It exists on Wii U and we know the date, but the final game needs a few things.

It wasn't an RPG, but there was a major announcement at the Pokémon World Championships as many expected. The launch of Pokkén Tournament for Wii U in Spring 2016 - you can probably pencil in May 27 for North America - portends to another busy summer for me following the launches of Mario Kart and Splatoon the last two years.
Coming out in that slot has certain expectations, especially if Nintendo of America is going to continue their unfortunate trend of releasing precisely jack squat in the three months following it, so here's what I'm looking for in order to be fully satisfied with the game.
Good Launch Content: So far, we know of 9.5 playable characters and eight supporters, which would be the lowest amount for a major fighting game since Street Fighter II on the Super Nintendo. Here's hoping that we start hearing about more characters dropping into Japanese arcades (and Dave and Busters) to fill out the roster. There are 721 Pokémon and you have to resort to using Pikachu twice? John Cena doesn't get that kind of push. There's a perfectly functional luchadora already available. You've had capoeira fighters and pandas playable in Tekken games for years. The greatest puncher and kicker in the known universe aren't in yet. And that's just in the Fighting type - between the aquatic gerbil and the ghost, just about anything could work. I'm hoping for at least a 16-fighter roster at Wii U launch.
Mario Kart 8 DLC Strategy: I don't think it's realistic to expect a Splatoon "Everything is free until some pre-determined point" strategy for a fighting game. Post release DLC is expensive to develop, especially for fighting games, and a certain percentage of owners aren't going to buy in. But I don't want them to go full Super Smash Bros where I'm dropping nearly $40 in a day on a few costumes, a character or two and a stage. (The "All DLC Bundle" that launched around E3 is $37 Canadian for both 3DS and Wii U versions of Super Smash Bros.) Mario Kart 8, or at the most Hyrule Warriors, would be ideal for a DLC pack price for two new fighters and some supports.
Resist The Amiibo Urge: The urge is going to be there to go balls-to-the-wall with Amiibo, since they're a perfect way to allow for stat carryover as seen in Japanese arcades. But the thing is, the Smash line of Pokémon Amiibo would already work well for this and three of the Smash characters are in an actual fighting game now (Pikachu, Charizard and Lucario). The Pokémon Company is notorious for their restrictions on Pokémon Amiibo - they don't work in Yoshi's Woolly World or Chibi-Robo Zip Lash, and they're apparently restricted in Super Mario Maker as well. At most, I'd like for existing Amiibo to store my stats, and maybe if you tap Greninja, Jigglypuff or Mewtwo they unlock early. But don't take this as an excuse to make 721 Amiibo.
