anyone notice Nintendo releases on GC vrs N64?
« on: April 24, 2003, 03:57:51 PM »
has anyone else noticed that Nintendo has released:

Super Mario Sunshine
Star Fox Adventures
Zelda the Windwaker
Metroid Prime
Animal Crossing
Wave Race BS
SSBM
Pikmin
Star Wars RS2
and many others in a time frame of one year and 3 months!!?
with mario kart, mario tennis, mario golf, f zero, and tons more in less than 2 years into the consoles life!

while we had to wait roughly 3-4 years for the same amount of quality titles on the N64

nintendo has outdone themselves, especially in working titles made with 2nd parties, like
Hal, Retro Studios, Factor 5, Sega, Namco, etc...

Nintendo deserves are utmost respect and we can only do so by purchasing these amazing titles
i hate to sound like an employee of the company lol but i just had to give them my thanks...

Yeah, I've noticed that too.  The main reason behind it was because programming carts was expensive(remember the $59.99 Nintendo days) and harder to use then cds.  Now with the Gamecubes technology programmers and teams can create great games in half the amount of time.  Wonderful for us Nintendo fans, aint it.

The switch from carts to cds didn't make games easier to program. The architect of the GameCube made it easier. Actually Nintendo is slacking.

as Jan 2003 there were 12 GameCube games published by Nintendo.
in the same amount of time, Nintendo published 14 games for the n64.

You just don't notice the gaps because it is filled with 3rd party software.

How can you say such a thing?  If a well-done sequel is made, it should be plenty enough to make me buy an Xbox!  Those last missions were hardcore and demanded the utmost precision; nearly impossible, but gave just enough glimpse of possible improvement that you'd keep trying.  Hah, well anyway, that's just my taste, so I hope you don't take it personally.  I respect everyone's right to have their own opinion.

Yeah, I felt the same way, except for the Starfox Adventures part.  I felt that the N64 was just something to tide us over for something bigger coming.  I mean there were great games for the N64 that we all know and love, I mean I played the heck outta that thing.  Well anyways some of the Gamecube games were okay, but just not well done, Mario and Starfox for example.  Hopefully at E3 they'll show a new Mario game that we'll all love better then Sunshine....

Accually Blast Corps is a very good game.
But we should see more games made by Nintendo and its closer related 2nds (NST, HAL, Retro, Pokemon Company) because of the new engine setup they came up with, and not to mention they have increased their size.
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

One of Nintendo's dev team developed Cubivore, but Atlus published it in the States.

I also must stand up for the very underrated Blast Corps. Maybe not as 'great' as Metroid Prime, but WORLDS better then the so-so SFA.

I had a similar disccusion with someone recently. And while GC has had many more games overall (thanks to improved 3rd party support), the big blockbusters, especially those published by Nintendo, just arn't quite the same. Besides Prime and Wind Waker, N64's lineup in the first year and a half was much better IMO. Star Fox 64 MUCH better then SFA. Mario 64 MUCH better then Sunshine. GE has no equal.

That said I'm sure the coming months and years of GC will be much better then the 1.5-5 years of N64's existence.
