11yr Old Girl Writes to Nintendo: They Respond
« on: May 24, 2010, 09:25:58 PM »
Not sure if this is the right section but its about the DS...
Saw this on Digg thought it was cool:

Notice that--before the corrections I assume--she got a "C" on it lol I hope the teacher upped it after the response.
Silly monkeys; give them thumbs they make a club and beat their brother down. How they survive so misguided is a mystery. Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an a eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.

Who said I live in North America?
You're questioning that before being eleven years old?

The letter gives no indication that Nintendo gave her a DS (Go Nintendo just assumes that), I honestly doubt they would give a free DS to a girl just because she asked them to.

Try reading the original source.

Quote
The company responded by sending Helen's school an older model of the Nintendo DS.

Nintendo says products are given out on an "ad hoc basis" and that the DS was sent to Helen's school.

It was not specifically for the young girl, the company said.

"We don't give them out often because obviously we do receive a lot of requests," said Nintendo public relations manager Helen Murphy.

"We do have a small allocation to give out to schools."

Before Nintendo sends free products, they carry out a diligence check to ensure requests are genuine.

The article also hints that Reggie's gonna go on a Down Under name-taking expedition to find whoever posted the letter online.

TJ if you read the bottom of the letter you would have seen that Nintendo responded by saying to enjoy the DS.Meaning that they sent it to her.

I read the bottom of the letter, and it sounded like a standard reply they send out (i.e. a intern saw that she wanted games on the DS, so she added the standard reply of saying she hopes the girl enjoys the DS). Not sure how you got that to mean they sent her one based on the reply.

Your kidding right TJ. Based on the response if they didn't send send her one than it would look like they weren't being truthful. Besides most of the auto responses I've seen are not really personal.

I've seen a lot of auto responses posted, and that is what they usually sound like. What does it matter anyways, her school got some DS's that students can use while at school.

I wonder if he will run into Crocodile Dundee while he's down there. Crocodile Dundee is Reggie's equal in many respects. Its hard to say who would win if the two of them were ever to clash.

Had the original article been included here or at the Go Nintendo article posted here, I would hvae. This is the first mention of that article i've seen.

I found the article by clicking a couple of links starting from the Go Nintendo posting.

Also, "With compliments" is something you say when you give something to someone.  That's hard to misconstrue.

The article also hints that Reggie's gonna go on a Down Under name-taking expedition to find whoever posted the letter online.

I wonder if he will run into Crocodile Dundee while he's down there. Crocodile Dundee is Reggie's equal in many respects. Its hard to say who would win if the two of them were ever to clash.

Fortunately, Crocodile Dundee isn't the type to post things online, what with being in the Outback calling crocs "mate" or whatever it is he does, so the world will be spared that battle for now.
