Looks like Resort won't make a million this year.

If Dragon Quest couldn't do it, why would Resort have a chance?

If it's selling 67K a week, it should hit a million by September at the latest.

Casual console gaming has hit a wall in Japan.  Those sales legs will self-amputate themselves by August, just like the unsold copies of Resort I saw at GameStop.

Man look at those sales. 20k is low, but at least its the highest of the low hahaha. DSI seems to be doing ok.

We need a constant flow of awesomely original games and now.

Normaly I never get pissed off about how games are released with Nintendo. I know in the end I will be super duper happy. But if we don't get squat for a thousand years at a time pluss I dont hear anything about Donkey Kong, Star Fox or F-Zero, I will be extremely pissed. Now if its one or the other thats fine, but both together? I couldn't deal with it.

man that is hard to read on my screen in Firefox, but it looks like if you take all of Sonys earning from 1999 till 2009 (10 years), then add in Q1 of 2010, Sony barely breaks even.

'99->'09 = $428,284,392
Q1 2010 = -$416,670,000
_____________________
total profit = $11,614,392 over the last 10 years (Y wont Sony drop the price of the P$3!!)

I'm still not sure how the PS3 managed to nearly erase all the profits from the PS1&PS2 eras, but that is still nothing in comparison to the massive loses that MS has taken on.
If it wasn't for the massive restructuring that they did, they wouldn't even show those last two years as profitable. They are just shuffling losses to other departments by moving the debt around.

MS's year-end 2009 total probably isn't $1.88 billion.  It's probably $188 million (cuz my calculator sez so.)  Which is... well... at least it's profit right?

Interesting. I think this shows that NPD fails at guessing Wal-Mart sales and possibly doesn't take Amazon/other online site sales.

Is NPD typically this far off? It really makes me wonder about some of the other Wii games that sold with mediocre/average sales.

I think the surprising thing in the quarterly financial report Nintendo released today is that they only had 4 games sell 1 million or more worldwide for April/May/June:

Pokemon Platinum
Wii Sports
Wii Fit
Mario Kart Wii

SEGA Quarter 1 financial statement

The Conduit sold 150K units in North America, ending June 30, 2009.  Europe didn't receive the game until July 10.

LOL CAN'T TRUST NPD ANYMORE HUH

I believe that is 150k shipped/sold to retailers, not sold to consumers.

but I could be wrong.

Sales are sales, even if the shipments were given to dancing Australian elephants.

But NPD tracks how many the stores sold, not how many they bought.

Right.  NPD can only count with 9 fingers, so that's as far as they go.

It's not that NPD chooses not to count certain stores, Walmart just refuses to share their sales numbers (I think it was only last year that they finally started sharing their CD sales info with SoundScan).
