The Last Story Confirmed for Europe
« on: June 25, 2011, 11:12:47 PM »

Mistwalker RPG will be released in 2012.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/26966

The Last Story will be coming to Europe in 2012, confirms Ludovic Amouroux, product manager of Nintendo France.

The RPG from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi's development studio, Mistwalker, was released in Japan in January. It includes gameplay mechanics similar to third-person shooters, including a cover system, and online multiplayer for up to six players.

The confirmation with Gameblog.fr follows hinting of a European release by Nintendo France's Mathieu Minel at E3. Nintendo of America has not commented on the possibility of a North American release.

This is getting painful. I've never imported a game before but I'm seriously considering it with these titles.

So if Europe is getting these, do you think Australia will as well?

And Nintendo of America fails once again, as usual.  Remind me, again, why we should believe a single word NoA says about "bringing back the core market" with the Wii U?

Nice to see more people have a chance to play the game and understand it easier.

Because "core market" apparently doesn't include neat-and-different-looking games :(

I've never imported a game before, but I will definitely install the homebrew channel and pick up Xenoblade and The Last Story.

May I point out that the news story is 'The Last Story Confirmed for Europe', not 'The Last Story Never Coming to America'. Why is everyone freaking out?

My opinion of Nintendo of Europe has gone up. I thought we were lucky to be getting just one of these RPGs, but now both? That should help breathe some life into the system as it winds down.

Well, we have Nintendo of Europe confirming upcoming game releases while Nintendo of America shrugs and says they're only interested in 3DS and Zelda until the Wii U comes out next YEAR.  That's essentially a Middle Finger to their core fanbase as far as I'm concerned.  It's not exactly a shock that Nintendo of America is incompetent, just that they're being so open about it.

This right here. At the moment I couldn't care less about the Wii U. I certainly don't believe a damn word coming from Nintendo regarding it. Actions speak louder then words and with how Nintendo of America is acting, the main branch I'll have to deal with, I see plenty of reasons not to look forward to the Wii U.

I mean, it's not like the company can't pull a Scrooge McDuck like in the intro to Ducktales and just dive headfirst right into a pit of money. Nintendo is ROLLING in it. It wouldn't hurt them in the slightest bit to release these three games in North America. PLUS, it'd be a great showing of the beginning stages of pulling the core gamer back in to their portfolio of games. Why start with the Wii U? Start NOW.

Count me in; I'm planning to hitch a ride on the Homebrew train.  NOE will be getting a few dollars from me.

There seems to be a lot of dissatisfaction out there over NOA's decisions on these games.   I would think that eventually Nintendo would have to respond to this in some way, but there's nothing in recent history to suggest that they will.  It's frustrating that they ever teased these games at all; I've been looking forward to the possibility of playing them since they were first announced.

Gotta give credit to NoE when they do something right for a change.

For you American importers, I hope you know what you're getting into. Game prices are pretty crazy here (40€ would be a good price, 50€ is likely, 60€ could happen in an extreme case but Nintendo usually charges less). Well, at least it's not for an HD console, games cost 70€ (100 USD!) on those.

If possible, you should try and order a UK copy. Amazon.co.uk generally goes lower than the RRP, so you're probably looking at £30-£35 for a new game, which is, when converted, closer to what you're used to paying for Wii games.

I'd say (hope) yes. But, either way, the UK/ european version will work fine on the Aussie Wii.
