It's pretty common knowledge that if it wasn't for WWII, then we'd all be living in poverty. This is why every Veterans Day you should find a WWII vet and give him a hug and a cheeseburger or some candy; those guys like the butterscotch. You should all also fly down here and visit the WWII museum. I'll be leaving for college soon, but you should go anyway.

The claim is that the the WWII mobilization helped America become a world power. It's easily debatable.

You got me on a technicality there. I should have used "USA', as using "America" not only underplays Canada's involvement, but also the fact that there were some worries about the role South America would have played in the war, as some countries were pro-allies and others pro-axis.
