... may break down and try to find a way to sneak the game out of its package without looking like the package has been open to get the game out so I can play it. ...
If we're not counting iOS/Android games I got a new mouse and... uh.... I can't remember what the last retail game I got is. I think it was Rage which I got on launch day. Possibly Aliens Infestation, I don't quite remember when I got that. On Steam I got Serious Sam: The Random Encounter. Well, there's also a huge pile of boardgames I got in Essen but I don't think we're talking about that kind of gaming. Why not?
But no worries, Saints Row 3 is on preorder.
I finally picked up a copy of Settlers of Catan and Pandemic the other day. Two widely favored titles that have somehow been missing from my already crowded shelf.
...oh, you meant video games? One word. Skyrim.
DNF is well worth playing. Don't believe the bad press reviews. It was a fine follow-up to DN3D.Its more finding the will to find the time to play this game. AKA When can I get the TV without my son around. Why I never got Killer 7 started for the Retroactive.
You should really just send your son to his room. Surely he's done something to warrant grounding?I can't get him to get to sleep at 8. He's 3 and he'll just stay up there and play till 11 and sneak down occassionally.
I also got Duke Nukem Forever Balls of Steel Edition for $18.
I recently picked up BEAT HAZARD on PSN.
I just bought Super Mario 3D Land & SSFIV3D
B1G1 50% @ Kmart (= $60 after tax)
i only paid $15 for it.
Do the math
SM3DL - $39.99
SSFIV3D -$29.99(50% off) $15.00
+ tax ~$4.80
=============
$59.something
I've thought about picking up Beat Hazard before, but it's such a pain to transfer songs to my PS3 from my computer because of how our network is set up, so I never bothered.

SM3DL at K-Mart - $40.
Other 3DS title at K-Mart for 50% off - $10-$20.
SSFIV at Amazon - $18.
Savings $22-$32.
Of course, that assumes you want SSFIV and some other random 3DS game.

Then buy it for your PC instead? It comes up for sale on Steam all of the time. I think I only paid a couple of bucks for it way back when.

I try to avoid PC gaming if I can help it. Besides, I don't want to pick up anything for my computer at the moment when I'm about to get a brand new one for Christmas. I'll probably finally get around to picking up StarCraft 2 then, as I'll finally have a computer that can run it.

Did you see that Blizzard is doing a 50% off StarCraft 2 sale right now? I don't know when it ends. I presonally bought the collector edition because I wanted Raynor's dog tags with SC on it. Great game even without the multiplayer.

:P: :
Ikaruga baby! Good mint copy also. Totally lucked out on this one.
Meanwhile, HMV has Samba de Amigo at 9.99 and Sid Meier's Pirates at 16.00. Are these worth getting?
Besides, people like Morari (elitist snobs) make me not want to associate with PC gamers.

...James (Crimm) has. It is in one of his sick episodes on RFN I think last year. He really likes the original game if memory serves. I have to see if I can dig up the Episode.
Can't comment on Sid Meier's Pirates, but curious to hear if anyone else has played the game.

Will they allow that? From what is said nintendo's pretty tight about transfering data on the WII, unless your old one died.

Now, my next step is to start tracking down some GameBoy Advances and Gamecube/Gameboy link cables. This step might be the most tricky.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates (DS)I don't have this one but I have its sequel, Echoes of Time which seems to be pretty similar. It got mediocre reviews too, but despite that I enjoyed it. It's a good old fashioned hack 'n slash, though it's best played in multiplayer since the AI doesn't do much and you can't control their characters. It also has online play, so if you're still considering returning it I'd say do so and grab the sequel instead.
Trolling EB Games looking for something cheap while my wife was shopping. This caught my eye at $5 and fit nicely into my "pocket change" budget. Is it a good find worth playing, or should I have settled for some fast food instead?

New game add for the week:
Hotel Dusk: Room 215
I tried playing this game once before and thought it was interesting. The focus on being an interactive novel instead of a "game" really drew me in, and the unique style seemed to be well implemented. Saw a brand new copy for just $3.50 and couldn't turn it down.
EB Games suckered me in with some price drops. Broken Sword Director's Cut (Wii) for $3Was this a limited time sale? The game is listed at $10 on their website, has it just not been updated yet?

I went out today and traded some games in (Skyrim PS3
Skyward Sword)
Looks like you gave up on it. From the sound of it, I can't say as I blame you. Since you're getting a gaming laptop tomorrow maybe try giving it a shot with the PC version which shouldn't have all the bugs?
QuoteSkyward Sword)
Was this one really that bad?
Is $12 worth Oblivion: GOTY edition? I would like to give it a try as well to see if that kind of gameplay will be something I deem worthy of spending for Skyrim.

I'm not sure which system you would get this game for, but I would like to point out to you that the PS3 version of Oblivion does not have trophies at all. So if that sort of thing is important to you, get the 360 version. Otherwise, if you only care about Gameplay and love RPGs then its a good choice regardless. The engine is old and lacks features you would find in Skyrim and there are a lot of bugs, but there is good gameplay there and a slider to adjust the difficulty level to your liking.
I have Frozen Synapse, a 25% valve, 10% Atari, 50% Maxpayne 2, 50% ARES extinction Agenda.
I would be happy to trade you any of them for your copy of Half Life 2 and 2 coal.
Finally completed my Metroid setTechnically, it is missing the original NES release and the Metroid Prime Player's Choice edition. Still, it's a nice set. I had no idea that Samus had a cameo in a Virtual Boy game, I had to look up why Galactic Pinball was in there.
Recently i have purchased
MW 3
Rage
Asphalt 6
League of Legends
The first two Layton games, $20. Did I overpay?

$20 for both? You wildly underpaid. If not, just underpaid.
DS games are so outrageously cheap now that I wasn't sure who was getting the better deal.Where can I find outrageously cheap DS games? I haven't had much luck finding good games for $10 or less.

and Sanitarium.
I know I probably overpaid for this lot, but screw it. I don't own a Wii, so VC purchases are out of the question, and now I have another eleven games and one system crossed off my list.
Working Super Nintendo, looks like it's in great condition.
Games:
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy III/VI
Drakkhen
Super Mario World
World Heroes
Super R Type
Populous
Super Ghouls N Ghosts
Street Fighter II TURBO
Killer Instinct
Ms Pac-man
Pac-man 2 The New Adventures
Game Genie
I paid about $150 for everything. I got into a bidding war with one other guy, plus I had just started a new job with no wifi access, so I had to run eBay off my crappy phone browser.
I might get Odin Sphere off the PSN. Only question is whether it still chugs, in which case I'll just replay my PS2 copy. The only reason I feel like it might play better is that the slowdown in the original game wasn't the GAME'S fault, but the PS2's processor. The PS3 can probably handle it much better. Anyone have any idea about this?
Finally picked up Yoshi's Island DS... apparently, this game has become somewhat-rare now... GameStop is selling it for $39.99 used.
If you haven't picked it up yet and want it, you might check your local Toys R Us.

I live in Illinois, I'm required to pay tax on internet purchases anyway.
In fact, most states that have a sales tax require it.
AFAIK every state has a sales tax, but here in Michigan I've never had to pay online taxes for anything.

But they can't impose a tax if the website is physically located outside of the state. If I drove over to your state of Illinois and purchased something I would have to pay the Illinois state tax. I wouldn't owe anything to Michigan unless I bought it in Michigan.

I don't think you got hosed. The few times I've found copies of Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy III/IV, they've usually ran $40-60 in stores.
A good find, I think.
Picked up Twilight Princess used for $10 in one of those snazzy Nintendo Selects box. Also found an unused Club Nintendo code I promptly applied to my account. Hopefully I'll find the motivation to beat it now that I own it. Last time I got lost and quit during one of the wolf sections.

There's also the ominous warning in fine print on the Em@il Games boxes: "Hasbro is committed to maintaining servers for this product until October 1, 2000." But Hasbro's Megill says gamers shouldn't be put off by the legalese: "If anything, were going to expand our support [for Em@il games] rather than getting rid of it."
And, last, but not least, I got my wife's Valentine's Day present - $4.
Also - Mario Teaches Typing 2 has some pretty awful animation on it... It's no wonder Nintendo doesn't like to license their characters out anymore...
Mario Teaches Typing 2 is a computer game developed by Brainstorm and published by Interplay Entertainment.
Looks like a $4 footrest to me.
Yeah, it's a foot stool.
you might want to look for another present. I have a feeling that wont go down well.My Wife's getting the $140 ticket she got by lieing to me.

... and two tickets to Episode 1 for tonight. Yeah, I like torture.
I bought Resident Evil Jill: Jill's Revelaitons (Jill) on 3DS on Tuesday. I finally played it last night. Semi-related: my iPhone didn't even try to auto-correct "Revelaitons."
Jill Valentine + catsuit = fapping

Picked up Resident Evil DS, the new Star Trek: Next Gen blu-ray and two tickets to Episode 1 for tonight. Yeah, I like torture.
Note: This was after a body fell out of the air ducts, not talking about Jill.Of course, she wasn't talking about Jill. That would silliness. Your wife has excellent taste in video game boobs and ass.
... and two tickets to Episode 1 for tonight. Yeah, I like torture. It's not a great movie, but I bet it will still be fun to watch. Just seeing the pod racing scenes in 3D should be worth the price of admission.

I didn't think that Episode One could get much worse... then I heard it would be in 3D. Because... y'know... that always makes movies better. LOL.
I thought you were only missing 1.Missing Cynder. :(
Ironically the Big Man got Cynder today just walking into a TRU.I thought you were only missing 1.Missing Cynder. :(
Paper Mario is worth playing some. I like the jokes.
This is probably a long shot, but is there anyone here who played the Baten Kaitos games? I just found Baten Kaitos Origins at a GameStop, which I believe is actually the second game they made but it is a prequil, if I recall correctly. So my question is, would I be missing anything if I played this game first, or would I be better off waiting to find a copy of the first Baten Kaitos game released?
I'm kind of surprised Walmart doesn't break street dates more often. They could get extra sales that way, and it's not like Nintendo really has any leverage over them; you can't cut off somebody as big as Walmart.
Not really a gaming purchase, but a friend of mine has one of these coming my way...
...
Whoo-hoo!

I'm in the home stretch of my backlog, after this game there will only be 5 games left.

Unsure if I'm jealous or not. I've got a notable backlog, but am not really expecting to buy in for the next round of consoles. Every time I look at my shelf of unfinished games, it's insurance that I'll be able to enjoy gaming for a long time to come.

You Cynder looks different then mine. Its glittery. With no eyes. Its missing the detail and color. I really like the Cynder all painted up so it be weird not having it.

I just replaced the 72-Pin Connector on both of my old NES systems. Bleached the crap out of the case on the one while it was apart to get that weird yellowed color out of the plastic. Worked out pretty well. I need to go through and clean all of the game cartridges sometime, then it's off to eBay with it all.
I need to find a broken-beyond-hope NES to gut. I want the case for a HTPC/emulator that I've been looking to build. :)
Got Skylanders PS3 for $14, and another 4 figurines for $4/character (A rock guy, a guy with a sword & shield, and two guys with wings).
My wife seems to like it a lot. I haven't played it yet, but it looks like it might be entertaining for the sake of trying to collect all the items in a given level, and i'm sure my wife will now obsessively look for new figurines to buy.
...You can. Only certain areas and I'm fairly sure your really not suppose to be able to. It comes with the whole no jumping thing.
I've noticed you cant fall off an island in the PS3 version.
...What is that sandwiched on the far right side surrounded by Call of Duty?

I had to cheat a little. That's my DSiXL.
I took a picture with it.
The picture is of my TV.
On my TV are three Wii channels of WiiWare - Carnival King (which EVERYONE should have) and the two Target Toss Pro games. Didn't have any other idea how to "represent" them in the photo. ;)
WiiWare - Carnival King (which EVERYONE should have)
Not very exciting, but I stopped by a GameStop to pick up the latest Game Informer so I could get the exclusive KI AR Card. They didn't have the new issue yet. Poop.Just saw this and searched KI AR card...disappointed to see it was Kid Icarus, I momentarily forgot about Microsoft buying RARE and thought maybe there was a Killer Instinct AR card.
I browsed their meager GameCube collection... they had a minty-minty copy of Midway Arcade Treasures 1. I wasn't aware, but, apparently, this game had a reprint in a different packaging (that's more in line with 2 & 3). I already had the first, but I grabbed this, since it was a whopping $5.
just curious if you've tried the new xbox controller with the d-pad that's supposed to be upgraded (http://www.pcworld.com/article/204614/microsofts_xbox_360_dpad_update_something_old_something_new.html). I'm wondering if i should buy that one when i eventually get a 360 in the coming months.I dunno, do the upgraded ones come with new systems these days?
Bought a Wi-Fi Vita.Couldn't you use it for Twitter?
Now I need a memory card and a game, 'cause right now it's a fancy-looking paperweight.
^^^ Yes. Don't do it, you have so much more to live for.
Picked up a Lightning Rod and Zook for Skylanders and found a used Game Boy Color in great shape with a copy of Yoshi and a neat carrying case for $12.You sending those to me right :P:
You in need of a Game Boy Color, Yoshi and Carrying Case?Actually, Yoshi and the Carry case might not be bad. I still have my GBC somewhere.
You forgot to take them out of the plastic...
- Tetris Party Live (DSiWare) - For me, this is perfect. Quick, configurable, and always on the system without needing to carry a cart around. Online versus is icing on the cake... at least until players disappear and servers get shut down.
I was considering it but, I guess I'll just get none of them now.

