NWR Monster Hunter Club
« on: February 09, 2010, 06:10:37 PM »
UPDATE 2/20/2011 - Server/City Gate - Greed 4, Gate 27, City 27.  There are 4 Hunters per room.  Overflow will be set up as necessary.
UPDATE 4/23/2010 - The official friend ID code list for this game is here.

IMPORTANT - To add a friend you must:

1) Both be online at the same time
2) Neither one of you can be in a quest

Use each player's Capcom ID (shown under your character's name on the character selection screen when you first go online) to search for them, instead of their name.  Then send them a Friend Request.

With the impending release of Monster Hunter Tri (April 4 or April 20, depending on whether or not you believe Gamestop or Amazon), I am officially founding the NWR Monster Hunter Club.

As the club's Chairman, I am looking for the following information:

1) Who is definitely planning on getting the game
2) What night(s) of the week would be amenable to the group for Monster Hunter Night

I want this club to be an ongoing entity, since Monster Hunter is much better when played with friends.

Capcom's Monster Hunter Tri teaser site is here.

The game's official NWR forum thread is here.

Let's do this.

Unless the reviews come out HATING it, I'm definately game. I'm not a big loot gamer, but I do like the idea of killing dragons and dinosaurs with swords. The very idea that this could be an ongoing weekly thing with fellow NWR colleagues and forum-goers makes the game intensely compelling.

...Now I need Wii Speak.

Instead of telling me what nights will work, I'll say what won't: Every weekday before six p.m. Zachlaska time, Wednesday nights (podcast recording) and probably Saturday night.

Otherwise I'm pretty wide open.
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

I'm going to pick up the game, but it probably won't be at launch and I unfortunately won't be able to commit to any dates/times as the time I'm able to devote to gaming is sporadic and ever-changing.  :(
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

My schedule is CRAZY because I work, go to class, and have an internship. That will all change in May, so my opinion shouldn't really matter with this.

That being said, I can do Tuesday and Thursday nights after 6ish EST, and after 9 PM EST on Mondays and Wednesdays.

File me in the "maybe" pile. A nice community online game always sounds fun, but I know next-to-nothing about this game. I'm going to need to see some reviews and such first.

I'm planning on either pre-ordering it or buying it the day of launch or shortly afterward.

The most surefire night for me is Tuesday since that is my day off. Anytime that day is good. I'm working to get another committed day off but prior attempts have not worked.

Tuesday is looking good so far.  It also works for The Chairman.

Note that I'm not saying that Tuesdays will be the only day staffers will be online; I just want a common rallying day that everbody can count on.

All I have to lose are a pair of gift certificates from Christmas so I'll be grabbing this one. Just going from the online game play footage that's floating around on youtube I think I'll enjoy it.

As for online times...eh the later in the day you want to play the later in the week I'm available. Hopefully I'll land a better job before launch but if not I'm off Thursday - Saturday

Mission...complete?

Tuesday will not work for me.  In fact, it's the only day I can say with absolute certainly that I won't be available.  Also, Lost airs on Tuesday.

The Chairman doesn't watch Lost, so it doesn't concern him.

I'm in this boat too, although probably leaning more towards a definate purchase than you are. I've only ever heard of the Monster Hunter Series when it was announced for Wii, and the concept sounds pretty damn cool, plus I'd like to enjoy more online gaming these days.

Unfortunately, I'm unsure of my work schedule... When I was hired for this new job back in November, I was under the impression I'd be working night shifts with only one day off a week by now. That hasn't happened, so I'm enjoying a cozey Mon-Fri "9-5" job. If the game were to be released today, I'd say Monday or Tuesdays would be the best time for me since the rest of the week I spend after work hours doing more personal social things, but again I can't really commit to anything right now.

Once the night schedule does kick in, It might end up being easier to to play games with the lot of you, seeing as a big chunk of NWR seems to be out to the West.

The Chairman is a punk.

One day, The Chairman will save you from a 50-foot-high monster.  And you will feel shame for these words, but I will say nothing.

Sweet.  What kind of time zones are we dealing with here?  I'm on Eastern, but I'd like to see how many West Coasters we have (since that seems to be the biggest swing, minus international people).

Is this game gonna be pay to play???

I'm probably game.  Tuesdays would be pretty perfect for me.  Or Wednesdays.  Those would be my top choices.
