Nintendo Gaming / State of 3rd Party Address
« on: July 02, 2004, 06:32:35 PM »
Will lets rant. I have been a fan of most 3rd party's like Konami and Capcom. This my be heresy but i wanted to disscuse the 3rd parties.

Konami had made some nice series including TMNT, Metal Gear, and Castlevania. They have been around since 1986 making Haunted Mansion with the granddaddy of Castlevania. Metal Gear has also been around since the MSX 1 and 2 and the NES. TMNT ever since the Comic Book and Movies were popular. Sure they have had there ups and downs like Castlevania 2 and most recently Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Okay, great game with great options but wouldnt ya know that Konami threw out a lot of options that Silicon Knights' Dennis Dyack offered. Mostly time wouldnt allow it because the Release Date was set, I forgave them. But the options he wanted were special camera angles and radar functions for a Co-Op mode! Its all good until there were no ads or commercial for the game. Low sales didnt make Dyack too happy and the fact no ads didnt help the game either. Why was this? Well according to Komani ",They didn't wanta draw attention away from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater." WTF? Well, When approached by EGM #127, Dyrak said this ",If someone ports Metal Gear Solid 2 to the Cube, it won't be us." Well soon after this Silicon Knights become a 3rd party developer instead of 2nd Party. XBOX's version of MSG2: Sons of Liberty (MSG2: Substance) got much attention and say "Wasnt this also made at the sametime MGS3 was beening Developed?"

Next up Capcom....
and then i dont know maybe Sqare Enix, KOEI (after all, after 25 years were is the Nintendo support since the SNES), Atlus (just making less prints to make games RARE, even tho great games since the SNES),  SNK (hmm. hard to say anything about this one, what about them? for GC?), Tecmo, Technos (are the even around anymore, games like RiverCity Ransom, Techno Samurai, all thats Kiki Runo).

Nintendo Gaming / Rare Gamecube games?!
« on: July 01, 2004, 06:57:01 AM »
How can retailers justify RARE GameCube title and even eBaY does this! I went everywhere to find Ikaruga, Bust Buy, Circuit City, GameStop, and other electronic stores in my area. I can surmise and to my surprise it is a hard game to track down. Why do game companies do this? what makes a GC game rare, after all its been out for less than 3 years???

From Gamewinner's News on Friday, June 11, 2004.
             IGN's News on Friday, June 11, 2004.

Saved from 3DO's ashes, one of their final projects is still being developed by a group that includes some of the original team.

From IGN, "After 3DO shut down, a number of investors founded a company called Four Horsemen Entertainment L.L.C. in order to purchase the property. The company officially obtained it on May 12, and development has resumed."

"Now that Four Horsemen is officially in new hands, what was initially intended as a title for current generation consoles has become an entire entertainment franchise. The new company will begin by releasing comic books and a graphic novel based on the property, and eventually release a completely revamped version of the video game for next-generation systems."

"Mendheim has confirmed that the key players are back on board: Simon Bisley is creating the artwork, and Hollywood effects legend Stan Winston is handling toy and movie rights. The star voice talent slated for the first iteration of the game, including Tim Curry and Traci Lords, are also apparently still committed to the project."

There may still be hope for this games after all.

Nintendo Gaming / Great Series that need to be re-made or ported
« on: June 10, 2004, 05:24:31 PM »
I think off all the great SNES games that companies have made, mostly  RPGs. Their are lots of series that need to be revisted, ported, or need to be in a collection.

I. What ever happen to the Actraiser Series? I loved the first one, a mix of Sim City and fighting. But the second was just based on Fighting.
II. Tales of Phantasia, great game, could it be ported to the GC and left untouch, just like on the SNES?
III. We all know that Nintendo's Puzzle Collection is coming to the States. What about a re-make of Tetris Sphere? Great Game, could it be made greater on the GC?
IV. Mega Man collection! What about a Castlevania Collection for the GC? And which ones?
V. How about a Technos Collection? Super Dodge Ball was the tone setter for the company. RiverCity Ransom, Riki Kuno, and Technos Samurai, both Riki Kuno and Samurai is little know in the states but a great game.
VI. Working Designs had made some great games that saw the light of the Saturn and the Super Famicon. Like Albert Odyssey, Would it be nice to see some of there games either ported or remade for the GC?

Any others suggestions/comments?
