Nintendo Gaming / RE:DvD Playback?
« on: May 11, 2006, 07:41:04 PM »
It doesn't seem to use DD, since Metroid Prime has a Dolby Pro Logic 2 logo on the splash screen.  If DD was supported I'm SURE Retro would have been all over it.

No.

Some games that only detect motion don't use the sensor bar.  If you aren't using the pointer feature you don't need it.

I'll list them in the order they got me.

Red Steel - those scans had me
Legend of Zelda - I've been looking foward to this game since E3 2004, but the "redubbing" as a Wii game was good
Mario Galaxy - Mario, need I say more?
Super Smash Bros. Brawl - I think I crapped my pants when this annoucnement was made.

I don't recall if Ogre Battle 64 was $70, but I do know it cost more then I had ever (or have ever again) paid for a video game.

That said, it is a fantastic (and LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG) game.

Where did that quote come from, most sites still say it is GC controller only.

While it doesn't mean much in Japan: if they do launch with Mario they will be launching with Mario Zelda AND Metroid Prime.

That's huge.  3 top of the line games in one day.

Here's something interesting.

Nintendo has 4 major Wii projects in the works that we know about.
One thing that should be noted, after restructuring the internal groups it seems Nintendo has spread the work out better.  This means better chance of good flow of internally published games.

Zelda TP - EAD (Group #3 headed by Eiji Aonuma)
Metroid - Retro
Mario - EAD (probably)
Smash Bros - Sora

What HAL working on?  Are they on Smash Bros?  It's probable they are in a support role to Sora.  Masahiro Sakurai said he wants them to keep working on Kirby.  I think we can say that is likely too.

EAD Group headed by Katsuya Eguchi has stated they've started work on a Wii Animal Crossing title.

EAD Group headed by Takao Shimizu is working on the Donkey Konga games, but what after that?

Intelligent Systems is working on Fire Emblem 10.

Camelot is working on an RPG.  Nintendo needs to let someone else handle sports and have them concentrate on a system seller.

Game Freak is surely working on DS PokeMon titles, they've passed GCN Nintendo game onto...

Genius Sonority who was founded with Game Freak money.  I would say there is a fair chance if anyone is making a Wii PokeMon RPG it's them.  That said, they're definitely doing SOMETHING for Wii.  Their last project (Pokemon Trozei) launched in Japan 7 months ago and their last GC project (Gale of Darkness) launched before that.

They've got enough assets to keep stuff flowing, and they really need to.  It looks like they've really learned the lesson but can STILL throw potentially three major licenses at once for launch.

You know, I think they would have an easier time getting two players at one site and two at another.  Three at one one at another.
The less sites the less badwidth.

I kind of hope for that.  If I wanted to play with one friend online and the 2 others that live in town at once, I wouldn't want to have to have 4 Wiis.

Would those be part of the "touch generation" of games I can play on my Wii?

I mean, Solid Snake is HUEG.  If they really wanted to spit in Sony's eye they would have gone after Crash Bandicoot.

It's not like Vivendi is doing anything good with him.

Cheesy dialog about Peach's butt.  He could be a lot like Star Fox, gun toting.
Now we need Sonic and MegaMan.  That would make this game ultimate ruleage.

Well in some of the footage of the game (from e3 last year) they had Link riding and shooting at the same time.  Given how much hype horseback combat got I can't fathom them removing it.

Now as for on food combat, I have no clue.

I am so glad to hear it's coming along well.
Hopefully somebody will con Nintendo into letting them rip video from gameplay (or at least shoot video).

They said "Mario looks great" so the concerns over his character model should be decreased a bit.

Did they have clear line of sight during the Red Steel segment today?  I don't even know where the Wii unit was.
