Doesn't sound to me like it's "out the window" just yet.

Indeed. My hatred of Microsoft and Halo are in conflict with my loyalty to Peter Jackson and co here.

edit: actually, I don't hate Bungie.

Even if I liked Halo, I don't see this movie going anywhere, the story itself is so lame, and the concept so generic.

I have a hunch these copmpanies are just trying to tell MS that you don't get a videogame movie made if you come them with a large list of demands to make sure the movie is consistent with the game. How can you make a movie if you don't let Hollywood butcher it? No love interest? No taking off the MC's helmet after the intro so people can see the big name actor?? That won't sell!

MS should tell them that the Master Chief will be the next Darth Vader. Halo will be a trilogy, and he'll only take off his helmet at the end.

And we'll see Denzel Washington beneath it.

I'm glad Microsoft wants to stick to it's guns on the story line and not be inconsistent with the games, because Hollywood seems to do this way too often to videogame movies which sucks. Here is the problem though, Halo is BORING. The storyline is generic as are the characters. The situation is not intriguing and the movie is probably going to suck if they don't try and spice it up a bit. In any case, I wasn't going to see it before and I certainly won't go see it now.

The storyline has enough going on to work as a novel so I think it'd work nicely as a movie.

I like Halo and Bungie, but hate Microsoft and I honestly think Peter Jackson is afraid to cut any scenes out of his movies. Sure it worked for Lord of the Rings, but there's no reason King Kong needed to be as long as it was.

And just from how bad video game to movie adaptations have been, I'm glad its losing support.
