oh and why no built in accel? then you have added a real feature and have limited games from DS and DSi.

DS Option Pak would solve that actually.

Looks like Nintendo shot to hell any chances of Guitar Hero on Tour becoming an "Evergreen Game"....

Damn shame.

Where exactly are you going to plug in a DS Option Pak in the DSi?  All of the current ones go into the GBA slot.

I think what he was getting at is they could build it into the DSi but release an option so older DSs could still play the same games.

Do you think years ago Nintendo would EVER get away with this sh!t?  Can you imagine some souped-up SNES or something with game related features that were incompatible with the old SNES?  Never would happen in a million years.  They would get eaten alive.  But now that Nintendo thinks they're indestructible they just keep pushing it.

Did you forget about the N64 Expansion Pak?  Or how about the N64 DD?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Not to take Ian's side, but those are technically add-ons.  Other than the new screens, there's very little in the DSi that couldn't have been done with an add-on or two.  I've been expecting a DS camera attachment for some time now, in fact.  Clearly, that's not happening.

WTF, did some people here seriously suggest motion control for the device that the screen is attached to?

Aren't there 25 non-i letters in the alphabet just dying to be jammed into new technology names? Sure, X has been used to death with X Games, Xtreme games, Gen X, treasure map cartography, equations, etc but that still leaves 24 more to go!

They could make the add-on for GH and other stuff for the sd card slot which I believe is being added.

I'm excited about this, but I wait to see the pricetag. My DS Lite needs replacing. The screen is scratched beyond belief (thanks Zelda, CrossworDS, and Ninja Gaiden!), the buttons are mushy, the hinge is cracked, and the system just looks kind of dirty compared to a new unit.

But I don't like the idea of not having a DS Option slot. What am I gonna do with Guitar Hero and my Rumble Cart?
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

But this way both of Nintendo's main products have the same ending. Actually now that I think about it, DSi is to I what Wii is to we (if you catch my drift).

I wonder if this'll be like Game Boy Color where we'll see some dual-mode games followed later by some DSi exclusive games.

Thank god I have a year to think about it before committing to this new hardware purchase.

Actually, this news has me seriously considering getting a DS Lite!

Really? From what I count there's three, Monkey Ball/Kirby Tilt 'n Tumble, Yoshi's Universal Gravitation and Wario Ware Twisted.

I am definitely picking this up. Looks like a worthwhile upgrade to the DS, and since my poor DS has been so beat up (It was thrown around the cab of a truck during a wreck I was in) it will be great to have another one even if I keep my current DS lite because it holds so much meaning for me personally.

P.S. Poor Sony, they always get one upped. Their PSP revision seems pretty lame now in comparison to new features added.

Yeah, I'm already refreshing play-asia to see what their import price is gonna be.  I want to be an early adopter....

Unless they want like $250 bucks.
