Well that sucks. Sometimes changing something that is simple yet well made is not a great idea.

One of my favorite places to eat here in Arizona is Chile Pepper/Mr. G's which is a local Yuma only chain. But it's an award winning place. The Bean and Cheese burrito is simple, but it is just well made.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/destinations/2012/12/18/the-best-burritos-in-america/1778287/

I used to get cravings for this place when I lived in Tucson.

But back to Wendy's. You're right. Wendy's burgers should not be greasy. They're pretty well drained by the time you get them. As far as the Baconator goes. The Baconator when I worked there was just a double with bacon on it. The way we would make bake was in a Food safe probably polypropylene container in a microwave. It looked sort of like a plastic shoe box. It was greasy as hell.

I got a Jr Bacon Cheeseburger a year ago. Something seemed different at that point. The patty seemed taller yet with a smaller circumference. Previously a jbc was just a single 8th pound patty with 2 slices of bacon.

But you know what I really miss? The Jalepeño bacon cheddar melt. That was awesome. Whichever version they had when I was working there was great. I used to eat that on my break.

Another thing to note is that article about the change is from 2011. They may have vacillated between burgers over the years.

I used to work at Pizza Hut too, but I got nothing great to say about them. They haven't been good in years. When I eat pizza lately I eat at local chains.

Do you ever eat at Round Table Pizza? That is similar to how Pizza Hut used to be. and Godfather's Pizza too.

Not in several years. There was one in town, but I don't know if it's still there....but a lookup says it is.

I had Village Inn pizza a week ago. I don't think it's chained with the other Village Inn chain.

Round Table is good, but typically way over priced. They just opened up one in town that is built like a pizza pub, so I've been meaning to go with some friends. If nothing else their cheesy bread is bomb.

I like Pizza Hut but the reasons for it are very specific and oddly enough it might be hard for me to discuss it without getting political so hopefully this doesn't violate forum rules.

The Canadian government has supply management for the dairy industry.  That's strictly factual.  As a result prices for dairy products are largely fixed and there is a very large tariff for importing dairy from other countries.  The price of cheese in Canada is quite high compared to, well, pretty much every country I've ever visited.

As the cheese prices increased pizza places did not want to charge higher prices for their pizzas so instead they cut back on the cheese.  As a result pizza around my area is pretty much all **** and I tend to only eat it when at a party that serves it.  At Pizza Hut if you get the cheese lover's pizza which has "double" cheese it ends up being a tolerable pizza.  Double of half equals one so you get what used to be a normal pizza.

That is an odd situation!  I feel like some places in the US go completely overboard with the cheese.  I went to a by-the-slice place once and it was like eating a giant mozzarella stick.

Its a funny balance. You need a generous amount of cheese to make a good pizza, but some people have a philosophy of cooking that going overboard on ingredients is how you cook well. And too much cheese can be gagging, even for a cheese lover like me.

Possibly due to habit, I actually prefer pizza when they don't go too heavy on the cheese. I want the whole experience to be balanced for flavor and texture; the "giant mozza stick" effect makes me gag a little bit.

(Which is odd. I used to love mozza sticks when I was younger.)

One thing that I do miss is McDonald's pizza. This might just be childhood nostalgia speaking, but it was pretty awesome. The sauce was great, and the crust (did it use cornmeal or something?) was unique.  So yeah, that probably warns everyone that my taste in pizza isn't to be trusted.

I think they have it in Vegas too, at least they used too. Because the Vegas style sign they made for McDonalds on the strip had the word Pizza in it. I assume it was made back when they were pushing that. I haven't been to Vegas in ages though, so it may have changed.

What's this?  There are still McDonald's restaurants that serve pizza?!
Being in Canada, hearing they are available in Florida doesn't help much... but I'm curious if it's the same thing. You'd have to assume not, since the pizza I remember was pulled off the menus in the early 90s.

McDonald's pizza was supposedly still available at the McDonalds in Squamish BC well throughout the 90's.  They don't have it anymore though and this might have just been schoolyard rumour to begin with.

Good call. That's what I got today. $21 for a 12 slice large pizza. It was really really good though. Got some cheesy bread and some cinnamon bread too.

I ordered from Pizza Hut last night.

Ordered a Large Super Supreme with Stuffed crust using my reward points, so it only cost me $3.
I replaced the beef with bacon, and the black olives with roma tomatoes.

can I just tell you that was such an improvement to the flavor of the pizza.
I think that's my new favorite at the Hut.

Ya know it is funny I have been trying new combos from Pizza Hut and that one of bacon and tomatoes is one of my new faves.  I like the crunchiness of the bacon and the sweetness of the tomatoes.   It comes together nicely.

Impossible Whopper is going NATIONWIDE next week
https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/01/business/impossible-whopper-national/index.html
(FYI, you can only currently get Impossible burger meat from Burger King, as they bought out the entire supply chain for the near... and possibly foreseeable, future)

Who is gonna buy an Impossible Whopper, and then next to it a Regular Whopper and do the side by side taste test?

Who is gonna be our guinea pig?

edit: hint.... it might be me. I'm curious, and carnivorous, and therefore don't believe all the opinions out there about how you can't taste the difference.... you get 1 chance to make me a believer.

I haven’t had the Impossible Whopper, but I’ve had many Impossible Burger patties at a small, suburban non-chain in New Jersey where I used to live. I order it regularly because I’m monitoring my cholesterol consumption. I exercise regularly; it’s bad genetics apparently. Anyway, I can tell the difference if I’m paying attention. If I were to have some blind taste tests, I may fail a few. The Impossible Burger is really close to a regular beef patty, notably closer than the Beyond Burger which itself is pretty good. If I had to describe it, Impossible Burger is a decent beef substitute, but it can’t substitute the fat where a lot of the flavor comes from. Put it against a Kobe beef patty or a brisket mix, and yeah, you probably can tell.

Honestly, that's how BK should advertise the national roll out.

"Take the Impossible Whopper Challenge"

and it's a 2 Whopper meal (1 Impossible, 1 Regular) both in identical wrappings, 1 Fry, and a drink.

and if they really want to step it up and entice people to give it a try, figure out a way to keep track of which was which (special codes on the wrappers?) and have people take the survey to choose the correct sandwich (same survey where they usually give you a free whopper for taking) and give some prize for choosing correctly.

Right = 1 Free BK Combo coupon (or $5 off any combo coupon)
Wrong = 1 Free Incredible Whopper coupon (since you couldn't tell the difference)
