General Chat / Re: So... The Brave and the Bold?
« on: February 13, 2009, 12:48:54 PM »
I think what too many people are missing is that, although the series is a more light hearted take on The Bat, Batman, for the most part, still plays the straightman in the show.  Aside from his batter with Green Arrow, Batman is usually composed and always evaluating the situation.  SO he's not dark, gritty and doesn't talk like two cheese graiters being rubbed together. He's still the World's Greatest Detective because he knows when to let the SuperHero shine and he knows when he needs to step up to the plate.

And anyone who doesn't think lightheartedness works with Batman needs to go back and watch TAS episodes with Harly.  Oh, who created her?

I was thinking the SKUs would come in an assortment - like a case of six with two of each type of pack similar to how the colored Wii Remote gloves or, say, action figures come in. Retailers would devote the same amout of shelf space for the assortment as they would the individual item.

Ian, you're 100% wrong.  The Wii has proven it can handle similar DLC (Hudson's Karaoke game). The Wii has proven it can directly load data from an SD card to use during game play (Excite Truck loading MP3s, Brawl). The Wii has proven it can handle online play for similar games (Guitar Hero 3). The Wii has proven it can handle custom character creation (Miis).

Now, granted, EA/Harminox probably went lazy and ported the PS2 version instead of the PS3/360 versions because the Wii is "gimped" and it is easier to port up than port down.  However, it was, quite frankly, done this way because it was easier.  EA wanted the game out on Wii ASAP, so they went the fastest, easiest route to get it out.

It has next to nothing to do with the power of the Wii. Wii has above-standard ports of other PS2 and 360 games from other publishers.

It's no wonder Take2 doesn't want to sell to EA.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Nintendo needs to make a Nunchuck pack-in game!
« on: April 06, 2008, 04:13:08 PM »
$250 Wii+$50Wii Play + $20 Nunchuck is still $30 cheaper than subbing a $50 game/nunchuck combo.

Besides - I have two nunchucks and have rarely used my second one. The buy-in price for the Wii gets higher and higher with every additional thing you try to add on.  As a sales person, I aim for a Wii and a Wii Play. This keeps the initial buy-in around $300 (still in most casual buyer's comfort zone), gives them 14 games to mess around with (although I am honest and tell them most of Wii Play isn't that exciting) and everything they need to get the most out of their initial buy-in except 2-player Wii Boxing.

Keep in mind, when someone who's just heard about the Wii comes in to get one, their friend told them "it's only $250". Their friend didn't mention how much all the accessories were. Overwhelm them too much and they back out of the sale.

NWR Feedback / Re: Should points be significant? POLL INSIDE
« on: February 26, 2008, 05:47:27 PM »
Perhaps points should only apply to stuff done in the funhouse?  Since most casual posters avoid the funhouse, the more community-driven members will know that the points don't really mean much of anything.

I strongly disagree with the idea of points giving access to various features, as then you'll have people crying for points so they can put crappy images in their signatures or something. Likewise, I'm not keen on rewarding people for the quantity of their posts... Just quality. SPAM shouldn't be rewarded.

And, finally, if points are clutter, so are avatars, signatures and titles... Can we get rid of those too? :)

TalkBack / Re: EA Wants Take-Two Before GTA IV Ships
« on: February 25, 2008, 03:32:43 PM »
Let's pretend EA did buy out TakeTwo and made their own system -with all their titles being exclsusive.

Nintendo would survive. They survived without any real EA/T2 support with the N64, GameCube, GBA and DS - and to some level, on the Wii.  Would Sony and MicroSoft fare as well?

I want my INTV.  Seriously, why haven't we seen Atari and Intellivision games yet? I know the current holder for the Intellivision properties has expressed interest in offering their games theough the various download services (Wii included).  What's the hold up? External storage?

Good news everyone!
I've found an office building that rents out its basement. It's got seaperate bathrooms, a kitchen (stove, microwave, fridge) and moveable partiton/walls. I'm going tomorrow to check it out (I'll take some  pics) and make sure it'll work, but my wife has catered there before and says it should work well. Although, as usual, I'm strapped for cash, it's apparently only $50, even for a noon-to-noon rental overnight.  This is gonna be loads of fun. And loads of Faceball.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:How many players?
« on: December 27, 2007, 10:36:39 AM »
Yep, it is.  One Wii remote and One GCN controller and three more of each of them in some combination.

And this is what got me wondering... Could we have some kind of crazy-ass multi-player Bomberman?  Granted, it would suck on a smaller TV, but if you had a decently large TV, it could be pretty fun.

I still want my 1,000 player on-line Bomberman... That would be great fun.

Bomberman is and should always be bombs, mazes and items. The more, the better.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:So, is the Wii Zapper worth getting?
« on: December 26, 2007, 12:14:37 PM »
Limited resources isn't about making a game more tedious, it's about forcing you to think differently - yeah, it's easier to throw a bomb or shoot an arrow to kill an enemy from a distance, but if you have a very limited supply of bomb and arrows, you'll be looking for another way to dispatch the enemies to conserve your supplies.  It'll cause you to rethink puzzles as well... Sure, I can just shoot arrows at targets endlessly instead of trying to figure out what order I'm supposed to hit them in... Or instead of actually trying to improve my aim and hitting the target the first time, I can just rapidly fire off 10 shots and hope one gets it...

I have started to warm up to Nebraska. There's a store called "Gamers" here... I like it.  They had boxed Intellivision games for 94 cents.

Apparently, there are 3 here in Omaha... I need to find the other two...

I was... You may notice that I'm using my mobile Bob account... I'm stuck mobile browsing for now (could browse on my DS, but they want $5/day for that).

Scary thing is that I posted that *while* driving.

Anywhoo, so far, Nebraska ain't all some people would have you believe.  No one met me at the border with Little Debbies (snack cakes or hot young girls). In fact, the only thing that met me at the border was rain and thunder.

Saw a game store I hope to get to check out tommrow though...

I'm about 100 miles away from the border, just now coming into Iowa.  I'll be coming in on I-80 West. It's been a long drive, so they better be tasty Little Debbies (soundslike something Bill would say)...