And it's gone! Looks like they realized that sales for Tetris Axis (and the virtual console Tetris, and any other versions) were going to suffer as long as this cheap and convenient version was easily available. Hope anyone else interested in getting the best portable Tetris experience grabbed this game before it was removed from the eShop.
$1. Goodwill. Suck it, bitches. :DYou paid $0.84 too much
...Kid Icarus: Uprising for $25, ...
Personal Trainer Cooking (DS) - Always wanted to try one of these "games". Found a used copy in great condition for $0.99 and figured that the case alone was worth that price since I've got a couple of DS games missing cases. Also, Club Nintendo coins. :D
Kirby Super Star Ultra (DS) - Found a used copy on Kijiji for $5. Not a huge Kirby fan, but have heard good things about this game and can always trade it at GameStop for more than I paid.
If they still have their Skylanders display (with the characters inside and such) see if you can talk them into selling it. I'll give you $50+some shipping for it. :D

Watching AVENGERS reminded me that once upon a time I looooved Hulk Ultimate Destruction. So I bought a used GameCube copy for $8. Hopefully it's aged as well as my memory has.
YupWatching AVENGERS reminded me that once upon a time I looooved Hulk Ultimate Destruction. So I bought a used GameCube copy for $8. Hopefully it's aged as well as my memory has.
It has aged well. Still one of the best superhero games of the past 10 years in my opinion.
Nice grab!
Tetris Axis ($15) and DQM:Joker 2 ($20) as I continue my quest to get a day 1 CN Platinum next year. Thank you, Mart of the Wal.
As a side-note, had ordered an import copy of Another Code R (Wii) a while back but the order kept getting delayed. That's not such a bad thing though: found a different place where I could get Another Code R and Trace Memory (DS) for less than the original price - so one order was cancelled and instead I'm getting two games in it's place.
Trace Memory was a great game - right behind Last Window and Hotel Dusk. Another Code: R was... a bit of a disappointment. Although, not as much as Again was. Don't get Again. :(
I have been obsessively playing Pinball Arcade on my iPad. Its a great game...and I really like that the tables are real authentic tables. One of them I played often in my local arcade.
So not really a new game... but my Nintendo 3DS Card Case 18 reward arrived in the mail today.

Tribes: Ascend
Tribes Ascend is a free-to-play game. Anything you bought could have been acquired through actual gameplay. It's not a chore to play either, as the Tribes series has always been one of the best team-based shooters.
Otherwise, it looks like you got a pretty good bounty. ;)
Just Cause 2 and Rayman Origins. An unlikely combination…Just Cause 2 is such a blast. its fun just messing around destroying stuff, stealing cool cars, helicopters, planes, etc. And the voice acting hilariously atrocious.
Yeah, I've seen Babysitting Mama go for that cheap couple of times... I just can't do it. Although I did get the DJ Hero 1 with two turn tables for $10, which was about as useful of a purchase, I suppose. ;)
Is it $10 online or in the store? Or both?
Left 4 Dead 2 at a Best Buy. More than twenty bucks and it wasn't used or had some other discount, yet the game's been out for quite some time. I rotate it out with the first game and alternate playing them.
I wonder if it counts on... systems. :D
Just got Rayman Origins at Best Buy for $10. I'm moving to a new apartment with 3 other roommates, and this will be a great way to break the ice. Too bad the Best Buy I went to didn't carry Rhythm Heaven Fever anymore (given the current $5), as we're all music students.
Just bought Air Conflicts: Secret Wars for 360, a game so obscure Wikipedia doesn't have an article for it.
I'm holding it until about 11am tomorrow, at which point I'm flipping it at Shop of the Future for the Kirby Collection
That Kirby deal is really excellent. I've been looking around for a good flip, but don't want to trade in any of my games that qualify and haven't see a found a good game to buy for the trade. Was Air Conflicts a good price?
La Mulana. Great title. Hard as f***.
La Mulana. Great title. Hard as f***.
Also grabbed La Mulana over the weekend, but haven't had time to play yet. Rather looking forward to it, but wonder (based on reports about difficulty) how many people bought without realizing how difficult it's going to be and will give up almost immediately.
Hmm... Louieturkey, have you played Theatrhythm on the 3DS? Just curious, given it's another rhythm game and especially has some very EBA-esque gameplay sequences.Don't have a 3DS and have no plans to get one anytime soon. It is one game I want to play though.
Dead or Alive 5 Collector's Edition. Totally worth it.

I guess SEGA is ok with letting other 3D fighters take the spotlight. They've given Virtua Fighter a break for too long, it seems. They need to pump out more VF games so they can better compete with Tekken, DOA, and Soul Calibur. I was going to add Street Fighter to that list, but it's not a 3D fighter.I'm sure SEGA would love to have their game be hugely successful. They did promote the game at Evo with a tournament with a huge ass pot bonus ($15k). Despite that, though, I think Sega is just plain bad at promoting and marketing games, especially one as un-flashy as Virtua Fighter. I think a good step to take would be to redesign the **** out of their boring characters. I mean, how many VF characters can you name off the top of your head compared to SF, Tekken, SC, MK, whatever?

Don't forget there strong presence in Japanese Standalone games.Despite that, though, I think Sega is just plain bad at promoting and marketing games
Sega's bad at a lot of things. Basically the only reason they still exist and haven't gone bankrupt is nostalgia.
Nintendo is also helped by nostalgia, but they're run a whole lot better than Sega and their game quality is much more consistent.

I like to throw insults at Sega as much as anyone, but at least Sega still tries new ideas and franchises, something I wish Nintendo would do. So despite their massive incompetence and my total lack of Sega nostalgia, I still appreciate that they're still putting out games.

I'd take good games in old franchises over bad ones that are new IPs.
And I've been playing "Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit", a PSN/XBLA game they published which is pretty good so far.

Valkyria Chronicles refutes your claim that Sega makes "bad" new IPs. And I've been playing "Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit", a PSN/XBLA game they published which is pretty good so far.
Mighty Switch Force and Cave Story are fantastic games, though I have the DsiWare version of Cave Story, so I have no reason to purchase the eShop version.
I recently picked up Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands based on Gui's positive impressions on RFN over the last few weeks. I don't know why I had chosen to skip this game when it was first released, because I'm a few hours into the game now and am really digging it. There are some serious, and I mean serious, camera issues, but the climbing, jumping and combat are all pretty satisfying. I was also able to get it for next to nothing, which doesn't hurt.
Mega Man & Bass on GBA is terrible. Because the screen is so zoomed in.
$50 = a brand new PSP Go system. I know there haters, but I like the form factor a lot and find it a great piece of kit despite the limitations. I also think the GBA Micro is the best version of that handheld though... so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
$10 = Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. The recent preorder announcement for MH3U pushed me over the edge. I just couldn't wait for a fix...
Are there any PSP games that I should really check out? The only one on my radar right now is the Final Fantasy Tactics game. PSP Go is limited to downloads, and even though you can install custom firmware I'm really not interested in doing so. Please try to base any suggestions around that caveat.
I bought most of the things released on the 3DS eShop today, but have been spending all my time with the one of them I got for free. The Mutant Mudds levels are phenomenal. Game of the Year confirmed.
I thought Okami HD was download only?
...There's no Dust :P
Vets might bitch about something, but it's a good upgrade if you want more CS.

I really liked the Multiplayer in C&C: Renegades. In fact I enjoyed that came a good amount. It was pulp fun fan service with British Teeth. Played a lot of CS in College even lead a clan.:D...There's no Dust :P:

The reason I quit playing CS years ago was because people would play nothing but DE_Dust and its variants 24/7/365.25. I didn't care if it was the worse map in the world, just no more fucking Dust. It was the same with Warcraft 3 with everybody playing DOTA or Summoner.
But now I just wants something deeper and the new CSGO isn't it. It would be Nuclear Dawn, but that game didn't reach critical mass. Real shame. It is like a really deep TF2 with base building.
Street Fighter X Tekken//Picked this game up for both the Vita and the PS3. Gamestop had a deal and I purchased both for Fifty dollars. Looks and plays wonderful on the Vita. Long live the Vita.. Oh, I hear it may have already passed? It shall live in my heart right next to my Saturn. ;)Your in Luck. As soon as I finish beating and wrestling it into submission we review 3 Vita games on NFR in the next Episode.
4, actually. :)Was it 4? I can't think of the 4th of the top of my head.

My ~$12 copy of Last Story arrived from Amazon today. It was the special edition (didn't *think* a "regular" version of it was released, but for $8 + s/h, I wasn't sure). Yay.If I recall correctly, all of the first-run copies have the art book. If the game sold as poorly as we suspect, then the first run is the only run. The music CD was supposed to be only for pre-orders though, did you get the CD too?
I can't believe this used to cost $25...Actually, it was $20. I think that's a good price for a game and an accessory.

Just basing it off of the sticker on the one I got (of course they could have inflated the retail price on the clearance sticker to make it look like a better deal). I haven't played the game, but by first glance it looks like a fairly simple shooting gallery game.It was probably originally from GameStop, they sometimes charge $5 more for Wii accessories. They also did this for Motion Plus ($25 instead of $20) and the Wii Wheel ($15 instead of $10). The game is a shooting gallery game but it's a darn good one, and has a nice scoring system. The gun is good if you like to play shooting games, it's definitely easier to hold it steady than just the Wiimote (or I felt that way anyhow). That said, I didn't buy it for $20 either, but for someone who's into shooting games it was a good price.
Yup. CD too. :)Nice. Unfortunately, this is probably evidence that the game didn't sell well, which is a shame. :/
Recently bought my first PS3 games: Ico/SoC HD collection, GoW Collection, and Journey. Haven't had time to play them though. :(

Damn, you choose some nice games. Add Uncharted and Okami HD and you'll have justified your PS3 purchase.

Good choices, if I may say so.

Killzone 3 is also a must. The multiplayer is amazing.
I just picked up Far Cry 3 after hearing nothing but good things about it. I never really got hooked by the other games, but I heard that it was "Like Skyrim, but with guns". And it is! Massive world, great graphics, and tons to see and do. This engine is ridiculous. Haven't encountered any hitches or load screens, and the combat is extremely satisfying. Unlike Dishonoured, I enjoy being able to initiate my encounters with stealth, then failing and just plowing my way through enemies. For which system did you get it?
Gears Of War 1 and 2 for $3 and $5 respectively at GameStop. This is the price online so I would assume that you too can jump on this deal. They also had a copy of ExciteBots for $7. I might go back and get that...Dooo Itttt.
That's probably the best value you're ever going to get in a game. I'd argue Excitebots is the best arcade racing game of the generation.I prefer Excitetruck personally because it doesn't of the Arm Circling....
Excitebots is fantastic. So much fun.
Excitebots is fantastic. So much fun.
Why that game wasn't released in Europe I'll never know. I'd still take NPC Pikmin 2 over it, but ideally I'd like to have both.

We eventually got NPC Pikmin 2 in North America, so you'd have to be taking Disaster and Pandora's Tower over it.
Excitebot is not a Racing game really. Its a game all about the Stars. That's why I love the serious you don't have to be the first across the finish line to win.Excitebots is fantastic. So much fun.

Or Fatal Frame 2, or Another Code R.
I'd take any of those four games over Excitebots personally, but have never been a racing fan.

Yes, but most of the time you can't win if you don't come in 1st since coming in 1st gives a huge chunk of stars. It can be done, but it's much more difficult. You clearly never ran into JamesSk.
Went nuts on the eShop. Kirby's Block Ball, Mole Mania, Wario Land 2. Might go back for Bit. Trip. Saga. and maybe Mutant Muds. The demo for MM is super good.
Never played Mole Mania before. It's fucking awesome.
Well, the eShop got me. Downloaded escapeVektor and Crimson Shroud tonight, while saving some credit for Fluidity Spin Cycle... and maybe Mutant Mudds or Crashmo? Not sure about the last ones yet.
I'm in the middle of my fourth play through of Mutant Mudds.
I'm in the middle of my fourth play through of Mutant Mudds.
I love that game, but that's just overkill.
I just never get tired of it. It could be a lot more than four at this point if I didn't have so many other things to play. The only other game like that for me is Mario 3, which I once beat 100% for the third time in less than a week and promptly started up a new file.
Hmmph... What's that in the bargain bin? Shinobi and Nano Assault for $10? Sold.$10 total or $10 each? Either way it's a good deal, though.

From this week:I completely forgot Anarchy Reigns came out in the US last week. It's only $30 too. It should be $20 or less in no time. I want to get a little further (or complete) Lollipop Chainsaw before I pick up another PS3 title.

Just a bunch of iOS games for my iPod Touch:Looking forward to your take on Mutant Mudds IOS.
• Words With Friends
• Trivie - A trivia game
• Mutant Mudds (just to see how the digital controls are in comparison to the 3DS game)
I'm just about finished with Fluidity (getting 5 stars and all the puzzle pieces has been a blast) but I'm probably going to need another 3DS game between now and when FE: Awakening comes out in Europe in April. So I thought I'd hit you all up as to which of the following eShop games I should pick up next. We've covered 2 of those games on NFR recently. If you like table top gaming and fantasy novels then you should enjoy at some level Crimson Shroud. Escape Vektor is a concept that is done before and the writing can be clever but, all the levels are ... good on the edge of great but never make that push so they don't feel really good either because you can easily see the great.
- Sakura Samurai (as a huge fan of Punch Out!! I've been holding off on this one for one reason or another)
- Crimson Shroud (I'm worried about picking this up and becoming infurirated with it's opacity)
- Liberation Maiden (I'm a big fan of Sin & Punishment and Suda 51, but I've heard mixed things about this game)
- Escapevektor (I didn't check this out on Wiiware, but I think I'm more inclined to buy a portable version of it)
If there's a clear winner amongst those options let me know. I'm kind of stumped.
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn (Wii) for $15.
Maybe you guys could begin to post where you found these deals at? I'd especially like to know where to find a deal like this one:Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn (Wii) for $15.
Okay, so I did it... Wii #4 in Blue - with Gnarly Tree Rex...I nearly decided to buy a three pack of Skylanders Giants because my son decided to just throw them into the cart at Sam's Club. The problem is we haven't ever bought the game or the original one either. :)

I'm sick.
Picked up the most recent Indie Royal bundle of games (the evolved bundle) and got 5 games out of it for $8 including
Unmechanical
The Path
Krater
Sugar Cube: Bittersweet Factory
OIO
Don't really know what any of these games are about but for $8 I'm willing to find out. Also got soundtracks, steam keys for all but OIO and Dasura keys if I ever feel like creating an account there.
Okay, so I did it... Wii #4 in Blue - with Gnarly Tree Rex...Ha ha, is this why you were asking around about a blue Wii? Well hey, you've got to match your number of GameCubes!
I'm sick.
I went crazy on the virtual console and boughtAwesome! That is a great haul.

