Woohoo, I can finally get all the NES games in Animal Crossing!

« on: April 29, 2004, 11:42:31 AM »
FYI: The Crimson Fire emulator does not yet emulate GBA games. Just GB and GBC. GBA is coming soon.

And on a side note, the Zodiac is pretty nifty if your into PDA's. Its the best of the Game Boy and PDA world put together.

Wait, aren't most of these available in Animal Crossing in some shape or form? Just go spend $30 on that game and $10 for a link cable. And 200 hours of game time to unlock them (or a Game Shark).

What? Another online Gamecube game? This doesn't make sense. It is almost April 1...

Seriously, this is way cool. I'd be tempted to try this out even if I'm not a big RPGamer anymore.

TalkBack / RE: GameCube Grabs European Market Share
« on: November 11, 2003, 11:40:06 AM »
Does anyone else think this is too good to be true? I'm thinking a 25% share in sales since the price went down, and not total market share.  To gain that many points of market share in 3 weeks is mind boggling. They'd pass the PS2 in a few more weeks at that rate (not that I am complaining).

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Might be last chance to get Playcube cables
« on: October 24, 2003, 12:03:19 PM »
I bought two back in the day. They were $10 each and extra GC controllers where $35 at the time. That let me get 4 controllers for the occasional 4 player SSBM. Pretty good deal. I since have gotten a WaveBird (best controller evar!!!!!111) and have an extra PlayCube adapter. Anyone wanna but it? =)

Radio stations seem to keep the "All-New" tag for ages, why not PGC?

"The all new 88.8Q is sponsoring their 8th annual BBQ (88Q) benefit."

Second thought, lose the "all new". Heck, this post will lose the "new" tag the second time you read it.

General Chat / RE:Why you should drop IE
« on: October 16, 2003, 05:46:15 AM »
I'm late to the game, but I'm a Firebird zealot.

As a web developer, I find if I develop to standards, my pages work in IE and Mozilla (and even Opera).
As a web developer, I find if I developer for IE, my pages rarely work correctly in Mozilla (and Opera).

Moral of my story: develop for standards. It's what the future is based on. If you code for IE only, then your page will work for IE only, and you cut out that many people. Same sorta goes for flash-only websites, but that's another thread.

And Grey Ninja forgot the second best feature of Mozilla/Firebird after pop-up blocking: ad blocking. Through the use of image blocking (right click on an ad, and if the server is something like ads.server.com, block it) and this CSS file on FloppyMoose.com, I rarely see an ad.

For the people that complain that Firebird doesn't display a certain page correctly, it's likely the fault of the developer who didn't spend the time to test it on other browsers.

Go ahead and stay with IE folks. When MS doesn't deliver an update and your browser is as functional as Netscape 4 is today, ha. I laugh at you. =)

If Firebird isn't your thing, check out Opera.

I have Firebird 6.1+ (some nightly build for a while back). I wasn't referring to blocking JS popups, just popups/images in general. Sorry to get slightly off topic. =)

I think he means the receiver you plug into the controller port.

I've noticed more and more websites are getting around Mozilla's ability to block popups and selectively block images. This appears to be an annoying version of that. Or it could be bad programming.

Pressing stop seems to work for me. I'll have to cut down on my PGC visitation today. =(

I think it may be one of the ad servers. Look at the status bar and notice what resource continually tries to load...

Long live Mozilla!

TalkBack / RE: Zelda Bonus Disc ver. 2.0
« on: September 10, 2003, 08:56:50 AM »
This is too good to be true. Where will I find time to play all the games? =)

If I have to, I will but a GC and give it to my younger brothers for Christmas.

I never finished Majora's Mask and now is a good time to go back. And you can never get too much of the original Zelda.

Maybe the Four Swords game will be part of at version sold a retail, and this version will be a pack in.

TalkBack / RE: Mario Kart Preview Disc Available Immediately
« on: September 09, 2003, 08:50:00 AM »
"Nintendo announced that effective immediately"

By immediately, they mean AFTER I call my favorite gaming store and am told there are no bonuses for pre-ordering. Maybe I should be patient and wait a day or two.

I guess the rumor about Mario Kart 64 being includes is likely false. (Please be true, please be true).

In unrelated news, a woman in Seattle names her child "Cranky".

Sounds like a publicity stunt. Wait, she's a VP of marketing.

It might be better for you to wait and buy the bonus disc on eBay. It'll go for less than $50 when it is finally out.

Don't look at 3:30 AM, no one buys video games at that time. As of this writing, the GC version has bumped to #1!

I saw the commercial this weekend. Wow. I need Link.

On Amazon, as of 3:25 PM EST, sales rank for the various SC2 games (this includes ALL products on Amazon):

5th: GCN
20th: XBox
23rd: PS2

Right now, it looks like the GameCube is the best seller. Go Link. These numbers change hourly I think, but things tend to hold pretty steady of a day period or so.

EDIT: Here is a link for the lazy.

The Dreamcast as a Linux distro.

http://www.m17n.org/linux-sh/dreamcast/distribution

Why? I don't know. Because you can. That's what makes most nerds tick.

Think of the sheer nerd factor of running a webserver off a Gamecube.

General Gaming / RE: Game Adapter = Bridge?
« on: August 15, 2003, 09:33:49 AM »
I just talked to Linksys support and they said that the Game Adapter would only be used with one device, and not a hub (or switch). I'm not convinced of that answer. Technically, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Does anyone own this thing yet? I want to know if I should get this or the Ethernet Bridge (which costs $50 more).

This is almost as funny as the EGG people that sent out a few press releases about the unethical treatment of Eggs in Billy Hatcher.
