Title: I think some forums are a little underutilized.
Post by: Phil on January 23, 2015, 12:16:34 AM
Hello.

I don't see the Gameplay Strategy and Hardware & Wi-Fi Support forums get much activity, and I didn't know if this made the entire NWR forums feel dead. Could questions relating to these two subjects not just be placed in Nintendo Console Gaming, Nintendo Handheld Gaming, or General Gaming? I think it would tidy the forums up, and make NWR look more inviting instead of looking weak in activity at certain portions of the site.

Sorry if this is not a smart idea. I apologize if it is!

I don't think it's really a problem. It's nice to have specific areas for certain topics, and not every section needs to be really active all the time.

Maybe we can convert one to the Movie forum I was suggesting? (I volunteer to moderate it).

I've been meaning to post a general gameplay guide for Captain Toad's final post-game level: Mummy Me Maze Forever. But yeah.

The two of them could probably be combined at least.

So make it a more general "Help" forum? That could work.

Here's a question: why do we still have the friend code child boards?

See, now that's a valid question. Since they killed the Wi-Fi Connection, literally every post on those sections is irrelevant.

Just like the Funhouse, every post in that section is an irrelevant Khushrenada thread... :)

Just kidding, Khushy, you know we love you. ;)

Yeah, plus the NWR March Madness board is still there. Or is that because there will be another one this year?

I take no offense to that statement. It sounds pretty accurate to me.  I was going to suggest making a "Best of Khushrenada" forum but then I realized we've got the Mafia Forum and Funhouse forum which are already serving that purpose so I just threw out the Movie Forum idea instead.

But let's face it. We all know that every thread on this forum is irrelevant UNLESS I've posted in it or made the thread. I don't say that because of ego. It's just an NWR Forum Fact.

As I said in the Funhouse, I've gone and made the friend code sections inaccessible to regular users, so no one has to be subject to Pokepal's terrible attempts at trolling ever again.

What were those attempts at trolling anyways? When I saw he posted that, I checked out those forums but saw nothing. I knew it probably wasn't as great as he was promoting but I was still curious to see what his definition of trolling was.

I just wanted to make some friends. Is there anything wrong with that?

Yeah, I wouldn't call that trolling. Just attempting humour.

"Attempting" in the same sense as someone without arms attempting to swim the English Channel.

You call this inaccessible? There ain't no forum code that can stop Khushrenada!
I can't post in the forums, but I can still read them. I think they are not visible if I log out, though, so it may just be logged in users who can see them.

Sorry, that was a bad way to say that. I just meant I agreed with it more. I'm glad people are making suggestions and asking questions even if I don't always agree, as it helps make this site better.

Is that why the March Madness board is still there? Because no one could figure out how to hide it? Or is it because there will be a new one this year and I'm spoiling the surprise?

I think it's more like nobody thought to hide it. These things aren't hurting anything by being there, they're just obsolete.

Like the position of NWR Community Manager!

Oh man. I swear nowadays you are just setting yourself on purpose for me to come along and burn you.

I mean, if I don't go out of my way to give you those chances you'll get frustrated by your constant failures and then the forums would lose another regular poster.

I actually like having both of these forums I rarely use either of them but the rare occasion I have I was glad they existed. Its been a while but I did find some useful info there a while back.

I think you should learn to use grammar and make an attempt at making your posts understandable.

What chance in hell does anyone have to comprehend your outpourings?

So, here's an odd thing. Just banned this spambot that showed up. It was rather obvious with this bumped thread and a nonsensical posting in the Console forum. However, I couldn't help but laugh at a spambot seemingly pissing on MMF2012's spelling and grammar considering The Rat's history on this forum and the fact that the majority of spambot posts are terrible rendition of spelling and grammar. But apparently The Rat's posting are even below their incredibly subpar standards.

And yes, technically, the spambot could be replying to anybody in this thread and is most likely meant to be responding to the OP (Phil) for this topic but the fact that it comes right after MMF2012's post just makes it read like it is directed at him and makes for a much better narrative. Thanks spambot for actually contributing a bit to this forum. You get to keep a post.

That is a little funny.

BUt back to serious business here....

Is there no way to fix the post editing glitch that requires you to click that "remove formatting" button otherwise the forum will automatically add all sorts of size tags and who knows whatelse?

Is there new update to this software? or a new better forum software to use that is no more expensive (or just as free) as this one?

I know there's not really that much traffic here, but that is a looooong standing glitch that's never been addressed, and makes editing post problematic if you forget to click that button and you have to paste in anything new.