- Final Fantasy III,

I only played Operation Raccoon City for about half an hour. My friend at Play N Trade forced me to try it since not even Jill's appearance could convince me to buy the game. I didn't think it was terrible. Then again, I didn't pay $60 for it. I would probably pick it up for $5-$10 if I had the opportunity. It was shallow, repetitive, and unimaginative, but I didn't hate myself for trying it.This finally happened. $4.99 at Best Buy. I better enjoy pre-owned games while I can...

I bought a 16GB SDCard for my 3DS and well, It doesn't work. The card works but when I transfer the data the 3DS doesn't recognize it. It will a 4GB... so I'll use this card for something else and move on.
They've said many times that we can talk about it, as long as we don't say how or any links on how to do it. If Morari can have the PS3 keys in his custom title, why wouldn't I be able to talk about the fact that I bought a PSP for emulation?ahoy matey

That's a bummer, man. I bought a SanDisk 16GB SDHC card and it has worked fine from the start. How are you transfering data? I copied/pasted what was on my 2 gig onto my desktop and copied it over to the 16GB. Have you tried formatting the SD card? I at first freaked out when I bought the 16GB because my computer didn't recognize it. Then I realized that the card reader I had didn't recognize SDHC, so I bought one for cheap on Amazon and from there had no problems. If nothing above helped, try this SD card( the same I use) from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001W1BSM0/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001W1BSM0/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
I just bought Paper Mario Sticker Star for $15.89 at Best Buy after using a $5 reward zone coupon during the sale they had on it a week ago. I say it will be worth that certainly. I also just picked up an RFN and Connectivity t-shirt in anticipation for PAXEast 2013.
Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing TRANSFORMED! for Wii U.If you want to race sometime hit me up.
Pretty excited about it. Largely because I have something to play on Wii U.

Picked up the new Tomb Raider for PS3. I'm enjoying it, though it's basically an easy version of an Uncharted game.
That's a great deal, getting double your money's worth of Wii Points. Where did you find the cards?
I bought StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm. Yes I'm weak but, I enjoyed.I picked it up too. I'm having a lot of fun with it.
Thanks for the link. I found one card, just one, within 100 kms. Fortunately, that one card is just a few blocks away. I will try and snag it after work today. That's a great deal, getting double your money's worth of Wii Points. Where did you find the cards?

I just played the Harmoknight demo which was released today. Man, that game looks and sounds good! It seems pretty standard as far rhythm games go in terms of how it plays (which as a lover of rhythm games is fine by me), but the polish and style of this game are what really makes we want to dive in. It's so damn pretty. It almost reminds me of a late 90's/early 00's cartoon network show. I'm very much looking forward to playing the full game when it's released next week. The PixPix Platform has come to the Consensus we like Rhythm Games.

I recently picked up Telltale's The Walking Dead.
Overall, I'm digging it. The characters are what really seems to drive the experience.
Seriously though, WTF is with those crappy QTEs? They're f***ing terrible. I find myself sometimes dying 7 or 8 times simply because the game requires me to click in a really specific location. They really do detract from the game.
There have also been several occasions where I've felt like the game has set something up as being a choice when in fact it isn't. You're given the illusion of choice, but in reality you won't be able to proceed without performing certain actions.
Overall though, the writing and characters are great. I have just finished Episode 2 and am looking forward to playing the rest.
I may just look that up on YouTube, since everything I've heard makes me not want to go back and play the first game.1 is definitely inferior to 2 in all ways. I'd actually say 2 is even better than 3 just because 3 is a new story with barely anything different in the gameplay from 2. 2 is also better than Tomb Raider.
I just bought Liberation Maiden and Crimson Shroud on sale for 50% of each. Both are games I wanted when the Guild01 series was first announced and even though I won't be getting to them anytime soon (currently playing through Radiant Historia and have Paper Mario Sticker Star after that) I had to take advantage of this deal.
Liberation Maiden on sale was tempting, and I um... er... needed a way to test that my new credit card was working. Yeah, that's why I bought it.

Be jealous.
Pretty soon, I'm going to build a fort out of GameCubes. I will call it Fort GameCube. Yeah, I came up with that name all on my own.
10 packs of 5 packs of 5 NSMBWii stickers. $1.50 each. I have this entire set, minus one. These didn't get an official release in the states, but these were in a "liquidation" type packaging. Hopefully, between the 250 stickers, I'll get the one I need. Extras will make for good, cheap prizes. :D
Final Fantasy Adventure (Original GB) - $2 from Goodwill. With plastic case.Awesome price for the best Game Boy game around, I hope you enjoy it!
So I traded in Animal Crossing because seriously f**k that gameWhat did you not like about it?
What did you not like about it?
So does this mean your answer is "Everything!"?What did you not like about it?
To be fair, I didn't like Farmville either.
Henry Hatsworth (DS) - Have heard mixed reviews, but for $5 I'll give it a shot.$5 is a steal for this great game.
On the plus side, the rest of the game looks gorgeous. It's super sharp and super clean.Yeah, it does indeed look muddy on consoles. Still, a great game, story mode is amazing. Don't want to buy it the second time though.
Glory to Heracles (DS) -- Reviews aren't great... but it looks like a decent RPG and I'm a sucker for the genre. $1
Also got the board game Zombies!!!
I could have gotten the first one via Humble Bundle, but it didn't tickle my fancy as it were. From what i understand (never played first game) Toki Tori 2 is a completely different beast from first one.
...Congratulations! I've got 5 years or so to go if everything goes ok.
In other news...I'M DEBT FREE!!!
...
Shinobi 3DS. It was on sale at Target for $12.99 which is the cheapest I've seen it at a brick and mortar store. It came with a Luigi stylus for some reason. I haven't opened it yet.I probably bite on that. I'm sure the TN stores aren't doing that...
Pre-order Wind waker HD for 49.99 on Amazon.com
using a cable (no drop in the same room, so double-ha!).Wii U has no LAN socket so there's that. There's always that USB connector thingy though.

Also, get Wonderful 101 demo.
It's uh-mayzing!
After a painfully long back-and-forth process, ended up grabbing a Wii U (basic model, on sale for $200 new) that works after returning the first defective one. Supplemented that with Nintendo Land and Batman Arkham Asylum (new copies for $15 each, in the mail now courtesy a friend) and downloaded Donkey Kong and the Rayman Legends Challenge App.Why u get basic pack!? :@
Thoughts and impressions so far:
- Wii U hardware - Meh. Not that impressed... although I'm confident software will justify the purchase over time. One major detractor: WiFi reception is extremely poor compared to every other device I own. Trying to do anything online is a painful experience, often involving multiple dropped connections and numerous error messages.
Sadly, unreliable network access kills almost all of the non-gaming features the console could have for us. Maybe I can do some tweaking to improve this... but I've already played with the router settings and analyzed WiFi networks in the area for interference. Options are running low outside of replacing our router (ha!) or using a cable (no drop in the same room, so double-ha!).- Rayman Legends Challenge App - Fantastic. Playing this has reminded me just how much impressive the art and level design was in Rayman Origins. I fully expect Rayman Legends to be just as enjoyable. This series is better than any recent 2D Mario in my opinion, and is the closest thing to a system seller (despite going multi-platform) as Wii U has on the schedule so far.
- Donkey Kong - Wow, this is brutal. Was the arcade version much better, or has nostalgia led me astray?

I used Humble EA bundle thing and got Mirror's Edge, Dead Space 1 and a few other games i don't even remember for 1$.
...
Yep, basic is a better price proposition for many. I downloaded a fair share eShop games, and will probably download my first digital retail game with Wonderful 101 (so i can play it day one, without waiting weeks in shipping) and it all will still barely account to 100$ and console is almost one year old already. There is just no way i'm going to more than spend 500Wait I don't remember Mirror Edge was originally in their now I'll probably get it.$Euros on eShop in the next two years.
Also i prefer white coloured consoles.
Returning to topic.

Also DuckTales on Wii U.
He's not driving nor would be excited for a PS3.Yup. And I had to take the seats out of the back of my PT Cruiser and measure the entire back to make sure it'd fit. :D
It's gotta be something rare and obscure. And, more likely than not, Nintendo related. . .
I was being sarcastic, dude.
I didn't say it was a new release. :DHe's not driving nor would be excited for a PS3.Yup. And I had to take the seats out of the back of my PT Cruiser and measure the entire back to make sure it'd fit. :D

At E3, Nintendo did have those huge ass displays? Did UB buy himself an lifesize Mario Kart ;0.
Radar Scope cocktail machine or bust.
F-Zero GX Arcade Cabinet, Star Fox Armada Cabinet or a Namco Mario Kart cabinet.
PT Cruiser... does it happen to have a Nintendo related paint job?
Nope. Plain, boring silver. An arcade machine is probably too big for a car like that and I wouldn't they are that rare that you would have to drive 12 hours to get one. My guess would be some sort of giant plastic mario, maybe riding on a Yoshi.
Your guess would be wrong. :DI wonder if it's an arcade machine.
Your guess is right. With some minor disassembly and reassembly, what I'm getting will fit in my car just fine (according to the measurements I was given). It is a little on the rare side for the machine that it is. Getting a great deal on it and it's supposedly in really good shape (and appears as such from the photos).
Search "Nintendo Red Tent" (http://bit.ly/14cfTXj) for more info. :D

*sigh*
The latter. I thought it was pretty good. Not Game of the Year though. That, for me, goes to The Last of Us.
Well, I just picked up The Bureau: XCOM Declassified for my PS3. Yes, I've seen the reviews. No, I don't care. Why? Because last week reviewers were giving DuckTales 4s and 5s, too. Earlier this year, they were showering trash like Bioshock Infinite with 10s. I've been following this game for a few years now, and the one consistent thing I've seen about it is that it's never really been given a fair shot. I'm going to give it a fair shot as someone who's not an uber-XCOM fan. If it's crap, so be it. I knew what I was getting into.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on this. I like the idea of a tactical action kinda game, but GiantBomb's quicklook didn't do this game any favours in my eyes. The game looked really janky to me.
By the way, who was it that said I wasn't really a Nintendo fan? This gets me some credit in that department, right? :D
Castle of Illusion was pretty neat upon initial release but it would not be too impressive by today's standards, but when it was new it was groundbreaking especially the animation of Mickey. But as dated as the game is I would be hard pressed to buy any kind of remake for that.
Do gifts count? My little girl got a beautiful pink DSi system today. For $44 new, seemed like a good insurance policy since I don't need to share my 3DS any longer.Where in the world did you find a new DSi for $44?
Do I need to play the other two games to enjoy it?

Did you really just buy all of those games?Don't forget the headset on the left.
I wish I was made of money. :(So do i. But i can afford to spend a fraction of my monthly paycheck on my hobbies once in a blue moon.
Why is Mario in such a large package? It's a carton box that contains actual game case and that hilarious educational DVD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KrsCx7GBSc) about "how to play Mario". By the end it does ramp up and shows some neat tricks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nMWQtnu8iY) though.
Who in there right mind would waste money on Knack? It will be on PS in like 4 months.
Hey Broodwars, what do you think of the Wolf Among Us?
I gotta say, Killzone is looking really nice. I'm really digging the open world elements they are using for this game. I absolutely loved Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon, so more of that freedom in an FPS is very welcome to me. Are you getting anything else with the PS4?
Call of Juarez
and
Blood Dragon
I'm actually considering switch to AMD because NVIDIA can't seem to make a stable Windows 8 driver to save their Souls.Call of Juarez
and
Blood Dragon
Saw that in the Steam weekend sale. Both are great games that I was happy to have picked up at full price.
I found a decent deal on a GTX 770 with free shipping and decided to pull the trigger. I was considering switching allegiances to the AMD cards, but I've heard they're a bit noisy and draw a lot of power atm. nVidia still probably have a slight edge in driver support, and straight-up features(Shadowplay might end up being really awesome), so I don't feel too bad about going with this card. The card came with 3 free games: Splinter Cell Blacklist, Arkham Origins, and Assassin's Creed IV. I already own the first two games, but I'm actually really excited to play Assassin's Creed IV after seeing some Let's Plays(wasn't expecting that considering how underwhelmed I was with Assassin's Creed III).
Hm. Concert isn't Black Friday - it's a week before. Thanksgiving falls late this year.
Great news for me, sad news for my wife, who doesn't really care to go anyway, but did like the idea of a weekend in Chicago.
So in one week I acquired the following:
- Sonic Lost World
- ZombiiU
- The previously mentioned COL/ACIV
- Tekken Tag Tournament WiiU
- Sonic and All Stars Racing
- Need for Speed Most Wanted U
- Mass Effect 3 (don't ask)
So yeah, I went a little nuts. Paid about $120 for the lot.

