Title: DS launch bundles? Anybody heard anything?
Post by: NWR_Lindy on August 04, 2004, 08:40:51 AM: I was thinking of pre-ordering a DS online, but I'm thinking that there's bound to be some nice bundle packages available from several retailers. I'm definitely going to buy the DS and a couple of games at launch, so I'd love to get a bundle.

Has anybody heard anything? Gamestop or EB people? Anyone?

Obviously nobody knows anything yet. Its way to early. Personally, I wouldn't dream of preordering online, because I just don't like ordering online. But specially situations like this which preordering at your local stores will most likely get you some special bonuses.

As of right now, nobody knows when the system is coming out, or cost, or even what games will be available. To preorder now might make you have to pay more than you should for a preorder and not be able to preorder games to walk in and just pickup the package.

I expect by October well begin hearing about preorders and launch games, and perhaps even have store demos to try a few first party games. That is when I will preorder, and stick around the store and talk and hopefully create more hype and buzz for Nintendo's new system. I will have everything I can ready to defend the system and sway potential buyers, because I want this to succeed. (That way my purchase will have tons of support.)

Post by: g4ever on August 05, 2004, 09:03:52 AM: I work at Gamestop, and start at Best-buy next week. Also I have friends at shopko, walmart, toys'r'us, EB games, and gamers. However nothing has been announced yet. When pre-orders kick into high gear and they start to advertise there will be some anouncments on this. If I hear anything that doesn't make to Planetgamecube first I will post it ASAP!

I'm not going to pre-order online, but damn it's so tempting. I'm like a little kid, I want my toy NOW, and anything I can do that gets me a little bit closer to having it will calm my feverish mind.

For one reason I really want solid impressions of all the launch games, because I may wait a few months if there isn't a killer app for the system. Second, with the launch games I will only be able to buy two from the start, and I want them to be the best of the bunch. Sure that probably means I am picking up two Nintendo published games, but you never know, there are some very quality 3rd party developers working on projects right now.

I'm going to be watching all the usual sites very closely for reviews of the launch games so I know which ones are keepers. Then, I'm going to make some local video game store very happy. My goal is to have several games to keep me busy when I visit my family over Christmas...you know, on the flight there, sitting around Christmas day getting fat, on the flight home, etc.

I'm positively giddy about the DS I tell you, positively giddy.
