I loved the one shopkeeper who had the surgical mask on.  Beware the avian flu/swine flu/SARS.

Pretty cool. Kinda reminded me of those travel documentaries you see on TV (albeit considerably shorter).

Well, TYP and James Charlton can correct me on this, but I believe the reason the man had a mask on was because in Japan it is common courtesy to wear a mask if you are sick. If I am not mistaken Japan is a very health conscious country, and considering that they have a large population living together in tight spaces I don't blame them.

I know this because I've noticed in many Japanese animes, TV shows, documentaries and even American shows about Japan that sometimes characters wear masks in they are sick and need to get out. Its considered common courtesy to protect yourself and others by wearing a mask. Hell, even one King of the Hill episode had Hank trying to talk to a man who was wearing a mask.

Even if the shop keeper was wearing it in fear of the recent outbreak he was also being considerate of other people since he was selling his goods on a very, very tight and crowded space.

Again, TYP and James can correct me on this.

As for the video feature, thanks to Densha Otoko not only do I see Akibahara as the cool, nerd chic place I also see it as a romantic place :p .

Awesome work, once again. I wish there was a Part 3! Maybe we can shoot some video at E3 and let J.C. produce it for us. ;-)

Thanks for all the nice comments guys!

@papa64 - you are absolutely spot on with your observations, impressive!
Japanese people do indeed wear masks to prevent spreading their colds/flus onto other people, this has always been the case and is nothing to do with swine flu/SARS etc!
People also wear them when visiting sick people so they don't infect them while they're in a weakened state.
Kinda makes sense really if you think about it!

@Jonnyboy117 - so I'm the NWR video editor now? I guess I brought it on myself!

As a final note, as TYP said in the first part, please help us get this video out to as many people as possible. DIGGing it would be a good start!

Much thanks.

I've also been told that Japanese people will wear masks if they are worried THEY may become infected. It's quite possible that guy always wears a mask at work just to be safe: so many people go by each day that some are bound to carry disease.

I'm really proud of Part 2. James did an awesome job of cobbling together our non-Potato footage from the day to make an entertaining story.

Chaos is one nasty beverage. It really is like expired grape cough syrup. The lighter Cosmos is nothing to write home about, but it can quench in a pinch. It's like... hmm... kind of an herbal Fresca, which is better than the previous Advent Children Potion. That stuff tasted like herbal Surge, complete with a green tint. *Shudder.* I'm also kinda shocked at how long Chaos and Cosmos are sticking around. Previous incarnations were rare collector's items. These are everywhere even after 6 months.

For those unaware, my drinking Final Fantasy potion is a callback to an episode of Radio Trivia in which I tried Cosmos. Cosmos tastes like Squirt.

This is where I went every other day for a year when I was there. I didn't make a feature out of it though because I literally hate each and every NWR reader.

We hate you to SUPER.

I liked how TYP made a horrible grimace when he tasted Chaos, but he continued to drink it.

@DAaaMan64 - Do you REALLY want that? ;-)

@Flames_of_chaos - Quite simple really I used a pretty standard HD Camcorder to record and iMovie 09 to edit.
One piece of hardware and one piece of software - anyone could do it really!

That was fun guys, thanks for that.

Anyone notice that that copy of Punchout was being sold for around 153 bucks? And the next game (I forgot what it was, maybe Dragon Quest) was almost 300!