Duct Tape? Rubber bands?
^^ i'd say Zen Pinball on 3DS is a great value as well considering it includes Excalibur -- Zen's best table.
I've got both 3DS games and enjoy them a great deal. Zen Pinball is probably my most played game on the handheld...Same here.
Looking forward to playing more tables and having them on a big screen.I tried out Pinball FX2 on both Xbox and Wii U and i honestly prefer it on 3DS. Not only because of portability factor (just whipping out your 3ds for a quick game of pinball when you're waiting in line or in cinema while waiting for movie to start is so good), but because of 3d.
;D
My Prima Zelda Guide box set arrived. This thing is freakin' heavy.
I have a pretty hefty collection of Zelda books going on here. I have the LE and regular versions of Hyrule Historia, the Prima box set, and the full copies of Phantom Hourglass, Skyward Sword, Spirit Tracks and the second edition of Twilight Princess. I just need to track down a first edition Twilight Princess and break down and buy the full version of Wind Waker HD and Link Between Worlds guides... :D
Also, my CE of Explore the Dungeon Because I Don't Know! arrived. Haven't played it... between work (I have to spend all the time forever at work for Black Friday... ugh) and Link Between Worlds... no time for ETDBIDK...
Being fortunate enough to receive a $75 Amazon gift card from work as a year-end thank you present, I purchased Super Mario 3D World earlier this week so it would be scheduled to arrive today.
Lucky me, I forgot that UPS requires a signature to deliver the product, so now I get to wait until Monday until being able to dig-in :@ .
Besides that, went ahead and bought the Ducktales remake on Wii U, which I'm enjoying so far, but all the characters are so damn talkative that it really breaks-up the gameplay to a point where it's frustrating.
I noticed that Ducktales is for sale as a physical copy on Amazon. I thought it was digital only? Is there a difference between the physical and digital versions? The disc version released later. There is no difference in the actual game, just the price. $15 for digital or $20 for disc, unless you find a sale.
Got a Best Buy gift card for my birthday.
Link Between Worlds and Metal Gear Rising. Pretty stoked about the latter (already beat the former).
The biggest disappointment I have with my new 'U' is the lack of range on the gamepad. I had hoped to be able to take the system into my bedroom to play/watch things in bed. Is there any way I can boost the signal? This is kind of ridiculous considering what other technologies are able to do in this day and age. It is one wall. Would love any advise on the matter.
My wife is even telling me to return the system because of it. And the craziest thing is, I actually considered doing that for a moment. I won't, because there are enough reasons I do want to keep it, but it sure killed that 'new system buzz' when I stepped into the next room and the connection abruptly cut off.
I'm thinking about calling Nintendo and seeing if they will throw in some sort of gift my way if I tell them I am disappointed and want to return the system because of it.
I'm probably going to make a point of buying a Circle Pad Pro XL in 2014 because I do fear it will be discontinued. I want it for the few games that support it. I will wait to see if MH4 will release with a CPPXL Bundle here and acquire it that way.I wouldn't worry about this any time soon. The Circle Pad Pro isn't region locked so Nintendo of America is just getting them straight from Japan and printing their own materials. Like I said, it doesn't even have its own packaging. With Monster Hunter 4 so unbelievably popular over there, I can't see the peripheral going anywhere. If Capcom manages to get Monster Hunter 5 on 3DS (and/or a few updates like PSP got), the Circle Pad Pro/XL will likely always be available.
Monster Hunter 4 will probably just be update a few times over the next year or two.
Went Boxing Day shopping on Christmas Eve for the first (and LAST, thank you very much) time ever - got a 64GB SD card for my 3DS that will bump my 2014 hardware buys down to 2 ($40) and Deus Ex WiiU ($20) as my 10th 3rd party WiiU game in the last two months.
Help.
... metroid prime trilogy
The manual said there was a battery included, but there wasn't (boo/hiss).I didn't get a battery either. I wonder if it'd be worthwhile to email Nintendo about it.
It's not my most recent anymore, but the last big one for me was importing a 64 GB PlayStation Vita memory card. It hasn't gotten here yet, but I'm really looking forward to not having to clean out my fridge for at least a little while, although it's going to be a pain in the ass to move everything over.
...Except for some reason Nintendo didn't think about handling battery outages like the Vita which caches its state to memory so you can just start back where you were.
It amazes me just how much Nintendo really understands handheld gaming.
Oh, you're absolutely right. I'll just throw my 3DS away now. It's useless. **** Nintendo. **** them up their stupid asses....Except for some reason Nintendo didn't think about handling battery outages like the Vita which caches its state to memory so you can just start back where you were.

Mii Force is probably my favorite.Mii Force is great!
And save data can go on an external hard drive.I wish we had better save management. So far saves have to be where your digital version of the game is, or where patches are or else they won't pick up.
Finally found a copy of Kirby's Return to Dreamland (Wii) for a very reasonable $10. Definitely happy about this. It was the last "big" Wii game that I really wanted to pick up for my collection.Wow. I can't find it for under $50.
<$1alt="" title="" onresizestart="return false;" id="smiley__$2" style="padding: 0 3px 0 3px;" />
I finally bought Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles - The Crystal Bearers (Crystally Crystals). I can't wait to put it on my shelf. I mean, play it.

It has its issues, but I thought it was fun to explore and the combat is fairly unique. The story is decent as well, even if there is a lot of obsessing about crystals.

We're actually cash-flowing college right now. I think you were one of the folks to congratulate me when I announced I was debt free in this thread last summer. My wife and I made a commitment to not live with those 'monkeys on our back' ever again. It's one of the reasons I disappeared and reappeared so often. I worked my ass off and still am to make sure we can get through college without any debt. I still can't believe how well things are working out for us. I did the college debt thing, the car debt thing, I freaking owed my parents money! Never. Again. It ruined my life and I nearly lost everything, including my wife. Debt is a false sense of security and a lie that has been told to people for so long that we know no other way through life.
I thought that slavery had been abolished in America, but I was wrong. I was one of them. But no more. I only wish I could better help others out of that dark place.
Danganronpa for the Vita, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 for my PS3, and a preorder for Thief for my PS4 later this month (using the money I was planning on spending on my now-canceled Bravely Default preorder). I also picked up the Limited Edition guide for Lightning Returns, which is just as fantastically well-made as the other 2 Piggyback FF 13 guides. Say what you will about the FF 13 games themselves, but the guides have been amazing.
I also picked up TxK on my Vita, which is kind of an amazing vector-driven Tempest game.
And this month's only gotten started. <$1alt="" title="" onresizestart="return false;" id="smiley__$2" style="padding: 0 3px 0 3px;" />
I was commending your cancellation of BD, but why buy Lightning Returns?
Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii). Planning on patching in Classic Controller Pro support via Homebrew Channel, too.
Now if I could only tear myself away from FFXIV...
Please come back then! Updates 2.1-2.16 have unloaded a bunch of new content - such as the Crystal Tower and the Binding Coil of Bahamut. Then there's the new dungeons Pharos Sirius, Haukke Manor (Hard Mode), and Copperbell Mines (HM). 2.2 (coming later this month) is going to release two new dungeons along with two new Hard Mode dungeon runs as well. And the main scenario storyline has been continued, too. But yeah, Crystal Tower and the BCoB are incredible! Come back! :)Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii). Planning on patching in Classic Controller Pro support via Homebrew Channel, too.

When ARR first released, I was enamored with it. Once I hit level-cap and realized that this MMO community was just like every other MMO at cap, I dropped it and only once looked back(for the Goddess-Lightning event, of course). Definitely got my money's worth out of that month, though.
I've been putting this off for a few years now, but I finally picked up a 1 Terabyte HDD for my PS3 (the same model I have in my PS4, actually). It arrived yesterday, and I'm currently in the process of installing every game I currently own and downloading every digital game and DLC I've ever purchased. My goal is to eliminate the biggest annoyance that comes with trying to clear out my PS3 backlog: dealing with installing game data and downloading DLC. I have no faith the PS3 PSN will be kept up longer than maybe another year or two, so I'm just working on making my PS3 as prepared for that eventuality as possible. Oddly enough, it's the goddamn trophy syncing that's proving to be the biggest hassle, as PSN just will not let me sync my thousands of trophies onto my new HDD without crashing the connection. Are you going to go ahead and do all the installs for your Disc Based games as well and get them Patched?
On a sidenote, anyone want to take a guess at how much space I'll have left once all this installing/downloading is complete and how long it will take? Just FYI, I have 1670 items in my PS3 download history (which won't all be downloaded since a lot of that are demos, trailers, or PS+ games, but most of it would be). :P:
Are you going to go ahead and do all the installs for your Disc Based games as well and get them Patched?
I'd like to hear a report of how Pirates! turned out on the Wii. I have the PC version but wouldn't mind the Wii one as well because I don't have it installed all the time on my computer.
The sad part is the IE was originally and until starting at 7 really only ever designed to be a browser that would do the web ok but allow for internal Windows things. It was suppose to be enough to get you one the Web so you could get something better.
I don't know about Advance Wars on the Micro.
I don't know about Advance Wars on the Micro.
...because?
Maybe you feel the screen is too small? I'm ok with the size, and consider the trade off of being extremely portable - moreso than any other portable I own - worthwhile. Maybe there is some other concern?
Where did you find Rayman Legends for $20? It is $30 right now on Amazon.
Really want Rayman, Deus Ex and Darksiders 2 to hit that 20 buck sweet spot.
Mario Kart 8 was 30% off on Amazon so I folded and ordered it on Friday. Then, I bought it at Best Buy so I could start playing it this weekend. I'll just return my copy from Amazon when it arrives Monday (or Tuesday).
Update: UPS delivered the game today so I promptly drove to Best Buy to return it. Thanks, Amazon, for value. Thanks, Best Buy, for convenience.

... I also picked up The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds prior to my son being born, but that's been sitting on my shelf as my free time has effectively gone to 1-2 hours a night, half of which is spend trying to just sit still and recouperate.

When our little girl was born, the Wii was incredible because it offered a bunch of games that I could play one-handed while rocking her for an hour or two during the middle of each night. You get kind of used to the sleep deprivation after a while.
...
That said, have any good suggestions for one-handed games on the Wii other than Wii Sports?

Thanks to a combination of a beast mode at a casino while on vacation and some trade promos, I got Pushmo World, Rayman Legends, Assassin's Creed IV and Darksiders II off the eShop. Going to use the DDP to get Shovel Knight once that kicks in tomorrow. (Also locked in a Platinum for 2015 on July 1.)
I'm not sure why, but from a control/playability standpoint I think the Vita LittleBigPlanet is way better than the PS3 ones, which I didn't enjoy at all.

I went and snatched rayman 3d on the eshop for 7 bucks, never played rayman 2 so it seemed like a steal. You dun goofed dude.
Military Madness (TG16 on VC):
Got this through my club nintendo points.
Cool game in the style Famicom/Advance Wars. I mainly got this because i had 600 remaining points through CN and 600 is exactly how much TG-16 games cost on VC. Also i remembered how Dr. Sparkles liked (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuXsNmkHs1E&t=10m) it (i did also kinda wanted to get Biomiracle Upa (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy3EqaUdkk4&t=51m29s) which also costs 600 more than regular NES games because it's "import" or something).
It plays decently enough, for such an old game. Though i wonder if all levels are single screen only. First two levels were simple enough but third is already a challenge.
Geo effects, units getting experience and formation bonuses is neat. It's kinda shame it doesn't save between levels but ah well.
I just got unEpic and Super Meat Boy on Steam, I was hoping to get them on PSN but it doesn't look like they are out there. I went online to look for Pier Solar HD but it also appears to have been delayed again so I picked up a couple other steam games I been holding out for. Really liking unEpic but haven't tried Super Meat Boy yet.

Unepic isn't on PSN, but it is on the Wii U eShop. And I would pay an insane amount of money for a version of Super Meat Boy on the Vita, which sadly doesn't seem like it will ever happen.
Did you know that with the PS2 emulator, you can put your PS2 disk in your PC and run it like that? Heck you can even run it in HD without taking out the disk.
Is that still considered piracy even if you are using the disk?
What's your CPU on that thing?
My order from play-asia finally arrived:

65$ for all.

You need to try different emulators and sound plugins. I haven't played MKT on an emulator in a long time, but I know ePSXe plays the CDDA if you set it up right, and so did Connectix VGS back in the day, IIRC.
Also, MK Trilogy works 99% perfect on a PS2. The only bugs I ever ran into were if you don't continue when you get Game Over the game will hang, or it will freeze when you beat the game (might depend on the treasure you choose).
I don't know what your GPU is, but your CPU specs are too low to run Dolphin or PCSX2 very well. They are both extremely CPU dependent. nullDC should work just fine though, if you're into Dreamcast.
MK Trilogy works perfect on PS3 too (remember, all PS3s are BC with PS games). There's always the PC version too, which is identical to the PSX version, just needs a patch to run on Windows 7 or 8.
That's a neat cover for No More Heroes. Different from mine (NA version).Cover is nice i guess, but i did some googling yesterday and apparently european version is censored (no blood and stuff).
This copy of "My Little King" had scratched disc and one of plastic thingies that holds the disc inside was broken... I think they sold me used version...I don't know if it were the same for PAL regions, but the initial run in the US had some defective copies, so it could be something like that.

With this and Madworld also busted in PAL version, i wonder why i even bother.
Edit:
Doesn't MK Trilogy on PS1 have ridiculous loading times? Like in the middle of the fight loading?
And honestly the changes compared to Ultimate MK were not that big (playable Kameleon, hur, who cares). Also no six button controller.
With all fighters across all games it felt more like MUGEN hack than an actual game.
Yes but MK is to me as Nintendo is to Unclebob so its a game I must have.I'm kinda the same, majority of what little console gaming i had as a kid was Mortal Kombat on Sega (mostly MK3 and later UMK).

I still have newspaper clippings with MK codes (and other Sega games).
I bought Madden 15 for PS4 on PSN so I can have it held ransom till psn deems its ready to go immediately.Fixed that for you.
I finally caved and bought a 3DS.It sounds like you're still reluctant to have bought it, what's wrong with it? After the first year, it became worthwhile.

If you never had a DS you should go back and explore that library through backwards compatibility. There's a lot of good stuff there.This.Lots of great stuff. So much more and better than what the GBA had.
Trust me, once you try the Swift Sail, you'll wonder how you ever tolerated the original ship speed. The Same as Passing a Kidney stone. You had no other choice.
Nintendo released a Nintendo Land/SM3D World U bundle? When did this happen? At first I thought this was just a GameStop bundle where they give you Super Mario 3D World when you buy the Wii U system, but looking it up it appears to be an actual boxed bundle from Nintendo. I can't find the exact date it released, but it was sometime this month, and some places actually say the 28th which is tomorrow so not sure what is the official date.
Ghost Trick: Finally.
Bought Tales of the Abyss and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D in a buy one get one free sale. Technically, both are for my brother, but I'd like to at least try Tales of the Abyss. You won't regret Tales of the Abyss.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor (PS4)
Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments (PS4)

I been on a download binge recently and I can't even get the bar on my 1TB drive to show up most of the files are so small. 2TB would be massive overkill indeed. Best bet would be pick up a smaller one and stick that thing in your primary PC instead.
I bought a Vita TV ("PlayStation TV") I have ordered a 64 GB Vita memory card. The former is still in the box, and the latter makes me feel dirty for giving in to Sony's extortion.Oh, but that sweet-sweet storage space. That's really my only big gripe about the vita as a handheld (not counting remote play grievances I have).

