erm.. try pushing eject? im not sure but thats normally how you open the lid.. i did do it once by throwing a controller at it but i dont recommend you try that.. also, wouldnt glue stop the moving parts from moving? correct me if im wrong.. but i doubt they would be designed to move if they didnt have to.. isnt there a better way to repair it? and wont the glue put weight on one side more than the other? im sure that cant be good for the motor..

General Gaming / RE:Mounting GCN on wall?
« on: September 03, 2003, 12:19:24 AM »
i dont think the gcn cares how it sits.. or how it moves or anything.. iv had mine on its side for hours (until i realised it was blocking the vents) and iv had it upsidedown for hours and hanging by its cables even for at least an hour.. once i got extra pissed and kicked it about a metre and a half(it would have gone about another metre but the wall was in the way) the game didnt even flicker let alone chunk or freeze.. the gcn has never scratched any of my discs (except when i threw a controller at it and the top opened and the game decided to keep spinning but off the spindle instead of on it.

i dont think you would have much trouble.. unlike sony or microsoft, nintendo are a GAMES company.. the make quality GAMES and GAME systems.. they know how to make them good.. who here has heard of a gamecube dying because of its own fault? or for an unknown reason?

of all the nintendo products i own the only problems they have had were for VERY good reasons, unlike my psx which after being dropped once by accident decided it didnt have an ext or mc ports.. also i currently have an xbox lying somewhere which wont recognise anything plugged into its controller ports..

General Gaming / RE:GBA Tunnel?

does the pc really need to know whats going on? or could you just make it send everything it gets off to another computer and everything it recieves down the link cable? btw.. the gba ext port runs an led fine with no resistor, i guess that would give you some hint of the power that goes through the cable.. also if any one makes it connect to the pc.. dont forget the gba can boot off the cable.. you can find the timing for something using an led, one of the pins has power at intervals and there is another which has power when the first doesnt.. this doesnt happen if the gba has already booted from somewhere.
i guess this could mean with the right programing etc and an emulator with a few changes you could play roms off your pc using your gba and the link. or (probably easyer) use the gba as a game controller (the same way the gcn gbaplayer does).

General Gaming / RE:Windwaker bonus Disc needing 60hz.

if your tv has a v-hold knob, try adjusting that once the game starts.. its always worked for me.. often tvs can work with 60hz.. they just throw the v-hold way out.

General Gaming / RE:possible to use an xbox controller on GC?
« on: September 02, 2003, 11:05:37 PM »
heh.. good luck making a gamecube run usb, but if you do find out how to make it work, please post.. youd be in for a lot of crap to make it all work out.. btw, if you didnt already know, the ports in the front of an xbox are standard usb (trust microsoft to design a game system) with a yellow wire added supposedly to tell the xbox what kind of controller is plugged in (eg. standard control, lightgun, dvd remote etc.).

General Gaming / RE:Gamecube Memory Card info
« on: September 02, 2003, 10:44:58 PM »
what were you all thinking??? who the hell even looks at a 3rd party mc let alone buys one??? dont you all know there is no such thing as a good 3rd party card? sure there are some which work fine.. for a while, until one day when, oops where did all my data go? i have only ever bought one 3rd party card and i returned it less than an hour after getting it home.

stop using this thread to complain about your crappy cards.. it was made for info on the official cards or using alternate hardware, not so you can all fight over who has the crappyest mc.

General Gaming / RE:Linux on Gamecube??

hmm.. i dunno if it could help, but someone has found a way of burning mini dvd discs as gamecube format and making them boot, i dont have a link atm, but iv seen the site and it isnt a hoax, im not sure exactly how it works eather.. i dont thing gcn discs are burnt like a normal dvd.
also, it wouldnt have to boot from a mem card, it could boot off a disc, gamecube can store stuff in its memory somewhere.. the action replay disc can be removed straight after it boots and you can still do whatever you want cos the whole thing is loaded into memory, also i guess you could run something off the memcard if you were that desperate.. altho i think it could work fine the same way as it did with dreamcast, just boot it then let it run.. there is a keyboard made for gamecube.. which will be released eventually.. hopefully.. so that would be cool.. assuming someone gets it to work on gcn first.
i have heard of a working emulator for gamecube too so i guess that would help with developement, altho you would probably need to edit the emulator since it only runs a couple of images, one being the dvd select menu, im guessing that was taken from the panasonic gamecube, i dunno how it was ripped tho, perhaps the whole thing is stored on a chip somewhere in the panasonic cube... i leave you all to think about that, oh and btw, i wouldnt say nething i dont think is true.. im not trying to fool ne1, some1 has made a bootable homebrew disc and also some1 has made a working emulator. (works with some demos and ports.. no actual games as yet)
