Nintendo Gaming / Friday the 13th for the NES!
« on: July 13, 2012, 11:52:00 AM »
Did anyone else play this game? Being that it's Friday the 13th today, I've been thinking about the game all morning, and came to the conclusion that even though it's terrible, it actually had some clever ideas and concepts for the time. I wrote a blog about it on my sad excuse for a gaming site if you want to read it (http://qoopaklubpodcast.wordpress.com/)

Does anyone else have fond (or awful) memories of this game?

I have not played any of the zombie-shootemups that have been so en vogue this gen, so the fatigue that many others feel regarding the genre does not apply to me. I'm really interested in this one.

I never really noticed Connectivity being an overly negative show. Maybe I'm also overly negative? There's certainly PLENTY to be negative about this week. Good job as always.

I've been manual refreshing, but that could just be because my computer is a POS.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Is 'New Super Mario Bros.' a brand for bland?
« on: May 30, 2012, 11:08:15 AM »
I'm reserving judgement until I see it in action. But the art style is incredibly......dry. It's starting to seem that, more and more, the "New Super Mario Bros." and, to an extent, "3D Land," are being made to appeal the casual audience with a few bones for the Mario veterans thrown in. I think the 3D games, specifically Galaxy 1&2, were made more for the veterans of the franchise. Don't get me wrong, I love them all for various reasons.

Honestly, I'll be content with NSMB2 if it has great level design.

According to GoNintendo, it looks like they'll be headed down the "exploration-based" route again. :( I suppose it'll be interesting to see how MercurySteam handles this different than Igarashi's team has in the past. Also, at some point, you'll be able to play as Simon Belmont. Interesting.

I actually just read that, too. Was coming back to acknowledge my foolishness. :P

Wait, are we sure that the 3DS game ISN'T Lords of Shadow 2?

12
YES. YES! YES!!! I was just starting to tire of the exploration Castlevania games. Now, they just have to fix my main gripe with Lords of Shadow - the music. Give me some classic Castlevania style tunes, not just ambient orchestral stuff.

This week has been awesome for finding good deals.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 for $10 at Target.
Shinobi on 3DS for $15, Sonic Generations PS3 for $22.00ish, and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin for $20 on Amazon.
Rayman Origins for PS3 from Best Buy.

Damn kindle keyboard meant fable the journey.

I'm sure Herpes will be quite the journey, indeed.

With it not appearing at this year's E3, I am starting to really think that this game won't ever see the light of day.

Is that confirmed?

After some searching, there was a tweet from someone at Sony that says "The Last Guardian continues to be developed, however we have no news to share at this time with regard to the franchise and E3." So, definitely not a concrete "no," but it's looking incredibly slim that we'll see it.

With it not appearing at this year's E3, I am starting to really think that this game won't ever see the light of day. Which is a downright shame. I haven't played Shadow of the Colossus BUT I have played Ico, and I adored it.

If the DS, Wii, and 3DS 3rd party software lineups are any indication, I am pretty sure that Nintendo will have to be the one to light the way with their own software regarding use of the UMote. I hope to be proven wrong.

I'm just glad Nintendo's conference is airing on Spike TV this year.  I got excited last year because they aired Microsoft's E3 presentation, and then put Nintendo's on the F#c%!NG G4 channel!  Who the hell pays for that channel by the way?

It was included in my cable package long ago, in a land far, far away. The channel itself is a joke. Hope you like all day marathons of Cheaters and Cops!

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Wii U
« on: May 24, 2012, 08:24:46 AM »
Gearbox's Randy Pitchford confirmed about a week ago that the Wii U version of Aliens Colonial Marines is the best looking console version of the game. He indirectly confirmed that the Wii U is at least a little more powerful than the current platforms. I know some people will spin that negatively and say, "It damn well better be. At least, Nintendo got that right," but I remember when those wholly unfounded rumors from nameless sources came out a month or 2 ago about the Wii U being less powerful than PS3/360 and people were losing their minds. Just goes to show you how many of us are so quick to believe something just because it's sensationalized yet when someone with a face and a name who is showing off a game on the platform in question flat-out says said platform is home to the best looking version, it's barely a blip on the radar.

For some reason, a lot of gamers and gaming press want Nintendo to fail. When something comes out that makes that seem feasible, there's a giant uproar. Positive news is mostly ignored. I don't understand the mentality.

Iwata, Reggie...Time to drop the bomb.

Hope it's not a Reset Bomb...

If Reggie and Iwata came out dressed as Viridi, E3 is surely doomed.
