"console has just as good a chance of being a hit no matter how the Wii U performs in the end."

Doubt it, how many gamers are going lineup for the next system?  The WII was the only exception during the what 30+ years of console history.  Atari, Sega, ect.

As I said, 2 years ago, you know when they still had the lead and yes I would require Nintendo to put in some sort of "effort".   It's the totally opposite of what they did for the 3DS.  When the 3DS was failing, they went for an price cut and boom--sale spike.

Can't be done, please.  Games can be patched easy enough, most games wouldn't even need to.

Here's an idea, drop the WII U Gamepad?  Spaltoon can easily be patched with a mini-pad same with the main OS.  So far Nintendo hasn't made a compelling case for a REASON to have to overpriced gamepad so it's long overdue they drop the damn thing.  MS dropped the Kinect 2.0 like rotten fish, Sony dropped VITA, yet Nintendo refuses to make any change with their home console?

They could have easily dropped the WII U price to $200, 2 years ago, and wouldn't be in this sorry state that they are in now.

Man, Xbox Japan is a total failure at this point.  Xbox One had a price drop in Oct but it didn't effect sales at all :0  PS4 boost is about where I predicted it would be.

With the holiday coming up I expect to see maybe 300K PS4 being sold in Japan.  The two biggest titles for Japan's fall-winter break are Monster Hunter X and Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem.

Not sure why but MHX humbers are going be CRAZY.  Not sure why the series is as popular as it is in Japan but I expect an easy 1-2 million first month sale figure for it alone.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is just the cart version though, digital version been out for awhile now even in Japan.   Not to mention is was on PS4/Xbox One months prior to the Vita version.

MGSV drop is a big alarming though, right now it's at 1/2 million (PS4/PS3) combined but the second week sales nearly flatlined. Wonder if this game is going have any legs in Japan.

Xenoblade/Starfox were never going be Nintendo's Ace-in-the-hole IMO.  At best you're looking at 250-300K (NA) for each title which is a drop in the bucket.  Mario Tennis should do double that just on name brand alone.

Right now I think the best move would be to focus on the games that actually selling/sold.  Namely making more DLC and reducing prices to pre-existing games (hell I would throw in a few wii titles in as well).

Couldn't MS and Sony just have the game preinstalled like Nintendo?  I'm guessing Gamestop will eventually go after those preinstalled deals as well.

Doesn't really matter to me, haven't shopped at GS in a few years now, goddamn sticker whores.

Wow that WiI U love.  One old game, one F2P, and finally Disney Infinity.  Exciting stuff.  Not sure why Nintendo doesn't attend TGS since it's like the E3 for Japan.  Even if they didn't have anything new they could have at least had another "tournament" especially consider Super Mario Maker just was released.

:(

Kinda low sales for an 2D Mario game but if like anything like Splatoon then it really doesn't matter.

Persona 5 is officially delayed until 2016 which just kills me, this was supposed to an stellar year for RPGs but atlas, no Final Fantasy, no Kingdom Hearts, and now no freaking Persona :(.

Still have Fallout 4 and Xenoblade X.

----------------
PS4 price cut won't take effect until Oct 1 so the next couple of weeks I'll expect lower numbers than usual.

Well you have to give it to Sony and their TGS 2015 showing.  If anything they are not content with 2nd place in Japan and they are going for blood.  A whole range of exclusives, more colors, and a price reduction for the PS4 (which makes it comparable to WII U pricing) leads me to believe Sony knows what it needs to do to reclaim the top spot.

While Nintendo's basically swapping out their bundles with different downloadable games, keeping it two plain colors with no custom art, and at the same price point it was 2 years ago. :(.

Hell yeah, :0.  He was the "choice" that I wanted mostly because he spent some time in the good ole USA and his family still lives here.  Nintendo really needed someone that understands the entire market instead of focusing on "homeland" Japan.  Gives me some hope for an Metroid 4 anyhow.

Metal Gear PS4 bundle help hardware sales past the 50k mark.

Still believe the NX is a portable system.  The 3DS lineup (2016) is pretty damn sparse (one paper Mario game, an Zelda port, and the late translation Fire Emblem) which usually means Nintendo's gearing up for a change.

Specs, I would place an portable system close to the power of the PS3/WIIU and top res to be no more than 720P. What's going be new--GPS, and maybe a phone contract service plan.

Price point, $250 with one game and 16GB card.

There's a couple of things Mass Effect did right though, I loved the backstories to the characters and they actually had meaningful quests to go along with them.  The main overall story to Mass Effect 2 was weak IMO and I would have to agree it was the weakest game in the series.

For the DLC stuff, it's mostly DLC for the 3rd game that was pretty decent.

---------------------------

But if you really wanted an emotional game you should try Lost Odyssey on the 360.  Gameplay wise it's standard but there's some stories you'll find (mostly just written texts) that will leave you in tears.

--------------------------

If you wanted odd-ball humor you should check out Shadows Hearts series (mostly the 2nd game).

•Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies: $16.79 (from $29.99)

Hmm...cheapest it's been right?  Since it's an eshop ONLY title I might have to buy it at that price.  Still they should throw in Miles Edgeworth 2 on eshop while they're at it.

Finished up The Order 1886.  Enjoyed the game but it's missing 1/3 of the game.  A lot of questions go unanswered and the final boss battle underwhelmed.  Also the QTE was a joke, not only was there a ton of it but it was lackluster even compared to other QTE gameplay. Get ready to press X or triangle, here it comes, so EXCITING.

I can see promise in the setting/plot so hopefully there's an proper sequel but I would have been a bit annoyed if I bought this at $60.  It's easily 1/2 of a game and should be been priced as such.

Trine 3 sounds like it ran into the same issue, ran out of funds so it was released rushed/unfinished.  *sad* face.

Splatoon is doing an amazing job in Japan for a new IP.  Nearly selling as many units as Mario Kart 8 for the same time period. :).  Yoshi died in Japan :(), not sure what happened by selling at 50Kish is pretty damn sad.  Still not sure why the game was delayed in the states.

Still not sure why the PS4 continues to sell?  FFXV delayed another year,  KHIII is MIA, Deep Down is vaporware, yet the system continues to sell?

68
Xenoblade (first game) was published by Gamestop in NA so that I think that's the hold up with E-shop.  Gamestop is still selling the original at $80?

Called it 3 years ago :).  Crowdfunding at it's best.  I wonder if anyone on this site funded the game?
..

Did you resync?   Sometimes the best solution is the one you overlooked?  Also did you try "another" gamepad to test you base unit itself?

--------------------------

Don't feel to bad though, both my PS4 and WII U fans died two weeks apart.  :(  You know how much of a pain in the ass it is to replace a simple ps4 fan?

My thoughts on Evil Within.

It's a pretty solid survival action game that's held back by some glaring flaws like the auto-save and instant death.  There's tons of "cheap" deaths and while I usually don't mind repeating a few minutes of gameplay but repeating the same CGI cutscenes was pointless.  And the quick-save is a hit or miss on some of these missions, usually saving at odd times like a few seconds apart to being so sparse that you curse the developers each time you die.

And you'll die plenty.  168 times for my first playthrough :(.  There's a total lack of ammo and the drop rate is a joke at best.  Even on normal mode it takes 3 pistol shots to down one zombie but the chances of him dropping ammo is like 5% or so and even then it's usually one or two rounds.  Some weapons are pretty much useless like like Magnum since there's only ammo for it in a few chapters so really you shouldn't bother firing the gun until the last chapter (believe me you'll want to save that ammo).

Some weapons are just plain weak.  When's the last game you played where the grenades didn't kill everything in the blast zone?  It takes two grenades to down even the weakest of zombies (and that's with it fully upgraded).  The melee weapons are one hit wonders then breaks.  Your fists, even at 240% extra damage output is a joke (you'll have to hit the weakest zombie at least 10 times).

----------------
The sneaking missions where the highlights of the game IMO but of course the game had to end with a horde mode, waves of waves of zombies with no ammo.  Curse you.

----------------

It's the closest thing to Resident Evil (1) that I've played in a while and it has it's moments but you'll want to use a guide (namely there's keys to find and you'll want to know what locker to pick) and you'll want to play only a few chapters a day.  One can only accept so many cheap deaths in one DAY:(.

72
Is it already apart? You can just get replacement screws at a local True Value store.

Or if it's still attached you can try a few methods like hammering your screwdriver down or you can drill but I found it easiest to just use a bonding agent ($5--metal on metal) and a cheap spare nut.  You'll have to replace the screw but it's simple.  If it's a tight space you can also bond it to a (throwaway) screwdriver--I usually find these at garage sales, to worn to use but still have their purposes :).

I wanted him to resign so I'm not going pretend to miss him but I'm looking forward to the next president.  Nintendo in large been very stubborn to adapt to the "modern" gamer--voice chat for one thing.

I welcome change.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: 10 years since the last Advance War game.
« on: July 03, 2015, 03:02:43 PM »
And yeah gameplay wise it's similar to Fire Emblem without the RPG elements, instead you focus on strategy elements like getting resources (capturing buildings in this case) and building up your army of disposable units :).

It's made by the same team (Intelligent Systems) that made Fire Emblem but don't expect a lot of story.  In the first two games the plot is pretty thin but it's makes up it with Japanese anime type humor/characters, in the last game Advance Wars: Days of Ruin the series took a much more serious tone which killed the game IMO--I prefer the first two DS games, Advance Wars 1 or 2.

You can get Advance Wars in the Eshop for $8.00 which isn't a bad game just a bit dated.

There's been four games released stateside:
Advance Wars (GBA)
Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising (GBA)
Advance Wars Dual Strike (DS)
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (DS)

And you don't need to play them in order to understand the main plot.

Yeah, the last one was 2008, my bad.

And it's turn based, Nintendo added Advanced Wars 2 to European WII U VC shop this month and I think I liked that one that best out of the ones that were localized anyhow.
