Nintendo launched an official shop in Russia with Wii U pre-orders:
http://mir.nintendo.ru/

This is huge, since they never had an official presence before. And with free shipping across entire country which is quite a bold statement to make considering state of post service there.

Prices are comparable to European which is also a major plus since local retailers usually inflate game consoles' prices twice or even three times of it's price.

The market isn't very big though, but hey. Sony thinks it's worth a try and is very active in retail there.

Too bad i don't even live in Russia ;p

Oh and apparently there will also be a special russian edition of ND today after regular european.

The Wii U comes with a sensor bar, so why not leave your current one with your Wii?
No, the white in europe doesn't.

On points vs actual currency on eShop, in Nintendo Network deluxe program description they mention points, so i guess, points are to stay.

As another leftie, i didn't even noticed the discrepancy. I just grabbed wiimote and started playing.

Kid Icarus, though, is kinda troublesome for us.

By the way, it really is interesting how wiimote gives you a choice -- you can hold it in any hand you feel is natural or plays better. Even depending on game. In some mini-games in Rhythm Heaven i play better with my right hand (apparently my left hand is bad at pushing button three times very fast).

One of the most under appreciated features of wii, i think.

This is something I've actually wondered about all the consoles & handhelds, but do people actually use the things to browse the internet or do people want them just to have them?  :confused;   I really just don't understand why you would without a proper keyboard for text input, and the browsers are usually terrible anyway (the PS3's especially is pretty much unusable).
I broke my leg and my old PC broke the same evening.

For the next month i was lying on the bed watching TV shows, playing wii games and browsing the web on wii internet channel.

It's definitely possible.

3ds browser is pretty fine (it's not Opera though, which was the case on wii and is my browser of choice on pc). Sometimes i use it as a note of some kind -- i open some page with lots of info i can't memorize, write up or print. And then go to some place. Open up your browser and the page is still there even if there's no wifi.

Well, if we're going to go into Sega properties, how about a new Panzer Dragoon?  I had a lot of fun with it on XBOX, and wouldn't mind seeing a new game.
It's your lucky day!
There is a new Panzer Dragoon game!

It's for kinect, though.

What are Nintendo's chances of still maintaining third party support with the Wii U in say about 2014 or 15 when its real competition comes out?
The way things are going Wii U is going to be THE home console in japan.

So they at least they will have some japanese third parties. The majority of japanese third parties will flock around 3ds but wiiu might get some too.

So. Ads?

Does anyone think that a Gamecube Virtual Console will be under utilized like the N64 or will it get quality support?
Weren't N64 titles on wii vc improved? Better fps/widescreen support?

USB-storage space confirmed, not sure what file system but they did state it was hooked up to an 3TB external USB HD :).
If wii, dsi and 3ds are anything to go by, it will support standard fat32 and ntfs.

All SD cards for these devices didn't change file system and just saved their stuff as regular folders and files.

Also confirmed the first title to use dual Gamepads (Orochi Musou 2 Hyper ) hense why the Japanese is getting the seperate purchasing option for the Gamepads.
Ahahah, of all games THIS is their first dual gamepad game? Oh wow.

And lastly, no title is using NFC :(.  I can understand Skylanders (because the figure stays on the device)
No, this is bs. In 3ds version you just "activate" your figurine per session and then can go wherever you go.
I mean, seriously, Activision and Nintendo? The technology is already there, why you force people to buy unneeded portal of power.

You were unlucky. Mine did (I got mine shortly after the slim model came out), and so do the Kinect 4GB ones.
Hmm. Okay, it's probably different in PAL regions.

Azeke, did you really just spend $914 on Wii U?
So exactly how rich or insane are you? If it's a combination of both i'm sure you have awesome stories to share!
Nope. It's a pre-order. They don't actually take money until it's shipped.
Also it's not even all of the order -- i also have some comics and two 3ds games in it (paper mario and luigi mansion).

Usually i do orders like these on amazon monthly after i get my paycheck. It's not even my biggest one.

I could pay it off right now if i wanted it, though.

Have Nintendo buy Electronic Arts (no more Mass Effect, Madden, Burnout, Need for Speed, FIFA Soccer) or Activision Blizzard (no more Call of Duty, Tony Hawk) or Take-Two Interactive (no more NBA 2K, Grand Theft Auto, L.A. Noire, Red Dead Redemption, BioShock).
These kind of monumental buyouts are not really Nintendo style.
Also they would severely damage companies' value by making them exclusives, and thus -- lessen their own value. You're basically throw money out of the window with that kind of deal.
Activision is making the bank on xbox with cod. Skylanders (probably even bigger franchise today than CoD) is mostly Wii but even then not fully.
Blizzard is PC only company. It's worthless for Nintendo.

I'd rather have Nintendo just buying IPs, like that rumour about N trying to get Rare's IPs (Banjo, Conker and the like) from Microsoft? Yeah, more of that.

Yep, Nintendo is very good at handling their decades old franchises. I think action filled uncharted style Ice Climbers is long overdue  ;)

And, yes, Nintendo SHOULD buy out dead IPs from studios who no longer care about them. Mega Man, Bomberman, Pac-Man can only survive under them.

I don't really see the feasibility of these IPs unfortunately.

Um, Xbox 360 comes with a HDMI cable.
Mine 250Gb xbox sure didn't. I just went to check just in case i will find an additional hdmi cable there.

Nope. No hdmi.

They said composite and other video cable for wii will work for wii u as well, so if you have them you're good.

I have an HD TV so this doesn't apply to me. But are composite cables also in the package? If not imagine the problems that will arise for SD TV users.
No, HDMI only.

Which is funny cause it's the other way around for xbox and ps -- they only have composites in the box.

So what's everyone thinking of picking up with the console. I'm grabbing

Wii U deluxe
New Super Mario bros U
ZombiU
Darksiders II
My order:

Too bad i will have to check Pikmin 3 off the order because it won't arrive at launch...
