Nintendo Gaming / Re: Nintendo vs Apple: FIGHT!!!
« on: April 25, 2011, 08:32:21 AM »
next Apple keynote...Jobs introduces Reggie, Iwata, and Miyamoto...and the system is available as the keynote ends.  LOL

WWDC is on at the same time as E3 this year.......Co-operation between Nintendo and Apple would be a friggin' nerd ask moment for me however that's so unlikely it's not funny.

As an aside I got an IPad 2 on Canadian launch day, I have to say I'm finding some of the games pretty awesome, there are some shitty games with poorly thought out controls but there are some awesome games on there too.

Superbrothers, Infinity Blade, Burn the rope, Tiny Wings and an awesome version of Chu Chu Rocket have been my favourites since I got it and there's loads more games I've yet to buy.

It's not the best game machine ever, but I know I sure as hell bring my DS with me a lot less than I used to.

(Sent from my iPad :p)

The less speedy genesis version of Sonic was better for gameplay they should go back to that.

I'm with Rize, there are so many open world games these days.

Does every game have to be made into open world for you guys? Sometimes I like some structure, I've rarely found open-world games satisfying.

Just completed the story mode this morning. (bank Holiday Yeah!!!).

Not just a great game but a great Batman game. Truly captured the spirit of being Batman in my opinion. From the hand to hand fighting that just flows the way batman does to the sneaking around in the dark and picking enemies off one by one. I don't know that you could make a more authentic batman. They even got some of main voice actors from the anitmated series back along with Paul Dini to write it. I'm quite happy they left it open for a sequel, more please!!

The predator sections were by far the most fun for me. I think someone mentioned the Eternal Darkness influence which was quite evident in certain parts of the game, but equal mention should go to Manhunt. The predator sections were quite reminiscent of Manhunt but much much better, more polished, more possibilities and just more fun.

I enjoyed the Riddler challenges too,  though I'm not sure I'll go back and try to solve them all.

Are you talking about the Silent Knight (extreme) challenge map broodwars? Because I had no trouble at all with that medal. Were you directly adjacent? or at a funny angle?

Edit: typo made gave a sentence a very different meaning than intended.

The point remains that the PS3 has more games that appeal to kraken is interested in.

I find myself in a similar situation and it's quite frustrating to be told your opinion is purely PR garbage when it is simply an honest appraisal of what you like.

Just to respond to a few people first of all

Smash Brother to be perfectly honest I don't think Microsoft cares very much about the artistic integrity of the medium. If they stand to lose money they'll fight. If a government was playing to ban all sexual acts or suggestion (drugs or any supposedly taboo subject for the sake of argument) in video games and Microsoft didn't think it would have a noticeable effect on their profits I don't think they'd lift a finger to stop the censorship. So I don't think I agree with your view that everything will be alright.

Also Smash Brother have you ever seen A Clockwork Orange? The protagonist rapes a helpless woman in front of her husband (admittedly not a child) near the beginning of the film but by the end you are led to feel some sympathy and warmth for the character. The film was rated X but was allowed to be released unedited.

Spak-Spang why would it matter to you that someone down the street is playing a rapegame in his house, alone not hurting anyone?

KDR is right about internet censorship. Almost all censorship movements over step their original mission statement.

Deguello don't be obtuse there is an obvious inherent need for slander and libel laws as people need a reliable source of news and people should not have their reputation ruined by lies and misconceptions. That has nothing to do with limiting artistic expression. It is a straw man argument at best.

They could distribute it via the internet but not via any other means this is not "free distribution" that is restricted distribution by definition.

I can see Ian's argument about picking your battles but censorship is wrong in all cases. As long as no-one is harmed in the process of making something then there is no rational argument for banning something.

After all if no-one wanted the product no-one would buy it but some people do so they must enjoy it. You should not trample the rights of some to suit the tastes of others.

If they polished it up the gameplay could be similar to punch out in a sense I think.

Which isn't a terrible game to be compared to.

I think Reggie may be right.

The Wii and DS seem to operate on a different sales cycle than games traditionally.

At least to a certain extent anyway.

A movement to longer-term sales over blockbuster first weeks would benefit consumers in my opinion. Word-of-month sales model benefits games of good quality while first week/month sales speak more about marketing than actual quality.

I'm much more excited for this than I would be another Metroid Prime game.

I like the Prime games and all but I think I'd prefer a fresh take on it.

The more i see about this game the more I like the look of it.

Can't wait for 2010.

To Flames of Chaos Speed Racer had a very noticeable amount of auto-steer and the controls wouldn't adequately work without the auto-steer.

Even disregarding the auto-steer Speed Racer doesn't have as demanding a track design as the F-Zero games had in terms of turns.

I own and enjoy Speed Racer. I'd even like a successor (not a sequel because I doubt they'd go to the trouble of using the Speed Racer license again) from the same developers using that engine but I don't want auto-steer in an F-Zero game and I still think tilt controls would detract more than they would add to an F-Zero game.

To Plugz, its out on 1st August in Europe so a little while to wait to get moist for this one unfortunately.

Just checked it's not out until bloody August over here.

BTW: F-Zero has no business using the Wii Wheel.

I can think of no way to implement it without gimping the controls.

You need quick turns in F-Zero something that the set up cannot adequately provide.

It needs to steer with the nunchuck! (F-Zero that is, Excitetruck/ExciteBots is a very different game and designed around Wiimote turning)

Nintendo Gaming / Re: SPEED ZONE - 8 player split screen battle racing
« on: April 11, 2009, 09:12:53 AM »
The gameplay itself looks good. Visuals look pretty basic but hopefully they will have worked on those since then.

The battle mode particularly reminds me pretty strongly of San Fransico Rush 2049 which I really loved.

If they can sort the visuals out it could be a great little game. As it is it could still quite likely work its way into my games shelf.

This looks like it will be the weirdest craziest racing game I've ever seen!

Can't wait to play it.

I wonder when it's out over here in Euroland.

This reminded me that I still haven't got around to buying the original.

Should I skip the first and just head for the sequel or buy both and play through them in order?

i thought it was rubbish, but the game itself was so good I barely cared and on the rare occasion it did annoy me it was nice to have th option to just play something from an sd card.

Hopefully they retain the feature, but hopefully the music isn't as terrible either! lol

This looks awesome!

They have really turned the wackiness factor up to eleven!! I hope it turns out as well as it looks in the trailer!

I got the original Excitetruck out for a few games. Still a great game.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Do you think a Wii 2 will work?

I think Nintendo needs to offer some reason for their new customers to upgrade. One that isn't simply improved graphics (th`t should happen too though). Head tracking or something like that.