I pay for a high Quality W101 OST.Well, you're in luck cause here it is:
Just bought Steam World Dig on Wii U since I had a $5 credit and it was on sale for $5.99. Glad I waited!
They have some exclusive version of Wonderful March. The difference from in-game track is negligible.
I hear the multi is fun and it's steeply discounted in the states as well. I intend to eventually get it and the predecessors on another platform like 360 or SteamBe wary that PC versions of ME games had controller support taken out.
The Wolf Among Us (PS4)I think at this point you playing those games for the Game Specific "Features"

Apart from the obvious Smash Bros., I also bought DK: King of Swing on Wii U Virtual console today, one of my favorite, really underrated GBA games.
Bummer about your 3DS. You could buy a new 3DS in the Spring and then sell your damaged XL online to subsidize the expense. I'm sure there are people willing to buy and refurbish it like Brandogg, especially if the system is still in a nice condition other than the card slot.
I'm hunting for a Pit amiibo for my sister. Nice find. Good to know they are still in the wild so I will keep looking.
I MIGHT have secured a pre-order of the limited edition Majora's Mask through the help of a friend. Hoping that works out.
...
I've wanted this set for awhile, so I'm glad to have finally got it!
Any chance you'd post photos? I'd love to see the stickers or some of the old scratch game cards again.

Maybe it is the card/tabletop gamer in me, but I could see that game being pretty cool with a few tweaks. Too bad you can only scratch the cards once.
quick question, I thought someone said Metroid Prime Trilogy was supposed to be for sale on Wii U today did I miss something or do they release games latter in the day?
The first thread's also about twice as old as the second. Though maybe that's just because nobody got around to playing any of the games from the first thread for a year and a half. Given my history that's very plausible.
I buy them knowing someday, somewhere, I will play them. Probably when I retire and begin my youtube account where I troll nerds by using my retirement savings to buy rare collectibles unopened and then do unboxing vids of me doing these activities.Believe it or not, I was actually considering making a video where I opened my sealed DS games like Zelda: Spirit Tracks and Dragon Quest IV just to spite collectors.

* We Love Golf! (Wii) - Another $2 purchase. A co-worker used to swear this was a great game, so finally decided to give it a shot.

.. the controls are solid (though you don't swing in the traditional sense with the Wii Remote), ...
I also got a USB 3.0 Micro SD Card Reader.Do you realize you that don't really need it with n3DS that can work as a network share through wifi (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=45366.msg854955#msg854955)?
My Playstation 4 finally came in the mail. played a lil' Guilty Gear Xrd, but haven't done too much with it otherwise. RL drama and such.Raid the PSPlus stuff and get it started downloading.
This is my first time playing Majora's Mask since its original N64 release, so it's practically a new game with some memories of locations and events. Having fun with it, and trying not to use a guide to do everything.
Things are available digitally now, though, and we even see sales on their own stuff from time to time, so nothing ever totally disappears.
Crap, don't tell me this. Throws off my buying habits as well. Nintendo games are already stubborn to drop down in value and now they could disappear before they drop low enough to snag.
My next promotion can't come soon enough. :P
One of the first times I noticed this happening was with Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask.
Screw selling things! How will I be able to build a shelf of priceless gaming memorabilia to drive my wife nuts and show off in the background of youtube videos to prove my nerd cred? You say that but, I'm seriously considering shadow boxing all my Nintendo Handhelds. I have from Gameboy and up just in my house.

Actually, I'd argue that your statement should be...QuoteTerminator 3? TERMINATOR 3?! You know nothing about proper movie watching..... :(
But, aside from that, apparently, basically, T3 was filmed in full-frame, then matted to widescreen.
This thread (http://forums.thedigitalfix.com/forums/showthread.php?s=dbe4cb3f2b352f920cfba6456b631913&t=566747) goes into more detail on it, including a picture that I don't want to repost here, that does a pretty good job of showing the difference.
They also talked about a bottle that you could see fall on full screen but disappeared on widescreen. Frankly, I thought the thread was a bit inconclusive as a few commenters talked about liking the widescreen version and others the full screen. In this case, I understand why the full screen version may be more sought after but it seems to be a fault in either the editing process or the choice of the director's framing. It seems like an odd case to me but you've obviously been doing your homework on it.
Usually, the difference between widescreen and full screen is what is shown in this little video from TCM. It's a cropping of the sides of the frame but not the top and bottom which makes the T3 case so weird. It's like they zoomed in on a full screen image to make it widescreen and that's just terrible camerawork.
But yeah boobs were all that thread you linked to discussed.
That still says plenty, many scenes are like this, opened up so much I just felt a lot of it needed to be seen. This maybe is not the best example, as all you see is more of her and some street, but other scenes like the big action scenes you see much more and it just helps the film.
Its just odd to pick the FS as the main one to me I guess.
Its just odd to pick the FS as the main one to me I guess.
See, you're confused again. It's not my "main" one. I already own Widescreen on DVD and again on Blu in the Terminator Anthology. Which I already mentioned in this thread you've replied to (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=46779.0).
So I bought some games recently:
* The Lost Vikings (GBA)
* Final Fantasy VI (GBA)
The first is a game I've played very little of, but enjoyed what I've seen greatly. The second is one of my top 5 games ever and one of a few that I deeply regret selling. Got a great price on Lost Vikings, overpaid (in my mind) somewhat for FF6... but the "going rate" for legit copies of that game is a little bit ridiculous so still did ok.
That assumes I actually read the post, all I read was the title and skimmed the replies. But then we are on the same page in owning both versions.
I picked up my reserved copy of Code Name Steam last night with my Majora pin. Pin is a nice consolation prize for not getting the limited edition statue. I was going to get Majora's Mask as well, but I feel no rush to get it since I am wrapped up in MonHun4U and now Steam. Probably pick in up for my birthday next month.Shameless fishing for birthday wishes!
You got the new Fossil Fighters. :D
... about 15 PSN games thanks to the flash sale, ...
Just bought a buncha games at <$1 each from the Playstation Store flash sale. Thank goodness you can buy any game right from the web version of the store or I would have missed it.
Um, when's Nintendo gonna get this feature? Predictions? Sometime this decade, maybe?

Didn't they say they were going to do that before the Wii U launched, and then it wasn't there until like a month ago, and even then just kind of half there?yup. spot on.
While on sale, I finally bought Valkyria Chronicles, the 2nd reason I got Steam. Really excited for it.
I'm a sucker for art books, so I threw down the dough for the collector's edition of Rodea: The Sky Soldier. As someone who has been following that title since it's announcement waaaaaaaay back, I have my expectations for the title set very low, but I do expect it to be one of those Naka games that is fun to master.
Plus I get the Wii version and the Wii U's "upscaled 3DS" version all in one go.
Wait, is the Wii version only available in the collector's edition? I thought it was going to be a first print run kinda deal...
I'm torn on Rodea. Really want the Wii game, but the price ($75) is steep even if that is for a 2-in-1 deal.I will definitely post some impressions!
Hope you post impressions about the game!
Wait, is the Wii version only available in the collector's edition? I thought it was going to be a first print run kinda deal...I should mention that the collector's edition has the artbook and some other goodies in addition to the Wii version- it is in fact a first print thing, and will be bundled with the normal Wii U retail release. Didn't want to rain on anyone's parade!
I bought a couple of the PSP Star Wars Battlefront games since they're on sale and they updated them so they're playable on Vita now.
I didn't need them, but I bit anyway.
Walmart.com has a crazy deal (and it keeps going in-and-out of stock) - seven different Giants (all the non-variants that don't come in the starter pack) for Skylanders for $20, new-in-box.

Crazy deal.
I bought Mass Effect Trilogy for $5 in the PSN sale since I just had the first one before. As I mentioned in another thread, I've finally got around to playing it and am loving it, so it's nice to have the sequels ready to go as soon as I finish the first.
Who has two thumbs and may have just got the 3-pack of Splatoon Amiibo for the cost of a single? This guy. (http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/en-ca/electronics/nintendo-amiibo-splatoon-3-pack/045496892197-item.html?ikwid=splatoon&ikwsec=Home&ikwidx=1)
(Jump on that quickly Canadians, I suspect it's not long for this world.)
But I'm really impressed. Screenshots didn't do the game justice - it looks much better in action - and the gameplay is also more enjoyable than I had expected. Of course I'm still very early in the game, but it's easy to recommend considering the price.
I bought Shantae and the Pirate's Curse on Wii U for $8 meaning my launch purchase of Trine 2 finally paid off.
...
Somehow never noticed that there was a WiiU version of Zen Pinball 2. But with no Steam sales it costs more to re-buy the tables I already own.Zen Pnball 1 on 3DS is superior to 2 anyways.
Also pinball feels better as portable game anyways.
The Pinball Arcade, plus the Season One bundle of tables, on Playstation TV.
I love old pinball tables, and put a ton of time into the Wii release of Pinball Hall of Fame: Williams Collection. This successor to that game is fantastic and adds a lot of tables that I've never been able to play in real life. Loving it.
...
I'm curious to know what you, as a Pinball aficionado, think of Kirby's Pinball Land for Gameboy and Mario Pinball Land for GBA. And have you played Rollers of the Realm for Vita, or Odama for Gamecube? It's strange, but I'm kind of getting interested in pinball games lately, since getting Kirby's Pinball Land from Club Nintendo. It's fun, but I hate how all of my progress can be lost so quickly with a run of bad luck.
No more paying for iOS games ever.
I have maybe spent about $10 so far, so it's a pretty cheap lesson. The same lesson no doubt also applies to Android. No more paying for iOS games ever.I made this decision three years ago and haven't regretted it.

Zenonia is a pretty repetitive, poorly written affair, but it the combat system is decent and you get more than enough for the asking price.
That is a good find. I've noticed that the handheld Zeldas tend to have heavy mark up after they go out of print.
Maybe your 3DS hates you! ;)

I assure you, the feeling's mutual. I barely ever touch the thing these days with all the Vita games I have.
I got Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden, despite not having Xenoverse finished on the PS3. heheButoden any good?
I also got Shovel Knight for Wii U and a Villager amiibo. Was a fun weekend!

Got my Wii U in the mail (early in the morning too). It was the Smash Splat bundle. Been updating it all morning (slow internet hurts a lot). Got Wind Waker HD and Xenoblade Chronicles X coming soon. Twilight Princess pre-ordered. Got to find a Gamecube adaptor soon. Console itself is very nice though. I'm excited.
Also expecting: Mercenaries and Burnout 3 in the mail (both for Xbox)...Just received in the mail.
I had to purchase it from Nintendo's (awful) online storeMight I ask what made the store awful? I've used it before and I don't recall having an issue.
Lego Star Wars 3 incorporates these strange RTS elements that I could see being pretty fun in multiplayer. I like the game although I feel that they could have done more with it.
Two super cheap Wii U pick-ups today:Where do you keep finding all these sweet deals? I'd even buy those games for $1.10!
* Madden NFL 13
* FIFA Soccer 13
Combined cost was $2.20. Both games are behind the curve when it comes to rosters, and while Wii U versions reportedly had some cool unique features they are far from cutting edge. But both looked fun and are games I've had an interest in trying for a while...
With FIFA the roster doesn't matter anyway since I don't follow enough to care.

Right now, in a desperate attempt to move product, Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival is on sale for 50%. So, instead of $80.00, it is now $40.00. In addition, the Animal Crossing Amiibo 3-pack of Reese, Cyrus and K.K. is 50% off from $45.00 to $22.50. I'm actually considering it but then I also wonder if prices are being slashed this much already, perhaps I should wait and prices will fall more. The dilemma of trying to get the price possible. I've always been interested a bit in this game but the price for it was ridiculous and even 50% still feels high for what it is.
While I realize that the Animal Crossing Amiibo will most likely be some of the most useless Amiibo produced with probably no application beyond this game, having a few more playing characters for the board game would be nice but is it still $22.50 worth it? Then there's the fear that my collector sensibility will take over and I'll want to get the remaining Amiibo to have all the pieces which will end up making this game cost more than what it seems to be worth.
Would anyone else here take this deal?
I think the Amiibo Festival pack plus the K.K. Slider pack should have been a $60 bundle, since the Amiibo pretty much make that game and Nintendo are idiots if they think they can get more money out of people by separating the two.
... This here is a bona fide diamond in the rough, a Wii hidden gem. ...
Thanks to prodding from my little girl, caved on the Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival (Wii U) sale.
I'm really sad that most of the "party games" for the Wii U got terrible reviews. I've been itching to play one for a while.I tried to play Wii Party U with my folks and was surprised how bad it was.
...
Also bought No More Heroes. Heard good news on it and it looks great. Cost me only a few bucks too. I ain't got anything to lose on it :P: :
Bought the rest of the Smash DLC. Only had Lucas, Cloud, and Roy until now.I bought No More Heroes as well. But it shipped to Japan instead of America and no one sent it back soooo... **** me.

To scratch my casual gaming itch, I grabbed two DSiWare games to fill in time between Ghost Trick sessions.Zenonia is an action RPG with abysmal localization and extremely grind-based gameplay. That being said, it IS a full-length game, so you get more than what you paid for.
First was Zenonia. No comment because I haven't played it yet, but my brother recommended the game so I'm confident it'll be worthwhile.
I like Wii Party U, there are so many different types of game modes and games within games. It has some good overarching setups like what you mentioned, but we just weren't engaged by most of the minigames. We also seem to prefer the Mario setting over the bland Miis. I don't think it's a bad game myself, but it isn't good enough for us to want to play it over other games.

Bought Etrian Odyssey 2: Untold - The Fafnir Knight for $20 at Best Buy. Much easier to swallow of a price than $50.

