@insanlord- Excellent point you brought up. You said that you use Gamestop because it's basically more convenient correct? This is probably another huge reason people choose GameStop more often than not. And Goozex? Hmm... never heard of it. I'm gonna look into that site. Thanks.

@broodwars- I see where you are coming from. It is pretty annoying when people complain about something that is their own doing.

@ShyGuy-Hastings? Is that another trading site?

I thought that this was old news? Gamestop gives you squat for your used games, but then marks them up to near new prices to sell them back to others. Nevermind that pretty much all of their games are "used" anyway, since they unbox so damn many of them. The place is a glorified pawn shop.

I drew this up for my friends who still sell there stuff at GameStop. Believe it or not, there are still people who don't understand that there are much better ways to sell their games. Yes it's old news to most of us, but it could be a helpful tip to those curious about how much they can save when they sell the right way.

Also yeh, I know what you mean with GameStop's selling of games... I bought Zelda Phantom Hourglass new from them. And the guy got a display case, took a supposedly "new game" from a folder of sorts, and handed it to me as new. I was to naive then and I didn't really speak up much, but the next time a GameStop employer even thinks of doing that to me, they got another thing coming.

Exactly, people shouldn't complain. (I hope I wasn't mistaken as complaining?) It is YOUR choice on who you do business with. Realistically, you are never going to get top value for your used games. But there are better options out there. Like Amazon.

General Gaming / STOP GIVING GAMESTOP YOUR MONEY! (GameStop Vs Amazon)
« on: March 08, 2011, 08:35:39 PM »
So I had plans on selling some of my games that I didn't want anymore... So I did what other people in my situation do... I went to GameStop! Power to the Players and what have you!  Anyways, I wanted to check how much they would give me for my games, so let's have a look...

GAMESTOP

First off Epic Mickey. It's a fairly recent Wii game. Not new, but not old either, so let's see what GameStop offers me...

GameStop humbly offers me $16.00 for Epic Mickey..... Original Value? $49.99 + $2.50 State Tax= $52.49 (yeah I keep every one of my receipts)
Not that great of a deal... but hopefully we get something better for Kingdom Hearts!

Kingdom hearts Re:coded
.... Much more recent, hasn't really aged much, and including Tax and all that stuff, I originally  payed $36.74

Now what does Lovely GameStop want to give me for this fairly pricey DS game?

12.00.....

-GameStop Total Value= $28.00....

AMAZON

OK Now let's see what Amazon.com will give me for this stuff...
(Keep in mind Amazon.com is a site that always has price drops and raises, so selling at a more opportune time can deliver better paydays)

OK Epic Mickey. Again, it's a fairly recent Wii game

Amazon gives me $28.75. Hmm.. Not bad considering that's more than half of it's original value.. good start Amazon..

OK now what about Kingdom Hearts?

Amazon gives me...

$22.00. Again, not bad considering that's more than half of it's original value.
(Also, with trade-ins at Amazon, shipping is paid for. (as long as you use a UPS store.) Just thought I'd mention that.)

-Amazon Total Value= $50.75.

FINAL

OK so let's go over all the math here....

GameStop Total Value= $28.00....
Amazon Total Value= $50.75.

Original Total Value=$89.23

Do you see the difference here people? And who knows, if I did this trade-in sooner I would probably get a lot more back.

But long story short.... Trade in your games to Amazon guys... You get store credit for the entire website.. and not just games. Meaning you can spend it anywhere you want, and also any time you want. It's a way better deal than what crappy GameStop is offering.

SUCK IT GAMESTOP! POWER TO THE PLAYERS MY REAR END!

Wow, is this game hard to find in the States? Amazon has it listed for $49.99? Gamestop's website has it listed for $34.99, though. Hmmmm. I'm really thinking about buying this game soon and I want to get it now before it's out of print.

I actually think that you are looking at Atlus's/best_game_deals- price. Look on the side, Amazon is selling it for 34.99 like Gamestop, and so is Fry's I believe. And oh gosh, you are scaring me Dan! lol. I really hope that this doesn't go out of print.... I was planing on getting it later because of the 3DS, but now I might have to hold off on the 3DS so I can get my hands on a copy!

