The N64 is version is showing footage without the expansion pack. I can tell. This game has a HUGE difference when using the expansion pack. Looks 10 times cleaner.

I promised myself I wouldn’t do this as much as I’m catching up on episodes but hearing someone say “I’m struggling to find the fun value” in resident evil 4 hurts my soul so much. So much. This game imo is still a masterpiece. Love the Wii version still.

GUI dumping on crash was fun though.

Great show guys. I know for a fact that Greg gets annoyed by my post but i meant what i said about loving the personalities. I mean god I've listened to about 99% of all the pod cast from you guys and Greg you have been from day one my favorite podcaster ever and still to this day and i mean that 100%. For what it's worth.

i got behind on your show due to personal things and work so i listened to about 13/14 episodes back to back and that was the genesis of my post and email as listening/watching something that much back to back highlights somethings that otherwise probably wouldn't bother enough to mention it.

All my "negative" post back to back on the forums annoying as they were could be taken as an analogy of what i went through with the podcast during that marathon. lol A pattern if you will.

Anyways if didn't love the show i would never take the time to post my opinion. keep up the great work and no matter what i always click the play button on your pod cast and will continue to do so. Thanks from a long time fan!

Cautiously optimistic about Luigis Mansion? lol. Such a negative view. lol. The 3DS game was amazing and the Switch game looks great too. Weird that you add a cautiously optimistic line. lol.

Dark Moon was pretty good but I had my issues with it, that I didn't repeat on this podcast. In that game you ended up going back again and again to the same mansions for various missions, and if you wanted to collect those gems or get a high score, you basically had to search each hiding place again and again, which got repetitive.

The additional gameplay mechanics in 3 make me hopeful there will be more variety in terms of puzzles and that maybe Next Level won't feel the need to pad the playtime in the same way.

Yeah the Dark Moon mission structure was lame compared to the originals but other than that the game was absolutely great. If the game turns out to be great we all win. I'm looking forward to it. : )

yeah SNK is huge in Mexico. Huge.

I used to go to TJ almost weekly as a kid to visit family and me and my cousins would play this non stop in the local arcades, local mart store (one in every corner practically) and then on home consoles as well. SNK fighting games and metal slug was a religion in mexico with some amazing amazing players.

So while america was like who? Latin america was probably going nuts!!!! this character is legit and deserves a spot.

Smash is big in latin america and i see it getting bigger. some of the top players are from latin america. Zero, Mk leo etc.

Awesome hearing Johnny!

Btw i don't think Banjo plays anywhere near DK. Hes a high skill character IMO.

A lot of his moves other than the forward B are tricky to use. Even the forward B can be avoided easily.

check out some high level Banjo play and that backwards bomb is the one of if not the best tool in your kit.

You can use it to recover. you can use it to control space and you can use it in a lot of creative ways. You can even grab it and hold shield and i'll damage anyone near you but it won't hurt you.

Hes probably not top tier but he's tons of fun.

I think you forgot to mention that all these conversations and activities are optional.  You choose to talk to everyone and do the activities. You can skip all that and go to actual fights. So yeah. Optional.

Also, doesn’t the save file tell you your time played?

I played through eternal darkness a few months ago again. The controls are rough for modern standards but come on James. Unplayable? Lol. Gesh guys. The game was still awesome! Nothing like it on the cube. Rough for sure even at launch but unplayable? Lol hardly.

Totally agree that a lot of nes games had bs. Contra ain’t one of them. That game is perfectly balanced. It’s not that hard and in 3-4 hours you can master it and pass it. Get spread gun and learn patterns and the game rains extra life’s on you.

I love Syrene even though i completely disagree with her on so much i still really enjoy listening to her. I can listen to her own podcast. Does she have one?

With that said I finished the game last night in the "bad ending" and the stuff is overblown. I enjoyed the hell out of my experience. Did i get the "bad ending"? Yeah maybe but i still think the game was great and i didn't run into any of the buggy stuff she mentioned.

I'm exited now to play the other houses now.

I do agree that this is a great portable game. Sharp as hell. Same as Astral Chains. Super sharp and smooth.

i'm late here but after two episodes of joy con drift talk and home solutions am the only one that was thinking of the obvious here?

