Topic: Mafia 78: Day 3 - Out of the Lynch Mob, into the Murder Pool

We had an interesting time last night at the after-party, as a fight broke out among the contestants. People seemed dead-set on hanging Pokepal148, but everyone was slipped a $20 Origin credit and the warpath was quickly forgotten. After the afterparty, a few of us hit up the bar for additional drinks, but we lost sight of a few people. By the time the development studio got back to the office there was already a host of police swarming the scene.
Despite having avoided a deadly encounter with the towns-folk, it seems someone wasn’t fully satisfied with the outcome of last night, as Pokepal the Townie, was found dead in his room.
But that was not the only reason police were on site, as now we are questioning the effectiveness of our security team and camera system. For it was discovered that another person was not present in the morning. We checked her room, only to confirm our worst fears. For lolmonade aka Laura Bow the Investigator, was dead as well. She was found with a large quantity of green and red mushrooms shoved into her mouth, her cap torn up on the floor.
 
Considering these pressing issues, we will not carry out today’s activities. Instead, the police would like to know the following:

I was in my dorm and taking photos around the area. I am a pretty good photographer.

I did vote for pokepal but I was pretty sure they were hiding something. I guess I was wrong unfortunately.

I don't really go out and hang out in parties and such. I am such a geek.

What did you drink at the bar?
If I would chose to drink at a bar I typically go for margaritas. It isn't a very common thing though.

When was the last time you saw either of the victims last night?

I didn't really have much contact with lolmonade and they didn't really respond to me.
pokepal I talked a little bit with them but they really didn't convince me to change my vote.

Who were you with throughout the night?
 I was with my friend Chloe and we cuddled a bit.

Dear Panic Button and Popo,

I am very saddened to hear about the developments that occurred last night. As I'm sure you are aware from my previous letters, I considered pokepal, an employee at Level 5, to be a friend of mine. I want to do all I can to help in the investigation and find those responsible. Allow me to tell you all I know.

Where were you last night?

There was a lot of mail today, so I helped out as a temporary postal worker. Everyone was so happy to get their letters! It felt good!

What was your involvement in the almost deadly fight last night that ended in a draw?

I was playing with a sparkler and saw something glowing in the grass. Looking a little closer, I noticed it was some bells, er, I mean, yen, dollars, moolah. Yay!

What did you have at the after-party?

I bought a fortune cookie and gobbled it up. I didn't really care about the fortune inside. I really just wanted the cookie.

What did you drink at the bar?

I bumped into a friend, so we sat on a bench and talked a lot. It was fun!

When was the last time you saw either of the victims last night?

I was sitting outside on a bench reading a book. Before I knew it, I'd slept for hours. And now I think I might have caught a cold. Sorry I can't help you there. I have no idea when I saw them last.

Who were you with throughout the night?

I invited everyone to my dessert party to celebrate the end of the week. They all loved my treats and insisted on paying for them!


Of course, I always feel that a successful interview involves questions from the interviewee. Therefore, I'd like to ask about something. It's come to my attention that lolmonade was supposedly an employee of Adult Swim Games to work on getting Duck Game ported to the Switch. But Duck Game is already scheduled to be coming to the Switch. Therefore, his being here doesn't make sense. However, that was just a cover story. lolmonade was actually an FBI agent looking into a conspiracy in the video game market of fradulent business practices and bribery and corruption. I received a curious letter from him yesterday that I couldn't make sense of at the time but with this new information now makes sense. He was asking all kinds of questions about Lucario from Sony and whether I could corroborate any rumors he had been hearing of Lucario's involvement in the Yakuza and organized crime. I could not because I didn't really know anyone from Sony and their situations. But now, I think he was on to something and was silenced because he knew that Lucario is Mafia! Is there a reward for solving this mystery and finding the perpetrator? Can I be deputy? Can I come along on the raid? Do you have a list of suspects? Because, even if you do or don't, I un-vote Lucario be put at the top of your list and am certain he is the one responsible for this.

I think the important thing is to try and find who is sending out the hits.  Mop it up has been pretty active each day but not really contributing much to the discussion.  I think that  Mop it up is a good choice for the vote based on her not really contributing very much and I think Khushrenada was on to something yesterday.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I may say, I was shocked to learn that you feel that BeautifulShy FlyHigh games is actually a front for the yakuza and organized crime. I remember a few years ago that there was a questionnaire posed to various people in the gaming industry which excited me as I do love to do a little survey from time to time. One of the questions was regarding who people thought was the most honest company to work for in the industry. It was almost a unanimous Vote for BeautifulShy FlyHigh Games. But perhaps that's because their mafia connections threatened a lot of people into saying that and helping them with their cover story. If I have helped you link Lucario to BeautifulShy FlyHigh Games to expose this videogame mafia then I am most honored. Thank you for letting me know the results in your current investigation.

I feel I should repay you somehow and I believe a good way to do so is to answer a couple more questions I wasn't able to get to in time a couple days ago.

What are your thoughts on adding motion and touch controls?

Having worked on Nintendo titles, I am quite familiar with incorporating motion and touch controls in games and thus have no issues there. But my question for you is: What are your thoughts on adding Amiibo funtionality? Because I've got some serious plans. Which leads me to.....

Do you have plans for expansions and/or DLC?

Oh, do I ever! Rather than just re-release this game from the Wii U to the Switch, I want to make a few tweaks. For one thing, I've decided it might help to appeal a bit more to gamers if there was more variety in the game maps make-up. Instead of the same path over different seasons, perhaps a couple different pathways could be created and maybe a few more descriptive events could be added for when players land on board spaces. Currently, the game supports 16 Amiibo figures that players can use as their character in the game to play the board maps. But I want to add more playable characters. It may have been 16 for Wii U but how does another 400 playable characters sound? That means another 400 Amiibo Figurines to get created! It's going to be epic!

On top of that, I want to subtitle the game Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival - Lottie's Revenge! to help differentiate it from it's Wii U origins. That's because I want to add a new mode to the game called Lottie's Revenge. How it will work is that if a player taps in 10 unique Lottie Amiibos then they can unlock the complete Animal Crossing: New Leaf game to play as well. That will show all those people who didn't buy a Lottie Amiibo and are just letting them wallow on store shelves! Plus, that should get some of the higher-ups at Nintendo off my back who keep making remarks about the Animal Crossing Amiibos being worse than the Virtual Boy. So, I hope you like gravy trains because Amiibo Festival is going to make us all rich, rich, RICH!!!
