Rayman Legends looks like another flop.  Less than 50K across all three platforms with WIIU leading at 20K.  Damn that's not good at all for Ubisoft since Splinter Cell isn't selling much neither, their last hope lies with AC Black Flag and Watchdogs.

Monster Hunter 4 is still dominating, leaving new releases picking up scrapes. The retail version of Final Fantasy 14 shoots back up, probably due to selling out of initial stock. The 3DS has now surpassed the lifetime-to-date unit sales of the Wii.

Anyone know what caused the Wii U to gain traction and pass up the Vita that week? Appears to be a combo of the Vita dropping by just about as must as the Wii U rose, yet don't see anything in the top 20 to indicate it unless Monster Hunter is really kicking the wind out of the Vita's sails.

Probably 800 Zelda fans buying a Wii U in anticipation of Wind Waker HD.  Pikmin 3 caused Wii U sales to increase by a few thousand the week before it was released, despite there being no Wii U games on the charts either.

GTA crushed all while Puppeteer and Wonderful 101 flopped.  I wonder if Wonderful 101 would have sold a bit more if the name wasn't so "Japanese" cutesy.  After Viewitful Joe you would think game companies would rename games coming to NA and Europe.

A title like 101 Heroes might have sold better in the states IMO.

Monster Hunter 4 continues its reign. Wind Waker HD lands in the 7th spot with 30k (behind My Little Sister Can't be this Cute: Happy End) and not pulling in many new Wii U owners. Disney Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion places 18th with 5.5k units sold.

Other big games last week were Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash (PS3/PSV), Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate (PS3/PSV), and Armored Core: Verdict Day (PS3/360).

GTA crushed all while Puppeteer and Wonderful 101 flopped.

Source?  I absolutely believe that's what the September NPDs will show, but I haven't seen any official numbers released for Puppeteer or Wonderful 101.

I be very surprised if the Puppeteer and Wonderful 101 don't have almost exactly the same number.  Though we probably don't have digital for either of those.

Lets be honest we all knew that GTA was going to make a lot of white noise this time around.

So Nintendo's 1st real big Wii U game this Fall (Wind Waker HD) crashed & burned in Japan with only 30,000 copies sold in its opening week. Granted, Zelda's always sold better in the West and consoles in general are dead on arrival in Japan nowadays, but that has to be a hard blow. I'll be interesting to see how well 3D World does now.

What? When you consider that you spend the majority of Wind Waker trying to save your "cute" sister, it makes perfect sense that those two games would sell about the same number of copies.  :P:

Wind Waker is among the top for this weeks in regards to share of platform holders purchasing.  Assuming that the same percentage bought the game if it had shown up on other platforms the number would have looked like this.

3DS:  359,578
PS3:  265,080
PSV:  51,366
WiiU: 30,264
PSP:  558,118
WII:  354,354
360:  45,575

I don't think getting over 2% of the platform is bad this week.

Then how will I manipulate the numbers to show that a WiiU game is actually in the Second Spot?  Plus 3DS has been dominating for the past... Well almost since release.

Well Nintendo didn't exactly do Wind Waker HD any favors by announcing these new bundles last week, just a few days before the game was released.

Both bundles come out on October 31st, and contain the Wii U games the Japanese audience will actually care about.  Buying one of these bundles save well over $100 rather then what buying a Wii U and all the games by themselves would normally cost.

So if you're a Japanese Nintendo fan who hasn't bought a Wii U yet, there's really no reason to buy one until October 31st since these bundles contain games they really want and saves them money in the long run as well.

Wind Waker is a re-release and I think it is kind of silly to expect such a title to move consoles, particularly when the original version is playable on the Wii.  You don't need a Wii U to play Wind Waker.  I think re-releases are more effective in padding a release schedule, to get some impulse buys out of the converted.  Did Nintendo expect EarthBound to sell Wii U's because that's a re-release of a game that is much harder to find an original copy of and required hardware that had been out of print for like 15 years?  There is a greater justification for buying a new system for it.  However you can buy a console that plays Wind Waker in stores right now in the Wii.  Used Wind Waker copies are also neither rare or expensive.  Wind Waker HD costs more money than an old copy, compared to the Wii U version of EarthBound which is peanuts compared to the very expensive SNES version.

But one game is a virtual console title and the other is a retail title being given the marketing push that a brand new title would receive so there are expectations for one and not the other.  Realistically they should be seen as comparable - a side salad but not the main course.

Zowy, they just said "throw in everything" didn't they? 2 or 3 games and a Wiimote+? I want it.

I hope Wii U picks up considerably but I honestly don't think it will with any of Nintendo's current franchises. I suppose if the online on smash is amazing people might go nuts for it but it's going to take a brand new off the wall, every day life activity game that is a seemingly forgettable title to do that.

Or Wii Sports and Mario Kart we'll see.
