Who knew GTAV would sell that many copies? Seems like BF4 getting 1/5th of those sales is not a stretch.  I remember COD games selling over 100k in Japan so BF4 getting that many seems about right.

So last week's Wii U sales were a spike but it didn't go back down to the level it was two weeks ago.  This week's sales would have been considered a significant spike in comparison to two weeks ago.  So the 38000 wasn't the new trend but things still are much better over the last two weeks than they were.  It'll be interesting to see next week's and get a better idea of where things are going.

Well the one advantage this latest spike has is Mario 3D World is being released soon so the sales should jump again for that week, and then the December holiday season starts soon after that which always boast Nintendo hardware sales in Japan as well.

It really won't be until January that we see what the new baseline for the system in Japan will be since they once again have nothing being released that month and it's a non-holiday so sales will get lower, so that month will show us just how low they will get with the current bundle and games.

No surprise at seeing GTA at #1, though I am a little disappointed at the rest of the lineup there. And WTF are Pokemon X/Y doing as 2 separate entries? They're the same ****ing game, just with half the content locked behind arbitrary unlock codes.

I'm sure the combined numbers for X/Y put it over GTAV. So yeah. Pokémon was the number one selling game of October.

Pokémon still hit the multimillion seller though (something like 3+ million) so I'm pretty sure Nintendo's extremely happy about it.

I recalled when NPD used to actually have a decent list of numbers available to the public but the way they list things now it's basically worthless now.  If you don't recall years ago they used to list the top 25 games for each system separate with sale numbers.  Nowadays you'll have to settle with "leaked" numbers :( .

I'm surprised they separated Pokémon X/Y since I didn't think they did that, but I think it makes sense. It gives a more accurate idea of what the games are actually selling... or it would if we had some numbers.

I recall seeing Pokémon split in sales charts for past releases.  From a store perspective they're two different products.  Just because we know better doesn't mean a bean counter will know otherwise.

God Eater 2 for the Playstation Vita takes the top spot and proves that Japan still loves MonHun clones (Collaborative Battle Games or whatever term Sony used for their TGS presentation). God Eater 2 helped the Vita to sell 88k units; 42k of them being the new Vita TV home console.

On the Nintendo side of things, Pokemon is within a few hairs of surpassing MonHun 4. The Band Brothers sequel and and a new Medabot game slot in the lower top 10. The Wii U pulls in 15.9k, down from the previous week of 17.7k.

It's a Monster Hunter clone. It's listed twice because there's a Vita and PSP version of the game.  The Vita version is number 1 while the PSP version number 4.

I don't understand the ranking of that list.  3D Land outsold Galaxy 2, but is ranked second.

Interesting that Mario Sunshine had the 3rd highest 1st week sales, but the lowest total sales.

And SM64DS was virtually the only game that released with the original DS.  I bought it and I really disliked SM64.

Also: Zelda.
I actually like SM64DS a lot more then SM64 also Feel the Magic come on...

Also Monster Hunter 4 may you rest in peace.

I would love to see a port/remake of Mario 64 DS on a platform with actual analog control. I thought a lot of the new content was pretty good.
