I guess its disappointing but to be expected. Most of their multiplayer focused games lack a solid single player experience.

Still I can see how the game would be super fun with friends, I might have to pick up some additional remotes for my roommates and see if I can get some local MP going on if that is a supported feature.

Man, I have had no luck in the Warehouse at all. Or maybe the NZAP 85 isn't working out for me. Oh, but I just love using the Echolocator for the team.

From my rough times in the warehouse, I'm getting a sinking feeling for Team Pirates.

Fear not. Despite dropping the popularity 72-28, Team Pirates still won 382-318 (battles 59-41);

I dunno what it says about the ninjas, but *I* went 31-17 today to hit Queen.

I played way too many matches against my ninja comrades. I chalked it up to playing just after midnight but I guess it wasn't to be. I got to champion and stopped.

New gear has been added, which will appear in the in-game shop at random.
Ranked Match Results Pages
Adjustments:
Changed the display of the results screen in Ranked Battle. Players will be listed in the order of their winning percentages in the last 10 matches for the current mode (Wins - Losses).
Previously, players were listed in the order of the number of enemies they splatted. This adjustment was made since there are other ways to contribute to the team's victory that cannot be measured in numerical terms.
The winning percentage will not be recorded in Regular Battle, Splatfest, Squad Battle, and Private Battle, so the results page will remain the same.
When the users' Ranks go up, the winning percentage will be reset.
Battle Adjustments
Fixed the issue in which the blasts from Blaster weapons don't quite reach the opponent even though the direct hit marker (x) is displayed while taking aim.
Adjusted the amount of damage that rollers inflict when rolling over Splash Shields to match the amount of damage they inflict when rolling over opponents.
Adjustments were made in Tower Control so that Sprinklers placed on the towers break when they hit the ground (The Sprinklers previously only broke if they were placed on the ground and were hit by the towers)
Other
Adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.

I put it down for a couple months to play other stuff, but binged pretty hard in November/early December and have been playing it periodically since. According to a couple of the devs the map/weapon updates will come to an end after January and it doesn't sound like paid DLC is in the cards (though Splatfests will continue), so we'll see how the userbase holds up. Given how well it sold, I'm optimistic.

I finally figured out how to connect my game consoles to my phones WiFi. But there is a downside, I used up all my data downloading updates in the first day so now I am stuck with 2G speeds. I am not sure but I think this might be too slow to attempt playing online or is this the minimum speed for online? I haven't tried yet but does anyone have experience playing online in that scenario? Is it doable or will it be unplayable? I will be moving to town shortly but there is a good chance I won't be able to afford internet at the house for another few months.

That's probably too slow. I've been able to play Mario Kart 8 with 3G speeds with only short bursts of lag, but it's probably not optimal anyway. I can't imagine being able to do anything in Splatoon.

I brought my console to parents' house on New Year so that my nephew could play some games.

Seeing him playing Splatoon for the first time and picking it up right away was joyful.

Also i think online population during holidays was much worse (in playing skill) than usual -- probably an influx of similar children playing. This made playing Splatoon enjoyable for me as well during these days. Usually i just play a few rounds, get my ass kicked and put it away for a few more months.

Yes. You squad up with other players from your Wii U friend list, so you can have 2, 3, or 4 players, and you're always teamed up. The problem is, you play with only other squads, so sometimes it can take a bit to find a match (you go back to the lobby every match instead of staying with the same players until you/they quit). If you have 2 people then another 2 squad will join your team, and you'll face a team of two 2-squads. If you have a full squad of 4 players, you will face another full 4 squad, or... unfortunately, the 3-squads are mixed in with the 4s, so if you have only three players then you'll face a lot of 4s and it'll always be tough.

Another thing is that your ranks don't matter as much in finding opponents. It will attempt to match you with squads of similar ranks to yours, but if it does not find any, it will match you with whoever it can find. This means that even back when I started out as a C-, I still ran into A and S players. So the competition is way more fierce than any other mode, which stinks, but oh well. It's the only way I can team with friends, so it can still be fun.

Too bad that it couldn't play similarly to COD where you can 'group up' with your friends and then get matched as a group to open games, guaranteeing you are all on the same team.
