"And why are the levels so damn big?"

Exactly why Kazooie is the better game.

It didn't actually feature Danganronpa, they just did an event that was very very clearly very heavily influenced to the point of almost ripping it off by Danganronpa. Was nothing official, unlike the other ones.

"Notably, this can restore the original camera controls to Sunshine from the 2002 GameCube release."

Why on God's green earth would anybody want to do that? The horizontal controls being backwards is one of the single largest reasons the Cube one is completely unplayable.

I am looking forward to it having an Invert Y though, seeing as how I do that in literally every game ever.

The original and TTYD are two of my favorite games. I finished it, but I burning fury hated Sticker Star (well, the combat system, anyway). Never played Color Splash because it looked too much like Sticker Star. Really enjoyed Super Paper Mario, but it wasn't really a Paper Mario game.

I'm cautiously optimistic. That short little Japanese video makes it look more like the original battle system with a preemptive action sequence glued on, which (if that's what it is) I'm entirely fine with.

I do not understand how this resulted in millions of bells.

96 * 618?

That's for every individual turnip. You buy them in piles of 10, and those each stack in groups of 10 (so each full stack is 100 turnips). So this week I bought 15,500 turnips (155 stacks) at 91 bells a pop (paid 1,410,500 bells) and sold them for 553 bells a pop (given 8,571,500 bells). So I made 7,161,000 bells.

I love puzzle games. I love escape rooms. I love out of the box thinking.

This game INFURIATES me. It's violently obtuse to the point of being categorically unfun to me. And it's not like it eases you in and the ramps up or anything, it's a brick wall from the first level of the game.

It's some people's cup of tea, I get that, and that's fine. But I got it on Steam for $5 at the recommendation of a friend, and it wound up being $5 too much.

("Ruin" is far too strong a word; I still play the game and still enjoy it.)

That it follows the same ruleset as PPT as opposed to TGM ruins this game for me. Not having a sonic drop when you're used to that being a thing is unspeakably irritating. I would trade the hold piece for having a sonic drop in a heartbeat.

Does this version also cap out at 20x15 ones?

The SNES NP ones had 25x20, and I'll never not be angry that they don't do any that large.

I'd get a Switch version of TTR and Pandemic in a heartbeat, if the price is right.

ie, not like Monopoly was.

I have Chronicles on the Wii U. I have Chronicles on the 3DS. I have never played either of them.

Part of me wants to get this game, but I'm terrified it will just land on the pile of RPGs I own but have never finished (FF1/7/X/XIII, Star Ocean TTEOT, Chrono Trigger, Sailor Moon: Another Story, Disgaea 1/2) or heck, never even started (Bravely Default, FFXII, Eternal Sonata, Disgaea 3/4, one of the Lunar games good lord I don't even know what I own anymore).

It's really a USA thing and not NA thing since Hulu doesn't stream in Canada unless that has changed recently and I've been unaware of the change.

It has not. And thus, nobody here cared.

To once again beat a dead horse:
*Nintendo United States Championship Except For A Few Chosen People We Hand Picked And Flew In
There, I fixed it for you.

Anyways, for the actual thoughts:
- Loved the event once again. Bring back Kevin Pereira, though. Admittedly, the commentators in the booth did such a good job that I didn't miss him anywhere near as much as I expected.
- Next time, do the game intros more like 2015, with the longer sound effects on a black screen. Part of the fun was guessing the game, but the SFX was so short this time that by the time my brain could process it to make a guess, the title was already up.
- Loved the extra rounds and thus more games. Best of 3(ish) round one was a great move.
- By no means do I pretend to be good at Tetris, but I'm pretty sure I could have wrecked anybody that was playing it there.
- SMBDX was definitely Game Boy Player; they were using GBAs with link cables. Brilliant game. The sadistic part of me wished there was a Yoshi's Egg hunt section, because I'm a terrible person.
- I totally get why the direct individual competitive games (Smash, ARMS) were there, but I feel like they sort of miss the point of the event. I could be the second best Smash player in the world (uh, I'm not, just so we're clear), but if I just so happen to get paired up against the best in the world, I'm kinda getting screwed.
- Speaking of Smash, it broke my heart that nobody used Yoshi in the Sandbag event, effectiveness be damned. I was shocked that everybody playing it knew enough about it to use Roy or 'dorf - I sure as heck wouldn't have known to.
- No more directly repeated games, please. You have 298374928374 games to pick from. Did you really need to do Balloon Trip again? At least Mario Maker was new levels and Splatoon was a different mode, so I'm willing to give them a pass.