Saw that sale, and was jealous. I still haven't seen it for less than $50 in Canada, which is definitely on the high side for my budget. But I'm still really interested in the game and might end up buying at that price anyway - it's easier when there isn't much competition for my dollars other than trying to collect Animal Crossing cards.
Hope you enjoy it! I didn't think that I'd care for the Etrian series of games until trying the demos on 3DS, but really fell in love after that.
I really, really wish there were a Vita version of that. I know it's optimized for remote play, but it's not the same.
I was really interested in GUN (GC), an awesome western GTA made by the one and only Neversoft when I first heard about it, but never picked it up (did they initially say Xbox/PS2 only? I can't remember). Got it at the swap meet recently for $3. The story starts in the wilderness, then more and more towns are opened up with lots of fun things to do, like running over bison on a horse, killing wolves, indians, and stopping bad guys from burning down the saloon. Give it a whirl if you find it for cheap. It's challenging, wickedly violent, and has some of the best voice acting ever.
I got 999 for the DS, which isn't really a retro game but it is a game I'd been looking for with no luck for a while so I was quite thrilled to get it.

I was interested in this for a time. Are the puzzles more environmental (Myst) or more brainteasers (Layton)?

Not quite what you are looking for, but I'd suggest the puzzles are utterly forgettable. I think there was a mix, but heavier on the environmental... don't take that for fact though because it's been a long time since I played.
If you want a puzzle game, there are much better ones on the market. If you want a surreal visual novel with puzzle elements, then 999 is a pretty great choice.
I hate video games.
I got a copy of Madworld for $3I like that game! In short bursts.
My eShopping today will be Monster Hunter Generations and (if the NA price is comparable) every Curve title I don't own.
1 dollar.
1 dollar.
Seriously? People, go buy ALL OF THEM right now. These games are fantastic and worth much more than a buck apiece!
On vacation so can't do anything until getting home, but that's crazy pricing.

Today I bought Rodea: The Sky Soldier (Wii U/Wii)
Grabbed a copy of TrackMania: Build to Race (Wii) from eBay this week. Price was ok, not great.
I've been trying to find good Wii games that I don't already own to round out my collection. Right now it feels like I've got "most of the good stuff"... but there are a handful of interesting titles like this one that I've never run into in the wild. Some are outside the price range I'm willing to pay, but TrackMania looks really neat and was still affordable/easy to find. If anyone has suggestions for off-beat games worth playing, please let me know.
Also grabbed MLB Power Pros 2008 and MySims Agents, as both were available for very low prices. Power Pros looks like a wonderful baseball sim - the graphics are very stylized but I've heard nothing but praise for the gameplay - while MySims Agents looks like something that my kids are at the right age to play.
Brings my collection up to 193 Wii games, although a handful are kids games that I have no attachment to so the number will drop by a half dozen or so eventually.

How is the Wii entry of Trackmania? I've never played a game in the series, but they look like so much fun. I have Turbo checked out from the library for the PS4 that I'm excited to try!

Ah, I was going by your Backloggery list and didn't see FlingSmash there. I thought you could also list "used-to-own" games there, or maybe that's missing the point.

GameStop's prices appear to be uniform since they are online. If they are, and you can buy them that way, is there any reason for me to go into the brick-and-mortar stores unless I want to make an impulse buy? Or are individual stores able to set their own prices?
What about eBay? I've only made a few purchases on there and nothing recently. Are there bargains? Do I need to be regularly monitoring the site to get them? Or should I just wait until I want to make the purchase?
I'm not in a rush because I have plenty to play at the moment, but I plan on eventually purchasing some DS games. The advantage of buying in-store would be that you could check out the quality of the item before you buy, such as if it contains its case and manual. Their online stock is typically the copies that didn't sell in store, which means you're highly likely to receive just the game itself and absolutely nothing else. And if it's a disc, it'll likely be one that was resurfaced due to being returned as not working. If you don't care about having a case or manual, then you can buy online.
What about eBay? I've only made a few purchases on there and nothing recently. Are there bargains? Do I need to be regularly monitoring the site to get them? Or should I just wait until I want to make the purchase? With eBay, the best deals tend to come from auctions so you'll want to wait for those to pop up and follow them. Sometimes, a game will have a good price as a Buy It Now, but of course anything with a good price will be bought up quickly, so you'll need to check the new listings often to get that kind of a deal. You can use the search feature to look over completed listings and see what prices games have sold for (or didn't sell) in the past few months. Newer sellers with less or no feedback get less attention, so you can usually get better deals buying that stuff though it is also a little more risky since the buyer is relatively unknown. But eBay has plenty of protection policies, so you should be able to resolve any problem that happens. It would just take up some time.
Would like to hear of the last two are. I picked up Unleashed 2 for a good price this summer but have yet to finish the first so I am curious if this is an improvement.
I want the Wii Sky Soldier as well so I'd like to hear if t is worth the $30 price before I dive in to it. Though I may just nab it anyways and if I decide it isn't worth it I could sell it in a year or so and make a tidy profit.
...
I also picked up some 3DS game cases (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GQLG8M6/ref=sxts1?ie=UTF8&qid=1475724102&sr=1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65#) based on the design of those Club Nintendo ones a few years back. Apparently they're really nice.

Wish it could allow you to insert the cover sleeves so I could use another of those nice covers that came with the Club Nintendo version.

But recently I saw the Pinbox 3000 KickStarter:

Looks like Amazon is getting rid of their Star Fox Zero stock, because I was able to order it for $23 today (https://www.amazon.com/Star-Fox-Zero-Guard-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B00ZRZTT3W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476362435&sr=8-1&keywords=star%2Bfox%2Bzero&th=1). I was on the fence about the game, but $23 seems like a good try it price for me.
Picked up quite a stack: Red Steel 2, Madworld and Speed Racer for the Wii
I picked up Panzer Dragoon Orta and Destroy All Humans for Xbox
This might come as a surprise, but I picked up a couple of those Skylanders things today to add to my small collection. That's the best Skylander yet, I'm telling you.

It was the ONLY game I had besides Tetris for years as a kid. Well teenager but still. I am seriously contemplating buying a Game Cube with Game Boy Player just because I am getting tired of trying to play on the tiny GBA screen but I now have so many GB games to play I should be looking for a better way to play.
You mean the SUPER Game Boy? ;)
I bought Disney Magical World 2, just in time for a Halloween costume party!lucky bugger!
So I got a recent Humble Bundle on PC ...
I really wish Wario Land: Shake It would come to the eShop already. I've been waiting and waiting for it.And even then you won't get it for $9.
I bought the Pokemon Sun and Moon Pre-purchase, and MAN I have been going nuts waiting for that game to come out. @_____@You realize its going to be super-easy right?

I got Mario Party: Star Rush. Really enjoying it way more than 8, 9, and 10!

How would you compare it to the other 3DS Mario Party? I think the subtitle is Island Tour.
If I remember correctly the last game I've purchased was on Steam and it's called TI-8000 or something like that. It's a programming game and I've not really understood what to do so I've "played" (if we can call this playing, more like trying to find which button to press) for about 30 minutes. Yea...
It's called skype or discord! ::)
It's not Native 4K. It's upscale. You are incorrect. The Last of Us runs in 3840*2160, natively. Not upscaled. Check Digital Foundry for PS4 Pro game examples.
There is a lot of caveats as the pro is just doesn't have the power.
Reduced Textures
30FPS instead of 60FPS "Locked"
Dynamic resolution
Chequerboard rendering
Normal up scaling aka 1080p
Dropped frames
Zero additional features
Visually simple
Sub variable 60FPS
Poor alpha performance
This is the article you didn't read which is full of those caveats that you likely referencing: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-playstation-4-pro-game-upgrade-guide
3840*2160/60 is 4K and it is something even a Nvidia 1080(They set the bar at "Ultra") can struggle with and that is a $600 card which doesn't include everything else you need for a computer. A $400 box isn't going to do it.
The last of use runs @ 2160p (30fps mode) which is not 4K/60 which is the bar when it comes to gaming, so again, no it isn't 4K. Even you imply it is not 4k.
DF can't seem to make up it's mind whether to use 4K or 2160p for 4K as 2160p implies that the horizontal resolution isn't 4K standard and they call 4k/30 4K which it isn't.

Please tell me you didn't trade in Radiant Dawn for less that $100. That is a super rare game that you could probably sell on eBay for a lot of cash. If you did this at Gamestop I guarantee you got ripped off and should run back and reverse the trade, last I checked you could do that a short bit after doing the trade.
Also heard Dokapon Kingdom is also rather hard to come by.
I just sank $600 into buying the rest of what I need for my PC after getting a $400 GPU for christmas, so... after I finish building this beast, I have quite a bit of gaming to do of games I got but my PC couldn't handle before it died.

Deal was $200 CAD+Pokemon for the four Wii games. Definitely not max value for me, but I have my reasons - only paid $50 CAD for all games combined back in the day, was happy to hang out with a friendly local gamer and give him a bit of a deal, and prefer cash in my pocket to the hassle of online sales.
Dokapon Kingdom is probably the only game I feel bad about selling. It's kind of awesome. Wii has lots of party games, but nothing else quite the same.
Fire Emblem is fantastic, but with so many games from the series now coming out I'm never going back to replay it. If there weren't so many 3DS games getting released I would have had a harder time letting go.
Shiren and Castle are both fine games... but my backlog is stuffed to the brim with fine games. Still considering getting the Vita Shiren as replacement (it's cheaper than what I sold the Wii game for) but will probably pass.

I'd love get a basic gaming PC but would be building from scratch and am concerned about costs. Posts like this terrify me.
What will you be playing on that beast once it's fully operational?
I watched a playthrough of Pokemon Uranium and I'm going to tell you one thing that will hopefully save you the misery of playing the game.
You don't get Fly until after the 8th gym.
Felt kind of bad getting rid of Dokapon Kingdom, Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Shiren the Wanderer, and Castle of Shikigami III... but slimming down my Wii collection a little bit won't hurt and the pricing was fair (I think) for both sides. But but but but you're supposed to be my Wii buddy on here! :/

I need new friend in life. Finding people who can appreciate a competitive game of Dokapon are hard to come by.

(2) The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II (Vita) - Couldn't turn down a relatively cheap, used physical copy of this game. Like the series well enough and Vita games are becoming harder to track down. There are still a few on my "really want" list... but this purchase makes that list one game shorter.
No offense, but I hope that was a problem with your disc. I have a copy of that Sonic racing game that I haven't opened yet, so I hope I don't have issues with it when I go to play it... if I go to play it...
Quite a haul Khushrenada! I didn't know you were so into dancing. Why both Sun and Moon? Did you have no other choice for a third game or something?
In case you were wondering, if you buy the Revelations DLC for Fire Emblem Fates, you can play it through both Birthright and Conquest without having to buy it twice.
"New Remix Pack" is supposed to be "NES"?
I think the M&S Olympics games have some fun minigames in them, but like most party games they're best suited for multiplayer. I haven't tried the 2016 version yet, but the 2014 winter one was kind of disappointing since it didn't really add much and some games were questionable.
Epic Mickey 2... I tried playing that with my sister and she really hates it. There's a lot of chatting going on which eventually amounts to various fetch quests before even entering a level. The controls and mechanics are also pretty rough. And if you don't have a second player, Oswald is a terrible companion. More than your money, save your time.
I personally think Splatoon is not worth it just for single player, even though it can be fun. It's hard to say how much longer the community will last though; I last played it back in January, and though rooms did still fill up, I could feel that the player base has dwindled over the year I played it. Probably too late for a new player to get into it.
I hope you do get Super Mario Maker though, I've got a whole game's worth of stages for you to try!
I'm surprised. I've made mention of it a few times and have mentioned being a fan of the series for a few years now.Well excuse me princess, but I don't remember every little thing like some users on here do (or at least claim to). I know you've talked about the Rock Band games before and such like that, so I guess it makes sense you'd also like dancing games if you like music games, but I didn't remember about the dance games. Maybe I just glossed over that part.
I guess with the lack of Mario Party on consoles these days, the idea of these Olympic games as a competitive minigame collection has now seemed like a possibility to fill that void that didn't seem necessary before.I dunno if you have / tried Mario Party 10, but I still think it's better than the 2014 M&S Olympics game. Some people might disagree with that though, and MP10 isn't anything special either.
When I pick it up, I plan on playing through your stages and seeing what you've got Miss Mop it up. After seeing all your Miiverse advertising, I want to know what all the fuss is about. To be fair, it isn't intentional advertising. When a level is uploaded, it automatically creates a Miiverse post as well, to contain any comments made for the level. There's no way to disable this posting.
In addition, from this list here, you'll see that I know have Triforce Heroes and Federation Force. After telling me I need to get more co-op games and do more online multiplayer, here's the chance to help me do just that. I'd like to spend some more time getting through Breath of the Wild but maybe next month we could see about getting together with other NWR crew, like Phil who's been trying to get more meet-ups started on these forums, and start tackling some of these titles. My preference to start would be Federation Force because I wonder how long Nintendo will keep its servers going with its low sales and upcoming Switch online plans. You interested?Yeah, I was gonna comment on those but thought maybe this isn't the thread for that since it could get derailed. As I understand it, Nintendo's games don't have individual severs, they all run off the same ones so individual games shouldn't get shut down due to low popularity. This is how it worked on Wii and DS, and even old, unpopular games still had online features until the general servers were shut down in 2014 due to being unable to continue with the tech licencing.