1 (800) 255-3700 - Give em hell.

Before Nintendo said they would fix it no problem i had the drift issue twice and i called them and gave them hell and back and MADE them fix my joycons both times for free.

It's annoying and stupid and Nintendo is 100% at fault but why even bother with the headaches and home solutions.

Just call Nintendo. Unless canada Nintendo is different. Not sure.

Absolutely agree on the Xenoblade 2 world building Guillaume. The game presents a world but doesn't go far enough in detailing how it would work in practice.

Do blades eat?
Can blades die?
If blades can't die why do they need to eat?

They needed to flesh out their thought experiment on the weird blade driver relationship. Some times they act like regular people and other times like pokemon.

I didn't care about the blades as much as i did about my main group of characters. I wanted to spend all my time with them so those details weren't as important to me and never destracted from me.

Since the characters were so charming i just went along for the ride. Honestly one of my favorite games of all time.

It does have some of that monolith bullshit but nothing and i mean nothing compared to Xenoblade and Chronicles. Oh god Chronicles. : S

The game's ending let me down, that's all. The aspect of the story that I liked was neglected. There's no reason for me not to say so.

I assume, since you're catching up, that there's a gap between your listen of 627 and the episodes that came before? I'm not going to relisten to those episodes to check, but on 626 I talked about Sumer and Capcom Beat'em Up Bundle. On 624, Breakforcist Battle and Gunbird 2. These titles weren't perfect and I'm sure I had my gripes, but surely it came through that I enjoyed them.

Yeah i am catching up for sure and to be fair it did seem you very much enjoyed Gunbird. But listening to a ton of episodes in a row (i was 14 episodes behind) it does highlight somethings more often.

Like if you're negative on a game in one episode then in the next episode your negative again and so on it gets more amplified when you're doing back to back listening. Not attacking you or anything just an observation.

But on the Xenoblade 2 i think is really a matter of opinion and what you're looking for.

I loved loved loved Rex, Pary, Mythra and the gang. All of them were tropes for sure but insanely charming and funny and lovable. The relationship between Rex and Pyra was so heart warming and endearing that i could watch them together for hours and not get tired.

I do understand the wanting more world building but at it's heart the story was and is always about Rex and Pyra and the game appropriately concentrated and ended on them IMO.

Me and my kids still go back to the movie viewer in the game and constantly re watch the cutscenes just because these characters are so good.

I know Rex can come off as cheesy due to his always positive and power of friendship trope but it works and it works so well and you don't always need a dark conflicted character. I'm fine having someone always be positive. He did have some conflict in the sense he was unsure of himself at times and did not want to let his friends down.

Again, troppy? sure but done really well.

I kinda agree a bit about samus return but by the second half of the game I was destroying everything and found it a easy game. I liked it a lot.

PS. which to be fair is exactly what John said so spot on. Though i enjoyed the first half a bit more than he did.

100% disagree that Rex is the weakest character or uninteresting. I loved rex and his relationship with pyra. Absolutely right to focus on their relationship at the end. Disagree here.

I’ve been listening and trying to catch up so I’ve listened to a lot of episodes in a row. Do you like any games GUI? Lol. Seems like 90% negative and some positive in his play playthroughs.

I came to this podcast and heard “3D Zelda is almost never good” lol. Wow. Wow.

It really takes about 2-3 hours to get good at castlevania. Let’s get real. Save states actually make you worse since you don’t get to practice areas.

Honestly John holy water and you steamroll the game. Don’t lose that item. The game is average in difficulty. If you can play destiny for 100 hours you play castlevania for a few hours to plactice. Is just we’ve gotten soft.

Even without the famicon save once you get used to the game you can pass it in 18-25 mins. Super short game.

Greg is right. Smart business. Start at .1 penny. Then 50 cents and then once in the charts you go full price. Casual people see the game in the charts and assume it’s special and impulse buy at full price. Smart for a terrible game.

Burnout was really disappointing. Nothing like driving at 100 miles an hour and not nothing where to turn while the AI knows the best route. Really disappointing game.
