Finished. I really should have done it sooner since I played pretty good that game. For it being such a different angle of a mafia game, I performed pretty well that game yet I still kick myself over certain things. I should have clued onto Vudu way, way, sooner, that lead to the Dasmos error and despite working hard to get the blue team the win, stevey would not budge on voting against me and almost sabotaged the chances of victory including his own. That's why I never kill stevey when I'm mafia. He always says I'm trying to kill him but if you look at games where I am mafia, I leave him alive. As someone said last game, stevey often hurts the townies more so why would any mafia want to remove such a loose cannon. In fact, it is usually when I am a townie that I try to kill stevey. Ah, the games we play.

In time, like when I have an actual computer instead of just surfing the Internet with my phone or work computer.

Actually, one of the main reasons this thread was created was created was because it was getting to be a real nuisance to find or follow the old games in the funhouse and so this helped collect those threads together. Now that the we have this seperate forum for just mafia games, it isn't that necessary to collect them so soon. You can find them all bunched in order, game after game.

That said, I should still update this since I'm sure some people would like to have their winner status acknowledged. Like Vudu and his grand AC Redux mafia win. Second time's the charm.

As you may have noticed before, there are some blank spots after the mafia game listings. One in particular is the Special Achievement Vault. The purpose of that is something I've been meaning to start for awhile but never did since I was focused on other things. But I'd like to get it going now. Basically, it is just another little perk for anyone who hosts a mafia game from now on.

What the Special Achievement Vault does is allow the host to comment on any past mafia event and make a special mention of it. So, you could comment on anything from honoring a player past or present, a classic game, or a hilarious moment in a game. You could even honor stevey and his vedatta contribution to the game, 18 Days/RABicle's awesome luck in Mafia 7 or his role as the bomber in Mafia 8 which, I believe, is the highest death total caused by a bomber. You could highlight a role that you thought was really neat. You could even celebrate the epic fail of a player. Finally, there is no limit to how many times a person can be used in the special achievement vault. Just as long as it isn't for the same thing over and over again. It could be for the way a person played a game, for a game they hosted, a role they created, an idea they made. Really, the choice is up to the host. Any achievement by any player whether good or bad is up for grabs.

My only suggestion would be not to leave things too broad but try to comment on a specific thing. With that, allow me to get things rolling with the first achievement award. It goes to:

Pyropizm! for starting the game of mafia.

Alright. Maybe not the best way to show people how this special achievement thing works since I'm cheating a bit by honoring Pyropizm for two things. But they kind of go hand in hand.

Let's face it. The reason we have this board and have this neat little subculture on the forums is because of Pyropizm. If you look at the interest thread, S-U-P-E-R started the thread but he did so after talking to Pyro who had played the game before. Then Pyro came and explained it further and got support for it going. He then created not just the first game but the first three games which still is the longest consecutive hosting record for our mafia games. On that point, he could probably get a special achievement for hosting but I'm sticking to this one point for now.

Another thing Pyro did by starting mafia up was show that it could be different each time. All his games had different roles and each game was seperate from the last. He didn't keep the same template for all the games. I think that has helped lead to the freedom which causes all new hosts to feel free to experiment and try new roles for their games keeping the game fresh each time and not becoming stale.

Right now, this forum has more posts than almost half the other boards on this forum. We just need to pass the staff blog and then we are in the top 50 percent of boards. Of course, if Pale had ever actually followed through on the idea of moving all the mafia topics from the funhouse to this board, we would probably be way ahead.

It is by Pyropizm that many of the players still playing learnt this game. Look at the players still around. Vudu, Nickmitch, Pale, Stevey, Dasmos, RABicle and Shyguy. Even if this was the last game of mafia played, it is still quite an amazing feat for Pyropizm and one of two things he helped usher on these boards. The other would be helping to get the podcast going if my memory serves me correctly. Even if Pyro shows up rather infrequently now, he has helped give NWR two defining staples. And, personally, I prefer this one a whole lot more.

So here's to you Pyropizm. Your legacy should not be the Pangya review (although it probably won't be forgotten either.) You helped start other things that have lasted long after your sad departure. Most notably to me, Mafia. Everyone, raise a beer.

At this point, the honoree may wish to say a few words. Since that may take awhile, maybe some people would just prefer to say something for him.

My first game... Was screwed up.  Khush broke the game by not revealing who was who whenever they died, only when a certain ability was used... Then the mafia took control of the ability and kept it from being used.  Very funny, but unfair game, towards the mafia.  I still won, though.

That doesn't sound too different than my first game which I had no chance of winning for several reasons. I was Mafia. To start with, the investigator found two Mafia members on the first two days, but there was also a mole role who ended up revealing all of the Mafia members. And I believe that was... MAXI!

The game ended with Stratos, who was the Bomber, using his action to blow me up. And now you know why I don't like him.

Eh, I read some of that game, but still, you could have just killed the investigator on the first day, and all your problems would have been solved, you know. That's the best way to go.

The mole issue wouldn't have come up, since Maxi wouldn't have been so scared.  Of course, Stratos did play the role wrong, I'll grant you that, and that's always a bummer... Unless you do it in a totally confusing and awesome way.  Still, you probably could have manipulated Stratos to somehow kill a bunch of townies instead of you, anyways :p

Nobody knew Stratos was the Bomber so I couldn't have gotten him to do anything.
What I didn't realize was all of the PMing which was happening so I had no idea there was so much going on. I was clueless, and it showed.
I still am clueless.

That was one of my favorite games.
Why is that? You lost on the second day.

It was one of my favorites because of some of the things I did in the game.
I think I grew as a player after the game was over.

Punch Out Mafia was the next game and I believe I grown because of Super Mario Mafia.

No siree. I was only able to read about those games after the fact. Mafia 6 is when I gained my stripes. Pyropizm was still around at that time and he would be a player from then on and no longer a host. And it was Pyropizm that gave me my favorite quote from that game.

Quote
Khush is either the most brilliant con in the world, or he's making a strong point.

That was my favorite thing that somebody said about me that game. And I've always liked Pyropizm because of that. I was unsure how I would be received by the other members who had known each other much longer. But when Pyropizm said that, I knew I was doing something right. Then I got cocky and I haven't stopped since.