I actually miss touch screen support much less than I was expecting to. Where it does disappoint me is the number of 10x10 puzzles and the lack of 25x20 puzzles - I know you can jump ahead to whatever puzzle you want, whenever you want, but 10x10s provide literally zero challenge for me and seeing the pages upon pages of them is disappointing; and while 20x15 still take a bit of time, they're not that overly difficult in the end. We had 25x20s in the Super Famicom picross games, so I don't know why nobody seems to want to make anything larger than 20x15 for this era.

Don't get me wrong - if you're a Picross fan, it's still very much worth the price for this. I just wish there were more advanced puzzles in it.

Is the touchscreen jumping missed, or no big deal?

It's either the worst thing ever or no big deal at all. I'm more in the latter camp, but totally understand why the people who loathe it loathe it.

Planned on getting this, but the demo actually dissuade me against it. I suck at Puyo Puyo and am meh at Tetris, and the AI is savage to the point of it not being enjoyable for me.

Curious to see what the power cord will look like - if the port is on the bottom (as was implied and I assume is required based on how it sits in the dock), good luck having it plugged in at the same time as it's in kickstand mode.

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 7 - Dirty Rotten Scalpers
« on: November 19, 2016, 01:07:26 AM »
I always have a hard time understanding this line of thought: something is clearly a dick move, but you have no moral objection to it.  So your morals don't suggest that acting like a dick to other people is a bad thing?  Or maybe you just value money over people - after all, it is a capitalist society we live in. Either way, I'd like a better explanation of how you can so easily justify the action.

Depends how one defines morality, I guess. I view it more of an objectively bad or objectively good (or somewhere in the middle) action, and the direct impact it has on somebody else. I have difficultly placing scalping on the scale at all, because it doesn't explicitly harm anybody / any group straight out of the gate. The item is still getting sold to somebody who wants it, one way or another. That's how, for things like this, I can differentiate between dickish but not immoral (see: NES Classic scalpers) vs both dickish and immoral (see: the guy who was hogging Rosalina amiibo explicitly to stop people who wanted them from having them and for no other reason, with no intention of selling them to people who wanted them, even at a markup). Now, in the case of a perfect or functional monopoly (see: if it's true that for a while Gamestop was taking all of their new copies of Xenoblade Chronicles, opening them all, and then selling them as "used" for double the original price), I would obviously place that on the dickish and immoral side of things, even though the item is still entering the marketplace eventually.

Legally, there is usually nothing wrong with scalping (except for those times when it actually is illegal... which happens more often than you might think but is usually just ignored).

Oh, I know all about that. That's how you get things happening like in places where it's illegal to sell sporting tickets above face value, scalpers will instead sell you a basketball card (for example) for $350 and just happen to be so kind as to give you a pair of tickets with it for free. Happened a TON around here during a certain sporting playoff run around a decade ago.

But from a common decency standpoint, I can't support people who regularly buy goods for the sole purpose of scalping them later.  Actively and intentionally denying things to your peers out of a hope that you can then extort more money from those same people for your own personal gain is incredibly asinine.

I didn't saying I supported the scalping at all, I just don't know that I have a problem with the morality of it. I agree it's asinine, though.

From a purely morality perspective, I have no problem with scalpers whatsoever. Welcome to the wonderful world of a free market.

I mean, it's a huge dickface move, yes, but I don't have a morality problem with it.

Will get for the wiimote compatible controllers, if nothing else. I have one of the Super Famicom classic controllers and adore it.

Also, taking wagers on the over/under until somebody manages to hack a cartridge slot into one of these things.
