~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So it appears Ninty's retailer conference could be is happening 8 days earlier than last year's...
Even though last year had some rather tasty tidbits, let's keep expectations and speculation realistic, okay?
And just as a refresher, here's all the major goodies from last year:
  • Monster Hunter 3 Wii Exclusive
  • Sonic in Smash Brothers Brawl
  • Wii Fit presentation
  • Mario Kart Wii revealed to have bikes and to include wheel
  • WiiWare details - FFCC, Pokemon Ranch, Star Soldier R, etc. revealed
  • Mario Baseball Wii, Fire Emblem DS
~~~~~~

I see a Wii Music presentation, a Pikmin 3 reveal, and another big exclusive 3rd party game (I'll go with Square-Enix) to be likely, with a smattering of smaller Wii/DS title revelations...

I was going to say that, but then I saw the date, I think it'll get a release date before that event.

Well it's the only first-party Wii game that has been announced but not shown, so yeah...

I've never really seen it as an announced game.  To me it was similar to "the Mario and Zelda teams are working on something".  Very vague and with no details of exactly what is being made and when it will be released.  Miyamoto confirmed that they were working on Pikmin after E3 flopped with pretty much everyone who actually pays attention to it.  He noticed that people were pissed and dropped the Pikmin comment to try to put out the flames.

We're probably going to see some sort of Pikmin product at some point but it might not be Pikmin 3 and we don't know when it's going to be released.  They might not have anything to show yet.  So I wouldn't consider it "officially" announced.

Um, when the creator and director of the project says "We are working on it" that means THEY ARE WORKING ON IT. It may not have a press release, but what's really the difference?

I think it's a huge difference.  All sorts of "announced games" that are revealed in low key interviews and such never see the light of day.  I don't think he's lying but for all we know they started on the next Pikmin only a few weeks before and it's just in the planning stages.  Maybe they'll brainstorm for a bit and then decide not to do it.  I doubt Nintendo's going to think "oh wait we mentioned it in passing once so we have to do it."  An official press release or unveiling shows that there are solid plans to release the product.

And again while they may be working on it WHEN is it supposed to come out?  Who knows?  So it doesn't make sense to assume that they're going to reveal it at their next press conference.

^in a recent interview miyamoto said that "the controls are working very well" or something to that matter for pikmin.

I serious doubt that it's still just in the planning stages.

I'm not falling for this again.....

The only thing I'll bank on is a Captain Rainbow trailer. They'd surprise me if they announced the game is headed to America.... but then again, this is Nintendo so they'll just say that they have fun stuff in development and not be specific about anything like dicks.

Ok, well, back to my hole.

Considering Captain Rainbow already came out on August 28th, I wouldn't be expecting that either.

This is it, the MEGATON conference of 08! Looking forward to brand new trailers of F-Zero Wii, Pikmin Thwii, a totally revamped Animal Crossing Wii that isn't crap, Donkey Kong Jungle Bwiit, New Zelda teaser, maybe a new Paper Mario. Not to mention some first party WiiWare stuff, probably a new 2D Metroid and some new IPs. Wow can't wait.

Oh yeah I forgot, third party stuff too. Capcom buyout anyone?

I expect a lot of people to be dissapointed with this conference because of a lack of 1st party old school core titles (damn I almost typed tities).
