General Gaming / *sadface* Whatever happened to good ole Splitscreen MP.
« on: October 13, 2015, 12:09:35 AM »
Halo 5, Starwars Battlefront, Splatoon--

Man, miss the ole days when friends can stop by, pick up a controller and join my game.  Halo 5 has zero split screen and Battlefront and Splatoon have limited splitscreen support for one mode each.

General Gaming / Wow, Square-Enix E3 show
« on: June 16, 2015, 02:01:24 PM »
Man, the fook is up with them some a bunch of mobile games?  They should have saved that FFVII remake for their own show because they are drowning in their first e3 show.  :(

Just painful to watch.

General Gaming / Substandard year in gaming--2014--GotY contenders?
« on: September 13, 2014, 05:47:51 AM »
Pretty damn weak year in gaming IMO.

Looking at my GOTY contenders and it's a pretty damn bleak list, hopefully fall/winter titles add some sweats but this year's best titles are a few remakes (the last of us for example).

My list of games that fell short of the hype:
Watchdogs
Bravely Default
TitanFall
Dark Souls 2
Destiny

=================

Right now it looks like GOTY might go to an indie game (Shovel Knight).

General Chat / Bleach/Tite Kubo Anime Cancelled
« on: April 28, 2012, 03:27:14 AM »
Not sure if anyone still follow the anime Bleach but they finally been given the axe.  Loved the first couple of seasons but after the third the series went downhill fast.
Loved Kenpachi and Urahara, it's to bad they didn't get more airtime.

Last night I decide to take advantage of Best Buy's buy 2 get 1 free deal just to drive to the store (after receiving my confirmation email) to pick up my games and low and behold they're not there.  Spend about an hour in store waiting for the employees to search but they come up empty and give me a telephone number to call.

Call up BB Customer service and after another 1hr and 1/2 find that they don't have any of games available in my area nor in any of their stores and will not be able to process my order so the whole thing was canceled.
Check by credit card to see if I was billed and notice not only was I billed but I was overcharged nearly three times what the order original was.  Called up CS again and waited nearly an 1/2 hr to finally get an agent, another 1/2 goes by after I give them all the info just to have an "disconnect".

I just spent four hours being fooked by BB--great way to start the day :) .

Nintendo Gaming / Fire Emblem 3DS
« on: February 16, 2012, 03:44:59 AM »
News;
"Famitsu revealed that Nintendo's Fire Emblem: Kakusei for 3DS will include an option to toggle Permanent Death, a classic feature in the series when a character dies, he/she will be gone forever. The game will have 40 job classes and three difficulty settings, including Normal, Hard and Lunatic."
It's been about 5 years going on 6 since we got an "new" FE game.

General Gaming / Ninja Gaiden 3 --tonned down--most likely rated T
« on: August 21, 2011, 10:17:56 PM »
No more beheading your victims or cutting them to ribbions :( .  Ubisoft removed M rating from the Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands a year or so ago and now my beloved NG series is getting the kiddy treatmeant.  The bad news is developers think the M rating is hurting sales but if you look at Ubisoft's example--it actually the other way  around.

Boo, I'll most likely end up getting the game but it's sad to see the publisher/developer taking this road IMO.

Nintendo Gaming / Marketing tips 101--previews work
« on: May 12, 2011, 01:54:25 AM »
Ever wonder why most video games don't have trailers of other video games?  Doesn't make any sense to me.Take your average WII game file which is 3GB or so, that leaves 1.5GB of unused space?  Why not fill it up?  It's 100% free  and a great way to market your game.

Nintendo Gaming / Are we ever getting Player's Choice games in NA?
« on: January 23, 2011, 05:33:56 PM »
Nearly the end of this generation and we haven't seen any player's choice titles in the states, we had a few Play Control ones from the GC era but what about this generation?  Last year they released a few other in Japan with that killer royal box art.  Yeah, some games like Mario Kart continue to sell but what about Punch Out.

What's your take on it?

General Gaming / Does anyone play using Fightsticks--
« on: January 15, 2011, 02:32:53 AM »
Looking at a new project coming up, going convert an older xbox 360 into an arcade cabinet, and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good cheap fight stick.  Looking at sub $100 since I'm going to need two.

General Gaming / My 6 month review of Gamefly
« on: July 01, 2010, 02:55:10 PM »
History:
Started an Gamefly account of the begining of the Year
2 game plan at $23
Recieved 36 titles in those months which is 6/month.
Never had issues with shipping either way

Review:
We all heard of the horror stories about gamefly's past but from my experience it has been good, not peferect but still the best solution we as gamers have to renting games.  The selection is great, though they don't carry any of the OLD classics but they have all the hits for this generation (for both the handhelds and home consoles).  The games are in great condition, haven't had any that wouldn't play, most look like new.  Shipping is hit or miss.  I can usually get 4-6 days shipping both ways but not aways--80%.

Tips for Q:
Don't expect to get the newest releases on Day 1, by the 3rd months most games are mid to high availablity.

Two, don't add games to your list that you really don't want to play, I hear this all the time--"they sent my something that was 6th on my list" blah--if you really just want a certain title then keep your Q empty as much as possible.

Third, in the rare case both titles are in the mail, I have older titles to complete to play.  If you don't have any I would suggest buying RPGs or a game with MP support or even a game like MK.  A fall back game when nothing comes in.

Forth, check with your PO to see if they quick scan.  You can cut down shipping in almost half since they will ship your next game without waiting for it to return.  My PO employees don't always scan them in though but it works great when they do.

PS:
What's the score number under my name tag?  Has that always been there?

General Gaming / Want a good laugh? Visit your local arcade :).
« on: June 21, 2010, 11:42:45 PM »
It's literally been years since I went strolling through the local mall but I had nothing to do and needed somewhere's the beat the heat (my AC needed recharging) so there I was standing in my local arcade and you know what--nothing changed :0.

Stratch that--instead of what was new games back then like SC4 there was replacements--OLD replacements like the orginal Soul Edge.  Took a glance around and alot of games were nearly 10+ years old now, hell some of them dated back to early 90's.

Man, consoles really did kill them, I was there under an hour but there was at least 3 of us there.  One was an employee, the other was a kid that tried selling me grass--twice ;0.

Delays--one right after then other.  It's going a freaking drought this winter and an easy win for GOTY since all the big hits have been delayed until spring 2010.

Think all my 2009 picks have finally fallen into 2010 though I called EB and they still honoring my Red Steel 2 bundle with motion control plus (they made a mistake and listed it at $40 instead of $60 :) ).

RE and Deadspace is still coming and my cuz is going love TMNT but it's a going be slow year compared to last.

Nintendo Gaming / What's the best bundle/deal for the DS Lite?
« on: June 10, 2006, 05:25:53 PM »
Man some of these retailers have gone nuts with pricing, EB's robing people with some $195 (mario bundle) which is you buy those three items seperate you'll actually end up saving money.

129.95 is the retail price for the DS lite and Mario is $30 and that third party madcatz grab-pak is a not worth over $25.

What's the point in a bundle when it doesn't save the customer money?

Anyone pick up any good bundles?
