Merry Christmas everyone!  I managed to get the entire Jingle set as well. :)
One thing that tricked me though is that Jingle hid inside empty villager houses as well as outside.  Took me awhile to figure out what was going on.
Darn it I knew I should of looked inside.

I got a whole set too.  Jingle is just a little clueless, like a pair of glasses makes me not look like Superman.

Pap did you see the photos I uploaded of us in Animal Crossing? If you didn't they are over here. And it proves that you don't need some overhyped online service that you have to pay for just to have fun ;).

I've avoided this thread for the past few days because my yearning for it grew greater. I caved and bought this, had my first play session with it early yesterday and I'm liking it so far. It's still very similar to Wild World but thats not a bad thing, I just wish there was more to do like a lot of people do, I just don't hate the game for it.

I'll be posting my friend code up, hopefully, later today and i'll be sure to add everyone here. Fair warning though, my town is nothing special since i've yet to plant any of my own trees or flowers, I didn't even make a town flag yet!

Don't worry, mine isn't special either (working on it).

I am personally enjoying it more than "Wild World". The online is far smoother and it feels great playing it on a tv.

Its a much polished experience than Wild World, IMHO.

I agree with everything except the online bit... but thats cuz I never played WW over wi-fi. By the time i got the game most people lost interest, and i wasn't going to scour the internet for die-hard AC fans to exchange friendcodes with.

I love the controls in CF are great. I love how you can play with just the wiimote if you're too lazy to hold up the nunchuk, and i love how the d-pad lets you change tools or put one away without going thru your pockets.

I like the controls too EasyCure.

I am currently trying to get my house a second story.I will probably finish upgrading my house before I get any upgrades for my town.Like a bridge or a fountain.I figure by the time I get my house fully upgraded I will have enough fruit trees and different fish and insects will be around.

I have a quick question about one aspect of the controls though..

Is there a way to select multiple items from your pocket to drop to the ground? I remember you could do that in the original GC Animal Crossing by (i think..) holding down X as you select multiple items. I'm pretty sure i was able to do the same in Wild World (made selling things much easier) but I can't seem to do it in City Folk. I know when selling items to Nook all I have to do is point and click on everything I want to sell, I'm talking just about dropping multiple items from your pockets to the floor.

Anyone?

Online in Wild World was pretty sucky because life in your town would literally stop when another player came in. All of your villagers stay inside of their houses, and I believe more than one player can't enter the house. Then there was the communication aspect of the game. First,  Wii Speak does a WORLD of wonders to the AC formula. Since the game is so light and breezy you can freely talk about anything not related to the game, like pets, movies and South Park episodes (something me and S_B did this morning :p ). Second, typing Wii mote is MUCH better than typing with the DS screen. Touch controls are good, but still feels like typing with one finger. You can type very quickly with the wiimote. Plus, you can connect an USB keyboard which gets the job done even aspect.

City Folk actually creates content around 4 players, like festivities and KK Slider, something Wild World never did. Since the Wii processor is faster and stronger than the DS's it allows for far more content to be shown online, creating a far more robust experience.

Then there are the graphics. I'm no graphics whore, but WW looked pretty bad. It was too grainy, the framerate was terrible when compared to other, more advanced DS games and you missed a lot of details due to how small the screen is. CF, on the other hand, looks clean, polished and bright. It adds a lot to the experience.

While I admit that taking some of the special visits and turning them into City attractions steals a bit of the anticipation it is very convenient. Dr. Shrunk barely appeared in my village so being able to visit him all week whenever I want is always a plus.

And like you mentioned, the controls are great. They are far more comfortable on the hands than the DS version.

Overall, City Folk is so awesome that Nintendo should have just scrapped the DS version and focus only on  the Wii version. That way the impact would have been bigger.

I checked and you can't do that but you can drag and drop items by moving the item to the circle on the right side next to the letters. This method allows you to drop things without having to exit your inventory.

My brothers and I got this for Christmas! I've never played an animal crossing before, but my brothers and I are having a good time with it so far. There has already been a mad scramble for the equipment available in Nook's store which resulted in my middle brother not getting anything, while my youngest bro landed the bug net and shovel and I scooped up the fishing rod and watering can. Anyways, I'll put up my FC soon, even though my town hasn't been customized too much... at any rate, I'm enjoying it and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be addicted to it pretty quickly.

The only good review I read of Animal Crossing City Folk was from Johnathan Holmes who is the resident  Destructoid Nintendo fanboy. Even though you may have the impersonation of OMG fanboy alert!, if you read his reviews he's pretty descriptive about the gameplay mechanics of any game he reviews and critiques it pretty fairly (and for some reason he compares animal crossing to porn).

I haven't experienced all of it either, but its definitely more polished than before. The fact that life goes on in your village is a massive improvement. True, you can't donate fossils or send letters, but at least you can interact with other players, the villagers, buy stuff from Tom Nook and celebrate real world holidays together.

To me, CF is a truer AC experience since there are little technical difficulties that prevent it from being great.

I am honestly stunned at how little has changed, but has received so much polish it makes up for the lack of any ground breaking elements. Really, when the best part about the game (interaction with friends) has been polished this much who CARES if its essentially the same thing? Football games only get roster changes, and people still love them!

After playing with pap last night for a bit I realized how badly I need a wireless keyboard!  Sorry I didn't stay too long but I hope you liked some of the stuff I brought you!

Your town is very nice.  I was surprised to see so much snow after getting used to my town, the barren wasteland!

I just want to apologize if anyone came to visit in the afternoon and I didn't do anything. See at around four (local time) S_B was still in my village looking for a rare fish. I've been up since 7:00AM, did a lot of Wii Fit and had to help my parents with a lunch they had in the afternoon. By the time everything ended I was tired out of my mind, so while S_B was in my town I fell asleep. The game stayed on all that time with the gates open because I wanted to let S_B find his fish.

So again, if you came around during that time my sincerest apologies.

Hope everyone had a nice holiday season.  It's nice to see that everyone is enjoying the game!  I had been out of town to visit family over the past week and came home to find that my turnips are at an all time low :(  My question to you folks is, does anyone have turnips selling over 95 bells?  I'm getting desparate because I have a TON of turnips that I don't really want to lose all my money on.  Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you guys actually been able to play online recently?  I've tried to connect several times tonight and I keep getting disconnected from Nintendo WFC, or if I do manage to get a list of open gates, it just times out when I try to connect to one of them.  Just wondering if there's something wrong with Nintendo WFC or if it's just me...

I'm extremly tired. So I am gonna get KK's song and go to bed afterwards.
