Mirra Leaves XXX
« on: August 19, 2002, 09:42:44 AM »
The world-famous BMX rider has decided to drop his name and presence from Acclaim's upcoming M-rated game.

Over the weekend, reader Photek sent us the link above, which leads to a transcript of an online chat Dave Mirra gave before the newest X-Games competition.  Mirra claims in the transcript that his name has been removed from Dave Mirra BMX XXX, the first-ever rated-M extreme sports game.

Planet GameCube contacted Acclaim this morning, and the company did confirm this information.  Dave Mirra's name will not only be absent from the game's title, but he will no longer be present in the roster at all.  The game's new name has not been finalized, but it will contain the words "BMX XXX".  It's still due out in November for all three consoles, including GameCube.

So have Mirra and Acclaim parted ways?  No.  In fact, the star just renewed his contract with the publisher for five more years.  Although he won't be appearing in Z-Axis's final BMX title for Acclaim, other games featuring Mirra are planned for the future.