Josh is the only sane one here!! At least he is rational about his picks!

Josh, let's grab lunch.

Hey are these Game Gear titles listed here going to possibly be available at the US launch? It seems like anything announced for Japan should be available for our release date, and I hope that is including Gameboy VC games.

Don't worry everyone, I finally figures out how to download the file lol. It was my own noobness that was causing the problem!

Oh My God! I love your podcasts! The show was hilarious!!!!! I'm a little embarrassed to say this... but I still don't know all of your names... regardless, that bit about one of you sucking at NSMB Wii, and the rest of you taunting him, hilarious! Oh god....

When I first started out, I said that Jonny is the guy with the "regular" voice, Jon has the deeper voice, James has the higher voice, and Greg is the guy with the accent. ;D

Hey I will try to remember that lol. Thank you.

No honestly, the Podcasts are really enjoyable. Much better then another Nintendo website... who shall remain nameless. Anyways, looking forward to actually taking you guys on the go now!

Also, I now want Radiant Historia based on the description given to me on the podcast, it sounds soooo cool!

Edit*

Hey... I don't have an I-pod or I-tunes... So is it possible to download this thing for a standard MP3? It's a creative zen. I went to the mp3 link.. but I don't see a place I can download the actual file.. Just curious, because I would love to take you guys on the go! I hope that doesn't sound like an implied kidnapping... of course you're all grown men! So it wouldn't actually be kidnapping right?.... I'm just gonna shut up now...

I'm of the opposite mind. If the 3DS and its new features inspired/inspires new games, that's great. I'm also glad to see they want to support other featurers, hopefully meaning StreetPass, and AR.

Well of course I am all for people to be inspired by the system, resulting in new ideas. But what I meant was, I don't want gimmicks added to a game that will become outdated when future systems are announced. Because then we are bound to look back and say something like "You know what... the 3D in this game didn't really need to be in this section or in this aspect of the game."

Of course, this systems saving grace is the fact that you can actually cut off the 3D effect all together! But we have seen in recent coverage that this makes the textures a little more rough looking. But yes, I do not disagree with your point at all, I see where you are coming from. StreetPass and AR are ideas I can see expanded upon, and I am definitely looking forward to them.

Good article pap64!

You know what though? I really hope that this game was made for the sake of the series and not just for the sake of the 3DS and the new 3D movement. I hate when marketing and entertainment get morphed into one; I really hope that is not the case with this game.

As far as the actual game description from this preview, I have to say, I am really looking forward to this title, with it's introduction of new worlds and the new game play mechanics promised to us. I'd rather this game be a stand alone title however, not meaning it's not linked to the story, but a title that can be good in it's own right. I am really tired of KH's games made with only the purpose of "hinting", and "teasing" the next game in the franchise. I mean what kind of mentality is that? A game should be made to further develop the series, not to play second fiddle to the rest of the titles. (Ex. ReCoded.)

Anyways, those are my thoughts and views of the game so far.

Oh My God! This is so awesome! Oh wow, I wish I could do this. I love video games but I don't think I am knowledgeable enough to actually be considered an authority in the field. That, and I always have some sort of error in my writing, that I only catch after the fact. But holy crap, do I wish I could be a part of this place... (Also the getting games early and E3 perk is gamer bait.....)

Great list Zach. I'm surprised no one has put any old Pokemon games on here... I definently want both some Kirby and Pokemon action. I could play the originals forever.

What kind of Director talks like that? My God... get someone who is competent at communicating to persuade Big N, not this guy. They obviously don't understand that unlike this Bieber hype, Nintendo is timeless, and they don't want to represent the current teen sensation fad that is Justin Bieber.

So sorry John, but Nintendo....

Hey Neal Is there any word on the price of VC games such as this? Unless it's posted here and I missed it.  Do you imagine it will be sorta like the Wii, where games were either 1000 or 500 points? I imagine this would be one of the more expensive GB games you could purchase. Do you have a guess at what the base price would be for most of the 3DS's VC games though?