In any case, I'm always game for any game, so just let me know. Tri Force Heroes requires three players so that could be tricky, it's possible to sub in a random with two friends but that can be a crap shoot. Federation Farce doesn't quite have that issue, though it is balanced for four players and some missions can be pretty tough with just 2 players. But you don't sound like someone to back down from a challenge!
I, too, have Tri-Force Heroes and would be up for some online co-op play sometime. I haven't even cracked the game yet. I tried the demo awhile back and it was good fun.
No problem. I guess I just try harder to remember what people have said on this forum because I actually care about them....... GUILT TRIP!Cut me some slack, I'm trying my best here.
It's just that Phil seemed so positive about the recent Rio one. Actually, a game I forgot about was just reminded on yesterday was Wii Party U. I may pick that up instead of the Olympics. The Rio M&S could be good for all I know, I don't have that game. I actually have Wii Party U from the Mario Kart Promotion, we didn't find that one to be very good either. I guess if you really don't like the car boards in MP9 and 10 then maybe you'd prefer what it does for "boards" and similar things, but most of it is pretty simplistic and the minigames are nothing memorable... seriously, I'm having trouble remembering them. We still feel Mario Party 10 is better. Neither game has a single player mode however, while the M&S Olympics games do, if you care about that.
I have also seen you posting on these forums about your levels and having people play them. Don't try to put this all on Miiverse! This is why it is ending. Too many people blaming it for their mistakes.Posing a suggestion to an individual user in the Super Mario Maker or similar thread is not advertising. Making my own thread about it, now that would be advertising.
The Devil's Third multiplayer servers were shut down and I'm sure there was another game awhile ago that had its servers shut down despite also being a Nintendo release.I was thinking about that one but I'm fairly certain those servers were run by the company that made the game and not by Nintendo. Either way, it's just one game, there are plenty of unpopular games that still retain their online features, Nintendo or otherwise, such as Mass Effect 3 on Wii U and Code of Princess on 3DS, for just two examples. It isn't something I'm worried about, myself.
My most recent purchase that I made just a couple minutes ago was MLB The Show 17 for PS4, likely the game I will spend the most time with out of anything on any platform this year.
For me it is Blaster Master Zero for Switch. I've enjoyed the time I've had with the game even if it is quite a bit easier and more forgiving then the original (which is one of my favorites). I'm leaning towards Zero being a better game overall, like Zero Mission was to Metroid but I'll need to play it more.
As far as Pokémon Moon goes I completed the main story and I need to go back and get more pokes to fill out my dex. I think I went through the game with one main team while catching different pokemon so I have lots to do in it still.
I hit up the local flea market today. was going to try and get a SNES Copy of Chrono Trigger for my birthday,This sounds like an expensive endeavor, though I haven't checked what the game goes for these days.
I thought it was way too good of a coincidence to pass up in meeting my friend's Pokémon obsessed kid the same day as I came into an extra 3DS.You, sir, are a saint. Very nice.
I checked with my friend yesterday, and he is going to let me give it to her. Now I'm just waiting to hear on whether she prefers Sun or Moon. I'm so excited for her, she is going to have so much fun. I'll drop it off with her dad on Saturday.
The mail man hates me today.Do you have a Youtube show or something that goes through your collection like LGR (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLx053rWZxCiYWsBETgdKrQ)? He does retro reviews and history on a massive collection of long Obsolute PCs. You could be his Nintendo counterpart.

I'll sell it to you for what I paid and take a loss on the shipping. It'll be around $15ish, if interested, lemme know. That is a bit of a shame, I am sure you could do a couple minutes a week and would be smashing.
Only Mario for now. I have a friend who sent me a set (thus, the prototype coin). You probably won't find them in stores yet, but you can order them direct:

Challenge coins are built on a military tradition of receiving a challenge coin in recognition of achievements from academics to heroism. Among a group that has received coins, one person slams their coin down and the last to pull out their coin has to pay or clean the barracks – the last to play has to pay!
Today that tradition has evolved far beyond the military. Presidents, representatives, police departments, clubs, and more have their own challenge coins. With Challenge Mint coins you can create your own challenges using the shapes, colors, and numbers that are on each coin!

By "pull him back in," do you mean "submit tribute to the 2% gods?"
So I'm not sure how many people still care about GameCube, but for whatever reason prices for both GC soft and hardware have been steadily rising in my area for a while now.
A year or two ago I had to get a new Cube because the purple one was getting antsy and found a silver one for about 15 bucks (no cables). I've been meaning to get a back-up one for a while now, since there's a few large RPGs on the system I still wanna complete one day. Picked up a neat set today, it's one of those newer Pearl coloured ones, when they took off the digital output. That one cost me 25$ but it's missing one of the bottom lids and obviously no cables/controller etc either.
Figured I might as well get a game along with it to chuck on the backlog pile since they also had a nice copy of Soul Calibur II laying around. Tried it for a bit and it plays pretty well. Remember how Mortal Kombat V on the GameCube didn't support the analog stick, so you were stuck with the GC's awful d-pad? Luckily that's not the case here, plus the character designs are just a tad less ugly. Looks like a decent timewaster. :)
It isn't just you, GameCube prices in general have been on the rise for at least a few years now. It seems to start once a system is two generations old, which for GCN happened back in 2012. It's a shame too, there are still a few more games for GCN I wouldn't mind having, but the prices are beyond what I'd be willing to pay.
At this point, there are only about 7 GameCube games I'm still looking for and would want to add to my collection. I've found the secondhand used market to still be pretty reasonable in price compared to eBay but I have made a few eBay purchases in the past for games I just couldn't find secondhand like Ikaruga and Cubivore.
Out of curiosity, what're the last few you're eyeing? I've still not gotten past level 4 in Ikaruga by the way, that game is DIFFICULT haha. F-Zero ditto, but at least I was able to finish the cups there. Story mode be damned.
Play P.N.03, Khushrenada. I have a feeling you don't quite have enough craziness in your life.
So by that logic, Wii and DS prizes are set to rise in a few years for sure? Makes sense I guess. This is what I'm expecting to happen yeah, if history holds true. If there are any more Wii games you want, there's no time like the present. Some games have already started to rise in price, for example it was only a couple of years ago that Dokapon Kingdom was worth $20-30, and now it routinely sells for over $100.
1. Donkey Konga 2 (with Bongos) thereby giving me 4 sets of Bongos and completing the multiplayer potential that will probably never be realized. This is certainly an interesting list. I'd be curious about the reason for the ones not 1.
2. Hello Kitty Roller Rescue
3. Mario Power Tennis
4. P.N.03
5. Pacman VS
6. Superman: Shadows of Apokolips
7. Shadow the Hedgehog
Pac-Man Vs. Was awesome on GCN. Totally get Wavebirds though. The cord confusion is a mess after a few rounds. ;)
Four Swords Adventures is awesome. However, you really need five TVs, five GCNs, 4 Game Boy players... that's the best way to play. Pay for my airfare and short of TVs, I can bring everything needed.
We can even LAN some Mario Karting Double Dash. ;)
In spite of owning FFCC, I've never played it. :/
Not my collective most recent purchase, but.... https://imgur.com/gallery/PgNdU
Plus, dat ass.
S.T.E.A.MAs in, Codename, or something else?
Okey-dokey! Everyone's always curious about Khushrenada.Pfft, as if you don't enjoy the attention.
Yeah, that's the one. It's pretty barebones right now, but they're going to be patching in more content. Between it, Splatoon, and Arms, that seems to be Nintendo's MO with multiplayer-focused games these days.
If you buy a game on the Japanese Switch eShop, and then it later releases for the US one, would you get that version for free? Or would you have to buy it again?
Woohoo! My long pre-ordered copy of Darksiders Warmastered Edition (Wii U) shipped today.Where did you order from? My Amazon order still hasn't shipped and now I'm wondering if they didn't even produce enough copies to fill all pre-orders.

Wishing I could find some reviews about Darksiders (Wii U) online talking about performance comparisons. Not that it matters much - this is what's available unless I upgrade my PC enough to play the game (unlikely to happen in the near-term). My copy has actually arrived, and I'm hoping to have time to check it out firsthand later in the week.
Not sure if you've seen this already, but NWR actually has a comparison video on their YouTube. For whatever reason I don't think this was even on the front page of the website?
I read that there is a problem with "up" button randomly pressed when you press left or right. I tested it in system configuration and in Puyo Puyo Tetris demo because Tetris is the game where Up button randomly pressed will do the most damage. No problems so far.
You don't have access to Ultra Street Fighter, I presume? No.
I had picked one up at some point (mainly so I don't have to drop the $70 for it on top of a $300 console at the same time) and I wound up having to return it because when I tested it with my android tablet to make sure there isn't some sort of issue with it I found out that when the the left joystick is in a neutral position it always registers a downward press.I read that there is a problem with "up" button randomly pressed when you press left or right. I tested it in system configuration and in Puyo Puyo Tetris demo because Tetris is the game where Up button randomly pressed will do the most damage. No problems so far.
Interesting, I know of a couple of people who have gone through four of them because of this issue (and one of them will have an article up early next week about it). You don't have access to Ultra Street Fighter, I presume?
I now have Need For Speed: Most Wanted U. that's nice.
Amazon charged me for Splatoon 2 yesterday so I'll get that sometime today. The short version is I did not get Splatoon 2 delivered yesterday, but I now get it for free. Thanks for sucking, Amazon Logistics. Not sarcasm. Thanks for sucking since I now get a free game.
I was so elated that Indivisible was announced for Switch that I almost preordered the Physical Collector's Edition bundle via Backerkit before a cooler head prevailed, and I thought, "Why the **** do I need that?" I can wait for the preorder to show up on Amazon. If the Collector's Edition is available then, great. If not, I can live with just the regular physical card on Switch and get my Prime discount.Without any assurances that the physical card will be more than a limited release, I pre-ordered the physical Indivisible bundle via Backerkit just in case (which I can always cancel). Unless it's a major release (e.g. Super Mario Odyssey) or currently the only way to get a physical copy of a game (e.g. Axiom Verge), I don't feel comfortable taking my chances on Amazon. This is a shame because I was a big champion of Amazon. It just let me down so spectacularly several times in a row.
Pretty happy about a purchase today: Captain Toad (Wii U) had always interested me, but was never something I managed to pick up.No joke, this is one of my fave games on the Wii U. I hope you like it!
Wow, that's crazy! I've never heard of then giving out that much for a simple shipping error, usually it's like $10. I wonder what made this one so much...Amazon charged me for Splatoon 2 yesterday so I'll get that sometime today. The short version is I did not get Splatoon 2 delivered yesterday, but I now get it for free. Thanks for sucking, Amazon Logistics. Not sarcasm. Thanks for sucking since I now get a free game.

Yesterday I got my physical version of Rive for PS4. Can't wait to play it.
Very cool you grabbed one of the physical copies though - can't imagine that's going to get a big print run.
I brought Player Unknown Battle Grounds a couple of weeks back and I can definitely recommend it; If you have friends to play it with, preferentially 3 other mates.
There is single man and pair modes but the real fun is when you coordinate with the team to pull off some really nice tactics. If you are crazy you can also play the team modes solo.
Like any other online game there are hackers but they seem pretty rare or at least not as brazen like one where they were very obviously using an aim bot wasting out team inside of 5 seconds.
One aspect of the game that can be a problem depending on how you view it is that the game discourages you fighting other players if you want to win. You do kill players to get loot that can make you stronger but most of the time this is pretty risky. Naturally the end game pushes you to engage but even then hiding is a massive part of it hoping other players detect each other first so there are less people for you to kill.
The one undeniable great thing is that the shotgun is a viable weapon unlike so many other games where they don't do enough damage or have such a ridiculous spread that reduces it to a melee weapon assuming it does enough damage in the first place. The best example of this is DOOM 3.
If you are in doubt, wait till it is 1.0.
On Monday I had some weird compulsion to go to my local used game store. Something in my head was telling me to go! Apparently I have some sort of clayvoiant powers because they had Mega Bomberman for the Genesis which I had been looking for for a while. They also had the Genesis four player adapter so how perfect was that? The multitap is in great shape. The box isn't sealed but it's essentially new. The cords still have twist ties around them!
Complaining is how I got the $10 to begin with. Your situation is pretty complicated though, so I guess that's why they decided to go above and beyond.Short version: I complained.Wow, that's crazy! Long version: ...
... and Popeye for the NES. Popeye is an interesting one because it's a rare game made by Nintendo (and Miyamoto as well) that uses licensed characters and thus cannot be re-released unless they re-obtained the rights. So if you want it you HAVE to get it on the NES.
...
I caved & got Splatoon 2. Got it digitally because I've come to the conclusion that some games I'm just going to be compelled to play more if I don't have to swap cartridges/discs."Caved"? Why did you not want it?

I just really wanted the chance to support Two Tribes one last time.
I just really wanted the chance to support Two Tribes one last time.
Is RIVE Two Tribes' last game? I thought the studio shut down already? Didn't realize Rive was being made by them; all the more reason to get this game.
Holy crystal coconuts! I can't believe I just scored a SNES Classic preorder from Best Buy! I haven't been this excited for a gaming purchase in quite some time. Looking forward to not having to blow on those dang cartridges and tilting them just right to get them to work.
Nice score! For what it's worth, I'm quite jealous. :)
(I've also given up hope at getting a system... which is pretty depressing since they haven't even gone on sale in Canada yet, but that's about where I'm at with Nintendo.)
---
Edit: So Canadian preorders went live at Best Buy and Amazon today. Found out 5 minutes before it happened, which seemed like good luck so gave it my best shot. Constant refresh until the page went live, got one in my cart immediately, but was denied at checkout because there was no stock available. If preorders can't even satisfy people who are aggressively trying to order within the first minute they go live, clearly I'm not getting one.
**** it. (Subtext: **** Nintendo.)
... Then there's the unfortunate issue of greed further increasing the demand and constraining supply. As more and more people see and hear of scalpers buying up multiple copies then they want to get in on that market and buy multiple copies to deny those that do want it in order to hopefully gouge them at a higher price and just make profit for themselves. ...

