That looks great, imo. A nice, sci-fi romp. I'm all in.

Yeah, looks neat, agree music is meh, but trailer music is rarely indicative of the final product. And why is BatMan a fascist? Did I miss something about that or were they trying to be funny because "LOL billionaire bad"?

Batman was sort of made to have fascistic qualities in the Frank Miller run. He is a vigilante who enforces the law using violence. He's also a rich guy, and the villains are usually poor people. Though you would only know he's a rich guy from our omnipresent observer perspective. Though Mr. Reese figured out what Wayne Enterprises was spending its black fund on in The Dark Knight. Another thing that could be said about a rich guy enforcing Gotham law is, the law in Gotham is corrupt. Even good cops like Jim Gordan turn a blind eye to a guy in a Bat suit beating up poor people.

In the case of the Blue Beetle trailer, it was just a low blow.

I think the label still fits without knowing that Batman is or is funded by a billionaire. He's upholding the law using hyper-violence, coming just shy of killing his targets. He's a cop on steroids who looks more like he's helping an incompetent police force by acting outside the law than overcoming department corruption.

I'm with Perm, the music in that trailer was taking me out of it a bit. The suit's ok to me too. Something just feels a bit off, but it's still comic-book-y.

I had started reading the Jamie Reyes Blue Beetle at some point, but I've completely forgotten what was going on. I might have to go back and take a look.

Yikes. How long until it's officially canceled?

Movies & TV / Re: Rate the last movie you've seen

I finally saw Marriage Story, the 2019 Netflix Oscar-bait film about a divorce. The acting is fantastic here. Adam Driver and ScarJo put on some amazing performances. They're both also given a song and dance number to really sell that the two are acting in this movie. However, those scenes are clearly there just for that reason.

Aside from that, I completely hated the movie. The feelings it left me with were almost all entirely negative. No character felt like they went through a meaningful arc. The story itself was utterly unsatisfying. And I'm not sure what I'm supposed to walk away with at the end. That divorce is bad? Not a new concept! That lawyers are evil? That's also an old trope! I wouldn't watch this again and can't recommend it.

4.5/10

I agree that it is the finest Nintendo game ever made.

I would say that it even meets RFN's high bar of being significant.

I'd like to see Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire. As a fan of pinball and Pokémon, I'm a bit upset I never owned this and only got to play it a tiny bit. I think it was out on the Wii U as well, but I didn't get it then either.

I'll also add Tetris Blast. It was called Super Bombliss in Japan. I don't think it ever got re-released. I liked it a lot. It's Tetris but with bombs. There's even a boss battle mode where the bossed float around the matrix and you have to trap them and blow them up. I really liked it as a kid.

If the league gets him for having the gun on the team plane, we can upgrade him to two steps past that.

We see a lot of Rainbow Road in the trailers/posters. I assume they need it to get to Bowser's castle or something toward the movie's end.

How bad could it have possibly been? Like, Catwoman bad? Or WW84 bad?

The Flash trailer looks. . .sigh . . . pretty good. I guess if they got the big cameo, they weren't gonna scrap it.

These games (Fire Red and Leaf Green) are faithful to the original Red and Blue to a degree we won't see again for pokemon remakes for a long time. It is to the point where the game actively prevents you from evolving certain pokemon like Chansey and Golbat even if you meet the criteria to do so until the postgame. To be clear, Blissey and Crobat exist in the game. The games just refuse to let you have them until it arbitrarily decides you can.

It's funny you mention that because the Let's Go games are very similar in that regard. Any new evolution simply doesn't exist (Rhyperior, Tangrowth, Umbreon, etc.) in those games, which feels very weird. I would've hoped FRLG would've been the last games to be overly faithful, though, at the time, I don't think I minded too much. BDSP's dedication to faithfulness to the original was criminal.
It sucked that BDSP weren't willing to do more, but IMO BDSP benefited from being a remake of a significantly better set of games.

True. But even though Gen IV was my favorite, I wasn't super inspired to finish everything in BDSP because of the lack of ambition.

Then Arceus came out and took all my attention away. Though that game suffered a tiny bit because I had just adventured around with these Pokémon. But the game felt so fresh and different regardless.

I saw a tweet mentioning that Westbrook didn't hug LeBron after he broke the scoring record. Which, I mean, can you blame him?

I saw a video of AD sitting on the bench, and uninterested in Lebron breaking the record.
But AD really didn't seem into the game at all.

That's par for the AD course though. It's why Pels fans don't miss him much.

Is Origins "1" and the first Baten Kaitos "2"? The presentation kept saying "1 & 2" but I only ever thought of the games as "1 and prequel".

"Baten Kaitos Origins" is the NA name for Baten Kaitos 2, since the game is a prequel taking place decades before the 1st game with a new cast. Considering they seem to be scraping the original NA localizations in these remasters, I wouldn't be surprised if BKO got its original name back.

If they are re-localizing BKO, I wonder if Giacomo's fight song will still be censored. The song had lyrics referencing Christianity and God, but NoA ordered the song re-edited to just have the singer repeatedly chant "hey!" over those parts of the song.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the explainer. Weird they would call the prequel "2" but who am I to judge JRPG naming conventions?

Anything for the forum folks.

Pokémon is notably absent.

They showed the TCG Gameboy game as coming soon. I know some fans are expecting the GBA games to be announced during Pokémon Day, but I'm not so sure.

I do hope they do something with the GB games and find a way to link them to Home and Stadium.

2. Advanced Wars ReBootCamp is slotted into the release calendar at the last minute to fill a gap.

Nailed it.

6. Metroid happens in trailer form only.

I meant Metroid Prime 4, but I should've specified. Oh well. I'll take the loss.

9. Two HD GameCube ports are announced this year.

I also meant at least two, but since I didn't say two exactly, this is a win for me.

10. Pikmin 4 does not come out.

I only said this so that it would come out. It worked. You're welcome.

The list of games having so many $50 titles makes the deal pretty underwhelming. There are also a lot of games I already own.

Bayonetta Origins is a good one for this though. If Zelda TotK gets added, that might push me over.

The idea of Netflix just annoying people into getting their own accounts is hilarious.

48
So, the 31-day rule is a trial they're running in Latin American countries, and US users will be put on a verification code system.

This is still a stupid plan created by bad management. They're consistently struggling to add value to Netflix while actively decreasing the value of a subscription. You still can't really invest in a TV show without worrying that it'll be canceled before it gets a second season.

I assume Netflix will run up such a debt that they'll have to file for bankruptcy and be bought by Apple or something. They produce too many shows.

They're in pretty decent shape financially, from quick browsing of their financials. But if they end up broadly rolling out the 31-day lock-out timer, I suspect the subscriber numbers will drop about 45 days afterward, which would likely tank their stock.

If there's still time I'll drop mine:
  • No new console announcement.
  • Advanced Wars ReBootCamp is slotted into the release calendar at the last minute to fill a gap.
  • Zelda:TotK-specific Direct shows off the game and previews DLC.
  • Two rounds of Pokemon SV DLC.
  • Detective Pikachu 2 is finally talked about again.
  • Metroid happens in trailer form only.
  • Rhythm Heaven comes to Switch as this year's party game.
  • I'm thinking there's a non-Mario, Mushroom Kingdom resident starring game coming out soon, but announced this year.
  • Two HD GameCube ports are announced this year.
  • Pikmin 4 does not come out.
