I was out picking up Endless Ocean yesterday(which was a bitch to find too) and out of curiosity I checked on NMH at all of the Gamestops I went to and NO ONE had this game in stock. Definitely crazy. Glad it's getting some attention similar to Z&W, but unlike Capcom, hopefully Ubisoft starts supplying the market with more NMH.

The game supports widescreen.

It's just a sad truth that widescreen HDTVs inherently screw up the display of widescreen sources cuz industry manufacturers can't agree on a "standard" set of specs.

It's just a fact that so-called HDTVs poorly handle 50+ years of "standard definition" content.  Claiming superior technology without providing a more seamless transition from the previous formats is crap.

You don't visit IGN, Gamefaqs and some other websites enough...

Seriously, the game is plastered everywhere on those sites.

Its far more than what Capcom did for Zak and Wiki.

Been playing it: it's good.

It has Suda's weirdness to it, but this time the gameplay is immediately fun AND we get a cutscene right off the bat explaining what's happening.

Got to 9th rank so far after just playing for about an hour and half.  Must say I am enjoying the game more than I expected to.

PLayed last night
Which setting is harder.... sweet or mild ?
the game can look butt fugly at points, but it made me saw wow on several occasions due to the adult factor.
He did not just do that and say" if i get to number one, will you do me.....once?"

I didn't see a "bitter" option, either...

Was that available?

I figured.

I don't have nearly the time to get perfect scores in everything (or even replay games) these days, but I MIGHT try it on Bitter after I beat it.

I was going to try and resist playing this until I finished my tests early next week, but I figured a little play wouldn't hurt, so I went ahead and got the game...It's a bit buggy, and the controls are a bit wonky every once in a while, but overall it has been great...

Spoilers up through Rankings Fight for #8:

~ Silvia's a bitch...And she's bloody weird when she calls you right before a boss battle...She gets negative points...
~ Naomi, on the other hand...I wish she had more lines, because her little dialogue oozes with character...
~ The answering machine message from BeefHead about the tape with "a man humping a pillow" was bloody brilliant...I couldn't stop laughing... ='D
~ Shinobu has been my favorite battle by far...Except when she raped me with that one 20 second long attack that had her teleporting all around me...That hurt... =(
~ I also found it amusing that she used battojutsu...Being a Rurouni Kenshin fan, that was a nice treat...
~ Oh yeah, and I'm glad that TT didn't kill Shinobu (showing a rare, tasteful side of Suda), but then again, I guess I shouldn't assume that I won't fight her again and kill her later....

I think I'll do an in-depth review of it later...

The game is great, but mostly for the boss combat and unique stage design.  The "Hub" overworld with the buried money, Lovikov's Balls, and various all over the map you have to visit is pretty dull.  There's nothing to do but go from place to place to place and earn money.  It would be better if there were actually something going on in the city, like random assassins trying to take you out for your rank or something, or perhaps a robot policeman that wonders around at mercilessly attacks you because you're a killer.  Just something to liven up the town.  You should be able to kill people on the streets, too, just because you should be able to.

However, after you collect the random things found in dumpsters, the balls, the buried money, and figure out how not to flip your bike over, you'll spend a whole lot less time in the hub city, and more time doing the jobs, missions, and actual stages, and the game immediately gets better.  Also, getting the "Dash" ability helps, since you can dash a whole lot faster than you can run.

Wait a second, I just watched the newest trailer for No More Heroes and I don't get why you guys are so hyped for it? From what I seen of the gameplay footage it looks like it has a ton of technical issues, especially a horrible framerate, jerky animations, and more, it just didn't look like it played smoothly.

Quote

You've basically shown us that you believe an EFFING INTERNET TRAILER particularly one that I didn't encode accurately reflects the quality of the final game, in-person, in-motion.

The newest trailer is pretty sh!tee.  Poorly processed, and generally poorly encoded, which is pretty typical by turn-of-the-millenium standards.

Since you're that easy to fool, I can't find you credible, and not many others should either.

::whistles:: Oh no I just didn't!

ANYWAY. The game is fun, though many of its technical issues bother me along with the overworld. But the boss fights are great.

Better that she mentions the technical issues after really playing the game than by watching GooTube.  Though I thought she doesn't like video games, especially Suda51's games.  Not sure why she bought it.  She certainly didn't get a PS3 for its next-gen line-up.

In any case, No More Heroes competes with Geist in the framerate department.
