Cause I dunno if its worth it? Will it play American Games? Can I DL DSWare from Japan?

I am honestly shocked that this doesn't appear to be a spambot.
Unless you have money to burn, it's probably not worth it. Import prices are $300+ and the unit will likely retail for under $200 when it is released sometime in the first half of next year. It can play all cartridge games, but DSWare is region locked and I don't think you'll be able to download anything unless you fly to Japan.

Well no spambot here... I havent ever imported anything before... so I have no idea how it works... sounds insane, maybe i can get someone to get it for me, I know people who go to japan from time to time.

I was tempted too, especially since my DSLite is now severely cracking (2nd DSLite). It is being held together right now with a bunch of scotch tape....
When the import price was announced it shut the door for me. If my DSLite holds up I'll wait till next year....otherwise I'll be borrowing my sister's DSPhat.

FYI for you potential importers the Japanese DSi only has Japanese as a language option for the console menus.

I am in the US... and if i can get it cheap enough, reasonable enough price and if it will get released with an English Language boot than I will get it.

The topic is valid. It's probably going to be a good year before the english DSi comes out, there will be importers. I'm just going to wait. Being patient seems like the best option sadly.

Isn't it confirmed that a Japanese DSi will not play US download games? That sounds like a pretty good reason to not import to me.

after watching the video demo of the DSi on 1up. I now want this extremely bad.
But i'll wait until the summer for a US version. or whenever it comes.

Yeah like the Wii, the DS shop is region locked. Also unlike the japanese DS and DSlite, the japanese DSi only has one language option which is obviously Japanese.
