Rub It! Love It! Rabbit!    

SAN FRANCISCO (November 10, 2005) – SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA® Europe Ltd. today announced that they will publish The Rub Rabbits!™ exclusively for the Nintendo DS™ system. Developed by SONIC TEAM, the creators of Feel the Magic™, The Rub Rabbits! delivers an all new "rub comedy" adventure offering innovative gameplay, quirky original music, stylized art, and many new modes and features.    

The Rub Rabbits! leverages the unique touch-screen and voice-recognition interface on the DS hardware by challenging gamers to switch from tapping and rubbing to screaming and blowing as a means of controlling character actions. Four brand new modes have also been added, including the Hullabaloo Mode, in which you and a friend get finger-tied in rounds of "Twister," and the Connect Mode, in which you can play any of six multiplayer games with up to four friends. You can also play in a time attack of previously cleared chapters in Attack Mode.

Getting the girl is never easy, especially when competing against 12 other rivals. Players will battle rivals and win the affection of the game's love interest, and that's just the beginning. The Rub Rabbits! offers over 35 chapters in Story Mode, in addition to double the content in the newly expanded Memories Mode, which tests players' skills at clearing all stages for added bonuses; and Maniac Mode, which is packed with character customization options.    

The Rub Rabbits! is hopping into retailers in February 2006.

The Rub Rabbits are a group of characters in the game. It wasn't made up out of the blue.

I don't think the game would sell well to conservative people who would think it was a sex education game.

I could swear there was a sex education video with that name.  A legal thing?  So maybe it's like how Capcom couldn't use the original "Biohazard" title for the Resident Evil games here in North America.

At least it's just the title they're chopping up.  Right?

I love the name.  It's funny as hell.  I hope it comes in an embrassingly bright pastel box with big lettering.  I'd be showing it off proudly.  People from far and wide would say, "Woah!  That dude just bought Rub Rabbits, it must be cool!  And the next thing you know, you'll be watching Tedi Bruschi of the New England Patriots shilling for it because that's just how manly a game it is.  Wow, that made no sense.

There was a sex-education book titled "Where do babies come from," which is probably why a name change is necessary... That sex-education book was pretty good though...

The real problem with this game has nothing to do with the name.  Feel the Magic was stylish and a pretty decent game, but not decent enough to warrant a sequel without big improvements in my opinion...unless they've changed the game design (doesn't look like it from the screens I've seen) or come up with much better mini-games this time around, I don't think this will be worth buying - unless you've never played either game.
