

I would rather they charge $200 and make the Wii more powerful. Perhaps just adding some RAM, perhaps a better processor.

"The GameCube sold 1.2 million units in its first season in 2001 in the U.S."
The Wii will have a better launch lineup though. Anyone know how many Gamecube were produced worldwide in that timeframe?

Well, you certainly need at least the 10m version.