Do you remember when Wii U sold relatively well initially, but then had negative sales figures for a month or two as people hoping to scalp systems were actually returning more consoles than stores were selling?
I wonder if that experience impacted Nintendo's willingness to provide decent stock levels. (Although, as a consumer it doesn't really make things any better for me or help me feel better that Nintendo continues to get worse about meeting well-telegraphed demand for special items like this.)
Titanfall 2. This game is really solid.
I got Severed (Wii U/3DS Crossbuy)
That's a lot of Japanese games and Bomberman. Any story behind that?
Dang that's a crazy collection! Good point on N64 titles that require no reading skills like Mario Golf. Does a regular NTSC/PAL N64 just play Japanese cartridges outright? Do you have to break off a few pieces of plastic? If I recall correctly some Gamesharks could also fit import carts into them right?
... kept spewing it's discs out and turning itself off ...
Overwatch is on sale, so I picked that up for $20 on PC.
All of that?
Overwatch is on sale, so I picked that up for $20 on PC.
Nice! That game is evergreen fun to me. I've been playing it for over a year, it's like Rocket League in that it's a great game to binge OR to just jump in and play a match or two before moving onto something else.
So I got to open and play my SNES classic today! Was a nice blast from the past.
Received Mario Odyssey and the Resident Evil Revelations collection on Switch. Also got Metroid Returns on 3DS.
Two Neon Nintendo Switch consoles...one for each kid. The trifecta is complete now.

I picked up Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition on Switch and that game is so much better on the Switch than it was on the Wii U just by having stuff like being able to use controllers other than the gamepad for player 1 or having the murphy stages not reduce this wonderful platformer to a a fucking iOS game.I've always been saying that murphy stages are better with button controls.
I never played Origins so that's just more content for me.I picked up Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition on Switch and that game is so much better on the Switch than it was on the Wii U just by having stuff like being able to use controllers other than the gamepad for player 1 or having the murphy stages not reduce this wonderful platformer to a a fucking iOS game.I've always been saying that murphy stages are better with button controls.
That and Legends is wonderful for about half of a game and the rest are Rayman Origins levels that they copied into it.
The Rockstar Humble Bundle. If you have a decent PC (like it would be gaming quality 10 years ago), then this is a no-brainer. $15 gets you GTA 3, GTA 4, GTA San Andreas, GTA Vice City Stories, GTA Episodes from Liberty City, Bully, Max Payne, Max Payne 2, Max Payne 3, Manhunt, and LA Noire.
I pre-ordered the Super Mario Encyclopedia because I lack self-restraint.Sounds interesting. Is this a book (or books), or something else?
Sounds interesting. Is this a book (or books), or something else? It’s a book full of nerdy Mario history stuff, but it doesn’t have a cool special edition like the Zelda one that looks like an oversized NES cartridge. Here’s the Amazon pre-order page if you’re interested. (https://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-Encyclopedia-Nintendo/dp/1506708978)
... The Order 1886 ...Let us know how you like that game. I acquired it for "free" with PS Plus a little while ago but haven't downloaded it yet. It's a huge file, 30GB plus.
Far Cry 5. They said this is the biggest far cry map they have made.Don't leave me hanging.
I recently purchased Korg Gadget for the Switch. It's okay. Not as intuitive as Korg M01D for the 3DS, but that's more from a loss of touchscreen support in composition. I'll likely defer to M01D for planning out music, and then write it out in Gadget for the improvements in sound quality.Weird that they took out touch controls for Switch though. Why?? Can you somehow export the tunes by the way? Don't suppose it does MIDI from the USB ports on the dock haha, but maybe a share function? Or just gotta record it yourself over the headphone out?
Pinball FX3 had a major performance update yesterday and i think they added vertical mode in that patch too.
I really liked Pinball FX on 3DS, especially Excalubur table on it. I liked it so much i bought that table on 360, Steam and Wii U.
I have that Zen Pinball 2 on Wii U still, which table(s) would you recommend besides Excalibur? Or is that the one you like best?I just really like that table personally.
I downloaded a few demo tables once but they're kinda short so it's hard to gauge which will be fun longterm.Pinball FX on Switch gives Sorcerer's Lair table for free. It's pretty decent too.
The only ay to share music is via Switch to Switch connection- not exporting options of any kind. That’s kind of the final nail in the coffin for the game and the reason I can’t recommend it to anyone.
Someone on resetera wrote a long recommendation post (https://www.resetera.com/posts/7556903/) for tables so consult it if you want.
Bought the Amazon Basics Switch Case (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B073486QF5/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s02?ie=UTF8&th=1) for $3.91 as a bundle add-on. Its pretty solid build and the inside fits the switch perfectly. No wiggle room, and the sleeve w/ pockets for extra games is very nice. Glad I picked this up.
... I just didn't think they were that hard to find but then I haven't been actively looking for one or keeping up with the news on them.
So I'm an idiot. I just ordered a PS4 pro for Spider-Man. I ordered a $550au system for one damn game. This damn well better be an amazing game Insomniac.
Well, at least if it isn't then you've got a great exclusive backlog to dig into. Let me know if you'd like any recommendations.
Take comfort from the fact that amount of money would only buy half a graphics card right now.
Snagged a Nintendo NES Classic Edition. I have an 8bitdo N30 2.4G wireless controller on the way. I’ve barely played the SNES Classic Edition so I think I just bought the NES Classic Edition mostly to have it.
The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes (3DS)I'm fortunate to have friends to play the game, but it does have an unfortunate amount of restrictions and I can't really blame people if that ruined the game for them. For me, it's one of my fave 3DS games and was a refreshing take on Zelda.
I'm hesitant about this game.
Just gotta peel myself away from my Monster Hunter addiction to play something different...We're doomed.
If you need a third, I need to get more mileage out of my copy. Just gotta peel myself away from my Monster Hunter addiction to play something different...
Tri Force Heroes is the only Zelda game I haven’t purchased or played. I liked Four Swords. It’s okay single-player, but multiplayer is where the game really shines. I imagine the same applies to Tri Force Heroes. The requirements of needing two other people is just too much for me. I can’t wrangle that many people to one place/time unless we’re not playing video games, and even then it gets dicey. Almost everyone I know is too busy making kids. And you weren't interested in trying it online?
Just gotta peel myself away from my Monster Hunter addiction to play something different...We're doomed.
If you want to play Tri-Force Heroes online, I'm willing to play with you. It's one game I've been wanting to tackle for awhile now along with Federation Force. I've already started planning on some Federation Force online action with Pokepal148 and Mop it up in the Matchmaking thread but I'd also be willing to start getting into Tri-Force Heroes as well. We can work out some times to meet up and play interested.
In addition, from this list here, you'll see that I know have Triforce Heroes and Federation Force. After telling me I need to get more co-op games and do more online multiplayer, here's the chance to help me do just that.
I'm game for Triforce Heroes. I still need to pick up Federation Force, so I'll do that this Spring/Summer to play with you guys as well...so long as Breath of the Wild lets me come up for air. That game is really keeping me hooked. Only other game that has been able to tear me away is my custom hack of FE6 as I have begun dabbling in rom hacks.
I'm game for some Tri-Force Heroes. Though I will have to tear myself away from BotW to do it. Might be a nice change of pace.
I'm disappointed that Black Friday went by and nobody posted any bragging stories about the awesome deals they found. C'mon everyone - I need to live vicariously through you!It seemed like pretty lame deals this year, I didn't really see anything interesting.

Well, Black Friday may have been lame, but I ended up scoring a few good Cyber Monday deals. Assuming the postal service doesn't deliver to the wrong place as they often do around this time of year, I'll have these coming to me for Switch:
Valkyria Chronicles 4: $16
Mega Man X Collection Collection: $12
Overcooked! 2: $8
Mega Man Legacy Collection Collection: $4
Street Fighter 30th Anniversary: $4

I bought two things that kind of go together. First, I bought a red Joy-Con R to go with the blue Hori Joy-Con with a d-pad I have on the other side. And second, since that means I now have two full pairs of Joy-Cons that aren't connected to my Switch, I bought a charging stand that holds four of them to keep them ready for when I have people over. There are a few different models of these out there, but I bought the PowerA model and it seems to be working well so far.
Why would they take it back? If worked at a shop and someone tried to give back a item like you did I would refuse or at least go "what?". I am not even sure what the paperwork for that is.
While your attempt at honesty is admirable it wasn't like you picked up a wallet with identifying elements. Gift it to someone for Christmas and send money to that gaming charity for sick kids, don't send the game.
In general, though you’re not legally obligated to tell the seller, if your conscience is pushing you in that direction, the FTC suggests that you notify the seller and offer to return the merchandise, so long as the seller is the one who will pay for all of the return shipping.
I'd been using the HORI left Joy-Con with the D-Pad for a while, but for my birthday last week I got a real Joy-Con modded with a D-Pad. It's nice to be able to use it with my FlipGrip and on its own detached from the system when necessary.

A tertiary search tells me wiping it down with vinegar or leaving it outside on a dry day can help.

I also pre-ordered Trials of Mana just in case. I feel like it’ll only be fun multiplayer so I may cancel it.Trials of Mana doesn't have multiplayer, though maybe it could be added later in a patch.
Seriously? Wasn't that the draw of the original?
Trials of Mana didn’t get officially translated until the collection that released last month. I can’t speak for others, but the draw for me was that it’s the follow up to one of the better multiplayer SNES games (though apparently not a narrative sequel?) and one of the best looking games of its time. It holds up pretty well graphically.Seriously? Wasn't that the draw of the original?I thought it was supposed to be the high quality translation work and attention to story-telling?
(But haven't played the game, obviously.)
Latest gaming purchase: My Genesis Mini console just shipped and is apparently supposed to arrive this week. However, the local carrier is notoriously around here for not being reliable... so keeping my fingers crossed. Would love to be playing a bunch of classic games over the weekend!Amazon has Monday as my delivery date, most likely because I have most shipments sent to my employer with no weekend deliveries. I’m eager to try some of the games, and let’s face it, I probably wasn’t going to play it this weekend anyway.
* Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins - lots of nostalgia for this one, and not sure how it will hold up so many years later... used to be my favorite Game Boy game
*
...
I'm wondering how Wario Land 1 holds up now though. I played it so many times as a kid cause I wanted to collect enough gold to get the castle, but I haven't played it since then.
I just received The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Sega Genesis Mini, and the Snake Amiibo from Amazon. I wasn’t supposed to get the latter two until next week. I’ll take it.
Well, I'm back from a bit of vacation so all you spambots better watch out. Didn't do much purchasing although I did happen to snag a little something for $60.00.

Your Xbox One collection isn't going to be worth much if all the "physical" games you bought need patches that are no longer available to make them worth playing.

The real value will be the HDD of the system that has all the necessary patches. I also imagine this will be the case for games that were pulled from digital shops (Ducktales Remastered).
Nobody buying games during the Black Friday sales?
I looked at a bunch; the 50% on many 3DS Atlus games was tempting, but in the end I settled with Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon (3DS eShop) as my holiday purchase. Nothing says Thanks like a return to classic Castlevania-styled action.
I got a Hori Split Pad Pro over the weekend, and so far I'm very happy with it. I almost exclusively play my Switch in handheld mode, and these are a lot more comfortable than Joy-Cons, with better sticks and a real D-Pad. If you spend a lot of time in handheld mode I highly recommend getting these.

Do you have to take it off in order to slide it into the dock? Lately i've been playing mostly handheld, there's definitely a cramp factor to holding the switch for longer than an hour.

Picking up a few digital purchases myself:
3DS VC - , Kirby's Star Stacker
I picked up Astral Chain the other day and I am enjoying it. It feels like a 1 player co-op game with the mechanics of the Legion and your character working in tandem together. I only have the Sword Legion so far but I have seen some gameplay of the other Legions and each provides a different style of play and when used in conjunction with each other it should be fun. Also the art style is beautiful.
I actually have since I have a nice yellow Switch Lite and only that. You use the left analog stick to move your character and you can bring out your Legion with the tap of the ZL button. Hold ZL and then move the analog stick to send your Legion to a general area by the enemy. Your Legion will attack when by a foe. The ZR button if for your own attack and bringing yourself to your Legion. The R button makes the Legion go away. Good for saving the Legion from a hit or if your Legion has been out too long. There is a tutorial early on and you can practice the moves and also the combat in the main hub for the game any time you want.I picked up Astral Chain the other day and I am enjoying it. Nice! Have you played in handheld mode/on a Lite Switch by any chance? I want to get this game still, provided it's doable in portable mode.

There's a pretty good sale on the PlayStation Store so I bought the following:I bought Odin Sphere on PS2 when it first released in 2007/2008. I'm going to humor myself and try to make an effort to actually play it this time.
- Odin Sphere Leifthrasir ($17.99; this almost never goes on sale)
- Resident Evil 3 ($19.79) + Classic Costume DLC ($2.99)
- Uncharted 4: A Thief's End ($9.99)
The Leifthrasir version of Odin Sphere is excellent. I hated Odin Sphere back on PS2, but they made a ton of tweaks to the gameplay and progression (not to mention framerate) that makes the modern version SO Much better. Very much recommended.LOL. I bought Odin Sphere Leifthrasir because you recommended it. 👍 The game wouldn’t have been on my radar to double-dip. I did wait for a sub-$20 sale.
Unfortunately, a problem occurred during shipping and we had to cancel your delivery. The package is being returned, and we will issue a refund within 3 - 5 business days after the return is processed. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience.I still want the book so I logged onto Amazon and ordered it again so I’ll presumably get it on Thursday now. I’m baffled that Amazon, a website that started as an online bookstore, assumed I didn’t want a book I preordered months ago because of a supposed shipping problem and issued a refund instead of just delaying delivery by a few days.
Jane is still waiting on those movie recommendations Khush ;)
That's quite a haul for only a few months! But, why Superman 64? Like, why? WHY!
I imagine at least partially as a badge of honor for owning something that is universally panned like why people watch Tommy Wiseau’s “The Room”.
Really? I thought that was kinda fun when I played it at a friend's house as a kid. Or was there a PSX version that was better?I don't know what other versions of the game are like, though the original PC version of the game had a decent reception so maybe it's like that one. Then again, there were also some people who liked Superman 64, so... uh...
While walking around in the book store i found Russian translation of Volume 4 of Floran Gorge's "History of Nintendo", the one about Gameboy.
I already bought first 2 volumes in English and while content-wise they were great -- binding on those was super filmsy, it started to fall apart right in my hands as i was reading it.
This Russian edition already feels way more robust so there is that at least, but reading reviews i found complaints about bad translation? Whatever i just want the full set. Volume 3 was sold out in that store but i set up alerts if they restock it.
